This contest shuts down a few of my places for an extra 8 weeks AFTER deer season. Can’t blame anybody for chasing the cash……wish dogs were allowed! Man can hunt a long time and not catch a 378 lb hawg! Or a 3 5/8 cutter! Both killed the first week of the contest. Only rules are no dogs, no helicopters, no traps, no high fence. Most these guys stalk fields with thermals and won’t shoot unless the big one is out there. They’ll come back night after night looking for the right one. Let groups of 80 or more walk right off.
When you have that much prize money involved, there is a good bit of dishonesty going on as well. I quit hunting most of my Wise county spots anyways - too many people have moved in.
