Title: Lost a good one
Post by: justincorbell on March 18, 2020, 06:51:15 pm
Lost my flip dog today....ive been saying it was coming now for going on 4 years. Flip came out of the womb as rank as they get, always easy going around the house but a nut in the woods. He was 1 of my 2 remaining slick pups and grandsons to my old smoke dog that I am currently in the process of breeding back to. I essentially lost two dogs today...... his brother Willie won't see the woods again for at least 2 more years until I can get a couple litters on the ground and in the woods to carry on the blood. He was never the best dog in my yard but he was always the most consistent, if I toted him I knew with zero doubt that he was going to leave and go hunting. Gonna miss him on the yard. That’s no good, hate to hear it. Put that other dog up and get something off him if you believe in the blood. Worst mistake I ever made was not putting my kate dog up

I hated to hear it buddy, I was looking forward to bringing flip up here for some swamp pigs lol. He was a good one. I believe his nephew is going to be the best dog I’ve had if he keeps progressing the way he is.

Sorry you lost him Justin, its not always about catching hogs, a smart dog man does what he has to to keep dogs around that get the job done. Hope you get the pups you need to move forward.

I sure appreciate it amigo....... I don't know much of anything about being smart....or a dog man for that matter lol but im trying  ;D.... im patiently waiting on two of my gyps to come in as we speak to get some pups in the oven.....I sure wish they'd hurry up, if I could get em bred by the end of the month that would put em hitting the ground end of july / beginning of august which would put em at 7ish months come mid February..... a hair younger than id prefer but plenty old enough to start..........one thing ive learned over the years regarding these mutts is to not count my chickens before they hatch lol so I guess we will have to wait and see!

That last sentence is a tough one to accept. I sure needed a big litter from my Cricket dog a few months ago with several hunters I respect that can make a dog expecting a pup since the 1st litter has done so well. I got 2 female pups and just my luck mine has a birth defect that ive thrown $500 at with

Have you thought about getting semen collected from some of your males to preserve the future?  That would allow you to keep hunting the brother.
