I like to build my own so I Kno what I have and put more performance in the build vs stock crate engine. The biggest expence is the machine work. For basic block prep, valve jobpress 8 pistons Cost around $700 Check out northernautoparts.com For engine kits Title: Re: Gmc 350 Post by: Judge peel on October 18, 2018, 09:29:40 pm Finally getting around to this rebuild. So many opinion none of them are cheap. But any way decided on a mild rebuild bigger cam roller rockers forged pistons valve and spring upgrades with MSD Ignition upgrade headers with cold air intake new hoses and water pump. Should haul the dogs around pretty good (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181019/a89d73116faacea3e0bf8ff5ee17c219.jpg)

Heads will be#193 casting swirl port type 1/2 tons got 2 bolt mains 3/4-1 ton got 4 bolt main blocks Your limited on performance mods with the tbi and 193 head type, computer. A bigger cam will require chip mod in computer I would go vortec heads ,scrap the tbi and comp for a carb/aluminum intake ,will require other mods. The tbi is good truck motor with ok bottom end torque but it falls on its face after 4,000 rpm Rated at 180/200 hp 350/400 hp 7,000 rpm can be achieved my way. Title: Re: Gmc 350 Post by: Judge peel on October 21, 2018, 05:31:59 pm Ya it’s a 93. I kept the swirl port over vortec because I don’t really want over 325 to 350 hp. If any higher I will need to get into the tranny again and I just had it redone. I went back and forth on the intake and carb but for now I will keep the Tbi. I don’t hot rod just for hunting. It ran good for yrs even pulling the trailer so it will be a nice gain. I am knee deep in a 302 rebuild as well

Tracked down a guy named brian nutter who now works for summit racing and writes for on all cylinders.. after a phone call he lined me out on cam for vvt and heads. Headers and cold air . Bottom stayes same with a high volume oil pump and steam something or other.. in a few months ill be driving a 10k yukon with 600hp. I could never justify buying a pick up again. This thing has lits of cool comforts that i woukd have to drop 30k on a used truck...
