Title: Kentucky Derby…
Post by: Reuben on May 08, 2022, 08:25:51 pm
The Kentucky Derby was pretty exciting this year…after a couple of years of Covid and low attendance the place filled up…

Exciting because Rich Strike with an 80-1 odds, whose gate was the very outside starting gate…came out the gate and immediately moved towards the center…coming around the last turn he moved to the inside and when his jockey made the move…it was impressive and exciting to watch…a grand performance…

My hope is that he wins the Preakness…so I can have something to look forward to…when a horse is in the running for the triple crown it’s like getting ready to watch your favorite team in the Super Bowl…the thing about the first two legs…it is common enough for a horse to win those two…but uncommon to win the triple crown on account the Belmont is 1.5 miles…

It was one for the ages Rueben, the horse got in on Friday with minutes to spare after another scratched horse pulled out.  The overhead video shows how good a ride that jockey pulled off. He looked like he was driving a Porshe through a bunch of VW Beetles. The announcers never called his name till he won the darn thing.

Owner and trainer both said he is faster on longer tracks. That was a mile and quarter, he should burn up Belmont.  Great race....

He appeared to be increasing speed for the last 300 yards or so…when the jockey asked for the speed he had plenty to give…

There is no chance for a triple crown…it was announced the other day that Rich Strike was not running in the Preakness…the chance for a triple crown is a big reason to watch the Preakness…

The Belmont is next Saturday 6-11-22…Rich strike won the Kentucky Derby but did not run in the Preakness…

He was a long shot but won impressively…he is supposed to be a long distance horse so he just might be the horse to beat…he should be well rested and ready to run…

I think if a horse wins the derby he needs to run the Preakness if no injuries…

Reuben, how about if I tell you how often you have to hunt your dog?? They didn't cost anyone anything but possibly themselves a triple crown winner.

As a fan I can understand your feeling Rueben but if I owned the horse I would dang sure do what I thought was best for my horse and me. He wasn't likely to win the Preakness and the extra rest probably gives him the best shot at the Belmont.

I knew I would get replied on my comment…and I totally agree with what you guys have said…but when there is a chance for a triple crown winner it just makes for more excitement and I bet it pulls in much more money…

The other thing is a horse that has won the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness…this horse has to beat out horses that were rested…just things to consider that play a role in winning and not winning…it goes with the territory…
