Title: Menard County Swine Rodeo Post by: gary roberson on April 30, 2018, 11:58:59 am As most of you know, we try to produce at least one hog hunting show for CARNIVORE each season. While sitting over a feeder or shooting hogs in a field with night vision is the way most hogs are killed, it doesn't necessarily make for good TV. I think that hunting with dogs, and I am sure that most of you will agree, can be much more exciting. We had a great weekend and caught 7 or 8 hogs on Saturday morning, two really nice, toothy boars. Sunday we hunted east of Menard where a big light colored hog had been seen on a couple of occasions. We decided to target this hog to finish the show and if we didn't find him, we had enough video for the show.
Long story short the dogs bayed this light colored hog up in about 5 minutes. Brandon Burch stepped on a rattler while wearing hiking shoes when were sneaking into the bay to get video. I am not sure why the snake did not bite him. We caught two more really big, toothy boars, one hit our guide on the inside of the calf which should make good video. Thanks to the old Hogmaster, Rex Bumpus, hogcather, Jeff Hughes and Brandon Burch for the great dogs and good time. To see photos of these hogs, you can go to my facebook page. We will be dribbling a few to CARNIVORE's facebook page as well. Thanks and Adios, Gary Title: Re: Menard County Swine Rodeo Post by: Mike on April 30, 2018, 08:25:36 pm Sounds like some good hunts... look forward to seeing the show.
