Title: Projects
Post by: Cajun on January 30, 2021, 05:48:12 pm
I have always carried a hog crate on that side of my boat but it was heavy n too tall for somebody to sit on so I took it out n built a dog box for that side n it can be used as a seat. Since we cannot haul live hogs anyone it was wasted space. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210130/af5ae7fb8ccbb0f04c26becf8beebaf6.jpg)

That looks real nice. Do you have any trouble losing collar reception when they are in the box with the metal top?

I wouldn’t think so but I’m generally not tracking dogs n the boat. Lol. I might out of the front dog boxes (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210131/4f9bf1b07f7baafcf8b7bcd90684aed9.jpg)

Lol the reason I ask is in the past I have lost reception with them when in a box with a metal top. Then went to cut them out all of a sudden not realizing it and had trouble tracking them because it didn’t link back up good before they darted off. I haven’t had that trouble with wood tops.

Cool set up Cajun do your front boxes connect all the way through looks like it'll hold a pile of dog's.

T dog I knew what you were saying. lol Just having a lil fun. Actually we have had to track back to the boat a lot. In the marsh everything looks the same and in wooded terrain it is the same, that garmin saves a lot of steps. I have always gotten a signal out of some of the dogs in the boat. I have lost signal in my aluminum box in the truck tho.
Cracker, that front box does have a divider in it and I can fit 3 50# dogs in each side. I do ride 2 or 3 dogs on the bow for rig dogs but they rig out of the box just as well.

I knew you were picking. I pick a lot so I don’t mind when people pick back. It was actually pretty funny. I was kinda disappointed I didn’t say it.

Man that’s a sweet setup!

As far as collars losing a track I haven’t had it happen in my dog box in the truck, but I had a few times in the past where I turned dogs out and didn’t realize I didn’t have a track and it wouldn’t pick them up. I figured out that I have to let the collar connect 100% before I put it on the dog and put them back in the box. Once it’s connected it stays connected but if it’s still trying to get a full GPS connection and I put them back in the box before it’s done, it won’t make the connection and I have to re-pair the collar to the handheld to get a track. I actually need to look at updating my collars; they’ve gotten to where at 300yds they start cutting in and out now. I used to be able to get .7 or .8 before they started dropping.

Did you anchor it some way so it won't dump you in the river?

TDog, I only waited till about the last weekend that we could use it. Went today and it worked fine. Clue it is pretty solid.
