Title: Sportsmix recall
Post by: WayOutWest on December 30, 2020, 10:19:32 pm
I just saw some posts about a big Sportsmix dogfood recall. You might want to check it out if you are feeding it.

Thanks...I quit using it about two years ago when my dogs started getting pretty ill...it took me several months to figure out it was the sportsmix...they had corrected the issue since then but I never went back...in the past I had used it for many years without issues...

Been feeding this for years. I’m done with them. Quality my a$$, how does this happen?

Nobody gives a crap anymore. Keep raising prices too. Their only job is to make dog food.........

I’ve been buying the sport mix 24/20 in 44lb bags, I noticed some bags were getting dry, best friend bought 4 bags last month and they were dry as a powder house floor, his dogs fell off hard first sure nuff cold snap we had, were both going back to the show time 27/20 at least until it starts getting hot weather, I had the same issue with the show time several years ago, as well as with the value pack about 6 yrs ago, except with the value pack I had 2 tons of it sitting in my shed that I couldn’t sell and my dogs turned their nose up to, seems like every so often they all run bad batches, another good friend across the creek from me runs a custom processing during deer season, I get all the meat scraps and bones from him and my dogs get mostly that during the winter, I started boiling hogs down and cooking rice, taters, and carrots in another pot, a 50-60 lb shoat, ten lb bag of rice and plain sack of taters and carrots will feed 20 head for dang near a week, I waste nothing except the stomach and intestines, I’ll either boil the hide a lil bit or cut in up in strips and let the have it raw, I’ll add half the normal ration of kibble every other feeding and a k9 multivitamin every feeding time to make sure they’re getting the correct minerals and such, it seems as if your a dog hunter and diesel truck driver you get the screws put to you and have to pay top dollar for by products...

I also had a slight problem with the Value Pack, the exact same thing started happening as I previously experienced with sportsmix several years ago...
I have been keeping a close eye on my dogs, the same symptoms but milder...I given them probiotics and also give them table scraps and fried chicken once a week or so...

Years ago we didn't have issues with the dog food...

I’m sure the dog food buyers are constantly sourcing new protein and corn to add to their feed and stay competitive with pricing. With it being an aflatoxin- must be something with the corn. Just had one of my dogs at the vet yesterday- not eating and losing weight.  I don’t trust their feed anymore.
