Anyone  in southeast TX raise Mountain Curs?

Marshall on this board will be having pups soon out of some very good hog dogs. The pups should be mostly black brindles and maybe a few brown brindles. These pups should be of the larger type of mtn curs.

Where is he located?

Name number and where abouts he from I'd love to get a male off of him what is the price range you think

Another fella is Charles Fasola, he breeds for tree dogs but has big,well put together dogs.

Marshall's got some really nice kemmers, long range, well built and lots of hunt! I currently have a brindle gyp out of his last litter that is 7 months old, pretty as they come and trees squirrels all day long on my farm. Been in the pen once and did well, all his kemmers from that litter are doing great... As he did just have a another whole litter out of the same cross. So he'll have whatever you need. I'll post a pic of mine later

Thanks for the referrals guys. Yes, I have another litter of (11) that are almost 3 weeks old. They are all healthy as can be. I'm not sure if we are going to keep any of this litter because I still have (4) from the previous litter that are all doing great. Both parents are jam up hog finding fools. not trying to hijack the post but i figured you guys were familiar with the mt curs can anyone tell me about charles fasolas line of curs heard good things from a few ppl

He has had some very good dogs in the past. He tends to like the bigger type. Right now his stud dog is of good size and he looks great. This dog is the grandsire to Marshalls pups on the bottom side. This dog is a natural tree dog and one of the best Charles has had. Go to Treepros.com and take a look at his website.

thanks reuben i live about five minutes from charles actually coon hunt the same property as he does right by his house and pass by there several times a day but have never stopped and talked to him my buddy has supposed to have been lining a hunt up with him but we have never gotten around to it...how do these curs hunt far as range hustle and nose...mt curs in general that is

I like the right mtn curs better than any other breed I have hunted. They are somewhere in the middle between bmc, cat and plott, walker hound. They also have that long range winding ability. The mtn curs that Charles Fasola has should be cold nosed and long range winding type dogs. These dogs will circle around you 3 to 4 hundred yards and will go deeper if you don't move but will keep circling around you if you are traveling on a 4 wheeler. If they take a track they will leave out on it and go untill the hog is bayed.

If you don't like open mouthed dogs then find another breed or look hard for a silent mtn cur.

Most will not open on a cold track but will open some on a smoking hot track or open some once the hog breaks bay. These dogs have been bred to hunt for many years.

Just like any breed you will have culls but if bred right that should be minimal. The biggest thing is finding a breeder that breeds the type of dogs you like.

Charles Fasola has pups from time to time and Marshall Willey has pups now that are grandsired by Charles best stud dog named Duke. Also a man named Rob Day keeps some cold nosed dogs. As soon as my gyps coe in heat I will breed them to some good hog dogs out of my old line of dogs. These gyps are out of Marshalls dogs.

There is one large original mtn cur around your area that I am really interested in that I would like to get a pup out of. He is a world champion squirrel dog. I have seen squirrel dogs make awesome hog dogs if they have the right equipment. I will post a pic of him up now that I know how. :)

Most mtn curs quiet down on the track when they get about 2 yrs old and also if you hunt them regular. They tend to be gritty and catchy.

This is that squirrel champion I am talking about. I raised this type of dogs for about 20 years (strictly for hogs) and am hoping to do it one more time and this time hope to place some in hog hunting homes to get a wider based program going because I don't plan on keeping many this time around.

Thanks Mike, as soon as deer season is over I am going to hunt them and I hope they will turn out like the sire and dam. Well even if only one does I will be happy.

Man those are nice lookin dogs.I may have to call ol Marshall.

Those are some damn good looking dogs,they are leggy and I bet they could bite a hog on the run in the butt really quick.

Thanks, I hope those 2 females cross over good with my old bloodline. That squirrel dog is OMCBA and NKC registered but don't know his breeding. He is a coon dog as well and will kill a coon so he must have some grit. I sure want to try a pup off of him. I just might make a trip to middle Louisiana to see what he looks like and hopefully make a hunt with them.

reuben i appreciate a goodworking dog no matter thr breed open or not but this type of cur sounds like wat im looking for to cross over some hounds i got to thro some more grit and still maintain the drive and hunt i know thier out there just havent placed my hands on them but thanks to yall believe in meade in the right direction

Rueben your gyps are looking great. Here is a litter mate to them. She looks identical to Marshalls sire, but a much smaller dog like MJ the dam. She runs loose and trees squirreles ALL day long at my ranch, she is a natural at it. She's been in the pen once and will get a shot at being a hog dog and if she'll hunt them as hard as she does the squirrels she's gonna be a good one

Here (3) of my Kemmers from that same litter. They are 10 months old now and have been hunting really hard. I have a litter of (11) of the same cross (Bud X MJ) that are 3 weeks old now.

They arnt in se tx but west texas curs has some nice dogs had one from him
