Title: Ain't Got no dogs to Hunt.
Post by: l.h.cracker on October 29, 2021, 11:42:19 pm
Well fast talking people done ran me out of town.I can't take the Rat race no more in my hometown and I decided to sell everything and head to the middle of GA.My family has been in this area of FL since 1745 but it's been overtaken by Yankees  I bet theres 10,000 houses being built in a 20 mile radius of my house there's a traffic jam coming and going at anytime of day. When I was a boy there were only 2 paved rds in our town and I walked around with a bulldog and a shotgun Killin rabbit, squirrel, dove and quail right through town in the orange groves and blocks of woods. That same bulldog "Pup" would come to my house and walk me to school every morning at 7am then walk back to my grandparents farm 3.5 miles outside of town and work cows and hogs all day then walk back to my school at 2pm and wait for me at the gate to get out he'd then walk me home and hang out with me until I sent him back to the farm for the night where he watched it for the night and he would be back the next day,he would tree a squirrel ,flush quail, Catch a hog and bunch cows he was a true working bulldog who lived 15yrs but pup's story was kinda the story of my hometown. No stop lights and good folks I would drag a jon boat behind my bicycle on a trailer I made from some old bicycle wheels and a axle and fish every lake I wanted to.I knew everyone who lived here.I don't recognize this place anymore we raised our grown children here and they are all doing good but I don't want to raise these young boys in this foreign place. Its no place to make Men anymore the fish are dead and the woods are gone. Its time for hard decisions in life I have an established business and a home we put the house up for sale and are trying to buy one in GA.Luckily I have some good friends up there and one of them is taking care of all my dogs while we go through this process. It was a sure hard thing driving all my dogs to his house and dropping them off "ol Hambone was not happy" but I didn't have much of a choice and thank God for good friends like that.Im hoping to be in GA by the 1st of the year and hopefully be able to take a breath.I actually headed down South this morning and made a hunt with my buddy who has 2 dogs off my dogs a 1yr old male named Surfer Man and CJ a 20 month old gyp and they sure made me proud. It was the first time in many years that I didn't have a dog in the race but I had a great time. The dogs were rigging hogs the whole boat ride to the spot when we hit the bank they instantly went out to 900yds and jumped they were in a giant old growth palmetto and gulberry flat and even though the sow we caught wasn't big she made em earn it they jumped her at 6:30am and they finally pushed her till she heated up at 9:30 and had to make a stand in a little creek that ran through the palmetto like a tunnel.Cj bayed her up and Surfer Man wasn't far behind and they caught out.It was exactly what I needed to get me through all this BS of buying and selling.Sorry for the long winded rant about nothing but I figured I'd tell y'all why I ain't been posting no hunts cause I ain't got no dogs to

Understand completely. Tough call to make, but I’m sure everything will go your way in the end. You’re doing it for the kiddos as much as yourself - that says a lot about you.

Nice looking pups.

Dang Cracker. I sure hate it for you. When Katrina hit here about 15 years or so ago, it increased the natural expansion of growth by about 10 years. People coming out of New Orleans buying 1-5 acres and think they own it all has changed our way of life. The closest town where grocery stores and Walmart is 17 miles away and a major traffic jam anytime of the day. The biggest problem is it is only going to get worst. I have already lost to many hunting spots. Best of luck to you and your family. I dont know about going from being a Cracker to a Ga. Peach but it should all work out.

I don’t think it matters much where we are, it sounds like the same song on different stations. We are an hour from Austin but we are seeing the same traffic jams and disappearing properties here. Austin has become the new California. Native Austinites don’t want any part of their liberal ways so they are selling out and buying here. Now they own a 5 acre RANCH. Some of them never seen a steak on the hoof. They have no real clue about how nature works. These idiots are trying to get away from bigger idiots, no wonder our country is in the shape it’s in. They have these great ideas and then implement them only to find out they weren’t so great, like defunding the police. Homicides have tripled in Austin since this grand idea was adopted. They live in La La land and just can’t fathom why their fairy tales don’t work out, and rest assured it’s someone else’s fault and not theirs. ANYWAY, Cracker I wish you and your family the best bud. I know the kinda guy you are so I know you’ll be fine. As for the dogs, if it gets to point that you’re in a jam, don’t get rid of them. You can send out here and come get them when you’re ready again. You’ve worked long and hard to get where you’re at, I’d hate to see you lose it. Sure sounds like those young dogs are nice.

I know it's happening everywhere and believe you me the last thing I want to be is part of the problem by running to someone else's state or town but hell I can't breathe down here no more. One of the reasons I'm moving is these dogs I am fortunate enough to have a couple good buddies up there that are like minded and hopefully we can push some dogs together.Huntin spots down here are few and far between and as crowded as a Walmart parking lot.We had a few really good Mayors here in town over the years that kept development to a minimum but the Yanks have gotten a foothold now and voted in a liberal Yankee Woman who lives in rich suburb 30 minutes away from our town and she has opened up the flood gates of progress.Theres a housing development in every piece of land in the works zero lot line Cookie cutter developments full of the rudest people on planet earth.

At least you have the will to get up and make the move…

It’s been bad around here for many years and getting worse by leaps and bounds…I have said many years ago…the kind of dogs to hunt are the silent run to catch dogs that don’t range far…

But I will stick with my style of dogs…long range no quit until the job is done type of dog…nothing less…

Things will get worse in an exponential way from these days forward…

Simple logic and mathematics…

A little over 2000 years ago the world population was 1 billion…it took over 1800 years to double at 2 billion…and in the last 200 years it gone from 2 billion to 4 billion  to almost 8 billion…theoretically, it is very possible the world population could reach 16 billion in another hundred years…

But our world cannot handle that growth…we as a human race don’t seem to see the truth….we see climate change issues but can not see the real issues…

Best wishes to you and your family LHC. I bet you will look back in a couple years and be glad you made the move.
-
Texas Gov Abbott just signed the bill making it illegal to keep dogs on a chain beginning in January. They tried to limit the number of hours a dog could stay in a truck or trailer.
-
Californians ruined their state and now they are bringing the same crap here. Unfortunately, they have a lot of money and their slowly but surely gaining influence in the legislature.
-
My wife and I both work from home and are seriously considering relocating farther out. Unfortunately it’s growing so fast here that the rat race follows you out!

I am always glad for anyone from the old culture that is able to get away from the "civilized folks" that fit the modern society, with the 5 acre "ranches" where most of them are tree hugger, gun control, should have stayed in the city if you want to live like you are in the city people, and are on guard for even a bird to fly across their property.
I miss the days when you could go anywhere anytime and not be in danger of the game warden or the sheriff being called, folks moving out of the city's and  suburbs along with big time deer hunting leases, and disrespectful hunters have caused an entirely different culture to evolve.

Ignorance, disrespectful and unethical hunters, and just down right stupidity have caused caused this. You are exactly right old man. We are dinosaurs!

Cracker, I’ve got a lot of respect for someone that is willing to get up and make the change like that. I wish the best of luck to you and your family with the move. That’s awesome that you’ve got trusted friends to keep your dogs as well, it sounds like they’ve been everything you’ve worked for with your breeding program. Once you get all settled in I’d like to come watch them work some time. I know a guy that’s somewhere around that same area that has given an open invite for me to come hunt with him, you or your buddies may know him, he’s got a lot of land from what he’s told me.

That first dog sure looks good, if you get tired of any of them just send them up here to me, lol. Might not be Florida but we’ve still got swamps! Haha

Well we're officially GA Crackers now or GA Peaches I reckon and couldn't be happier. We still have a garage full of boxes and a barn full of loaded trailers but we'll get it all moved in and set up as fast as we can. There's zero noise out here except the sounds of nature and a train way off in the distance every few hrs, I feel blessed to have been able to provide this for my family.Cant wait till deer season is over and we can get after em.My dogs are still at my buddy J4Hand55 (He just joined the forum he's a real dog man and great friend)house until I can get a dog yard built hopefully that'll be REAL soon I can't thank him enough for all his help I couldn't have done it without him.I live right between Ol Muddy and J4hand55 they gonna wish I stayed in FL cause I'm gonna be pestering the hell out them about taking me huntin till I can  lock down a couple of my own spots but that'll come I'm already working on a couple!

Ha Cajun for some reason Georgia Peach Cur don't sound very tuff or strike fear in no hogs so my dogs will have to stay FL Crackers.
Highwater ol Muddy's a good friend I'm sure we'll get after a few before I stop getting called.
I  appreciate it Shotgun I enjoy hunting up here it's way less stressful than what I'm used to with all the gators there's still some here just nothing like what I'm used to.
Nlahunter my driveway runs right down the side of a big field that had peanuts in it this year and there was a giant track crossing the dirt road this morning.
