Hey folks I'm just wondering if any or how many of you are thinking about entering.
There's been some deepsea fishing trips, Foxpro wildfire 2, supposed to have some cut gear, leashes, maybe some exotic hunts, talking to guy about about donating some sword fishing trips out of free port, some hunting lights ( rifle mount and hand held ) but I don't count the prizes until I have them in hand !
That kinda where we are standing right now !!
Thanks
Luke

I have a question you have a rule no game fences but the you say you can hunt a high fence is a high fence not a game fence? Thanks a lot

Title: Re: Gordon TX FFA tournament
Post by: Luke Seymour on March 30, 2013, 10:46:23 am
Technically not.   There's a big difference in a game fence and a high fence.
Basically no hog pen pastures which would also be covered in another rule of no previously caught hogs !

Title: Re: Gordon TX FFA tournament
Post by: M Bennet on March 30, 2013, 06:26:09 pm
Most high fence have pre caught hogs in them.game fence is the same as high fence.its to keep the animals in.rule 13 and 14 dont make sense

Title: Re: Gordon TX FFA tournament
Post by: Luke Seymour on March 30, 2013, 07:11:54 pm
Most high fences don't have precaught hogs do to the fact that a hog will bust holes in fences, dig under the fence and allow high dollar animals to get out. Monty just for you let's just say NO GAME FENCES UNDER 1000 acres. BOTH rules make perfect since. Monty like  one of your fellow hunters said "if there's nothing on paper saying we can't do it then we aren't breaking any rules".

Ha  rolleyes, ask Chance about that. I turned 7 barr hogs out on his high fence last fall, plus whatever he has put in there, and all the hogs and high dollar animals are still in there... and yes, there is a huge amount of high fences that turn hogs out in them. Just clear up the rules, thats all anyone is asking, because yes if its not in the rules then its not against the rules. People are gonna be cheating with the rules, so since there is gonna be a poly, might as well make it fair.

Monty why didn't you and your team show back up to weigh in ?

The Polly was there but there was no need in it.
Wasn't nothing of any real size there. 1st & 2nd wasn't close &   3rd was beat bad. You can tell him to speak for his self rather than you being a crash dummy and running it for him.  Out of 52 hunters and only one mad and fussing I think it went awesome !  Maybe he would have been happy if I tested him just to put it to use.  Like I told you Saturday morning and everybody else that the POLLY WOULD BE ON LOCATION !!

Thank you to those that showed up to hunt and support the kids !
It was great event !!  Lots of ppl won great raffles, auctions and the hunt itself !

Sorry Monty you also asked who. I gave all the paper work to Phillip. Can get the names but don't remember off hand.  Was a 4 man team. I think 2 of them was Dustin Kirkland, chance Witti and one guy they was calling D.L.  Like I said I can't remember but I'm pretty sure. The 4th man I couldn't even begin to remember. Lol.

No one mad Luke but when you say you have 18 teams and a polygraph, we show up to weigh in and only nine teams there after you hunted 22 hours straight and spent $360 on entry fees it doesn't set well.

Your flyer said polygraph. Who determined it wasn't needed?

Not accusing anyone of cheating, but you guys asked for feedback and you're getting it. People lie, cheat and steal for money.  Polygraphs are a way to keep people honest and returning to your event.

I didn't say anything to you yesterday and I know you got into it with my partner. I assure you he needs no one as a crash dummy.  He can handle his own business.

It was for a good cause, but personally I was very disappointed. You guys were representing the school district and had no problem taking the money, but deviated from your advertisement when it came down to the polygraph.  You should have never said you had 18 committed.  "Committed" means you have entry fees, not verbal commitments.

The way you paid out two spots per five teams had a lot to do with us entering.

Title: Re: Gordon TX FFA tournament
Post by: M Bennet on April 08, 2013, 09:08:44 pm
luke im not trying to start anything, but the reason we didnt comr cause the hog we caught i can make more money off of it than wat we would have won. you told me you had a polygraff guy there and you told chris an me all we had to do was pass it. when ppl win other ppl money and you hire polygraff you test the winners no matter what. im not speaking for jsh or my other friends there big boys. if there are winners and the wieght dont matter. maybe next yr ya ll  will have it put together a little better, hell i can show you how i run mine. if my team would have had the wieght we would have came in. thanks

Title: Re: Gordon TX FFA tournament
Post by: lrhlrh89 on April 08, 2013, 09:21:20 pm
Luke your hunt was false advertised and that's what I had a problem with I can handle losing I've done it. When you have money involved you have to follow through with what you advertise I am the one on the phone with you texting I have no problem if all teams agree to not take a poly, but I specifically asked and you said there was no need that's bullnumber 2.I believe me and my team members will be talking to the superintendent and attending your next school board meeting we won't be back and I do not reccommend this hunt to anyone, luke your one big chickennumber 2

Title: Re: Gordon TX FFA tournament
Post by: Luke Seymour on April 08, 2013, 09:26:36 pm
Jeff I never advertised paying 2 for 5 places. The flyer was 1 for 5.
I don't think I've said that in out txt. Ill go back and look and if so then I will buy all 4 of y'all each a new cut jacket from vender of choice. And I'll openly apologize and will showed if I messed up. But pretty certain I didn't.

Gotta clear my self taking money. There's receipts show every entry entrant and side pots. I knew some body would have said or asked about it.

I'm sorry if you felt when I said 18 committed meant paid. Guess they could go either way and chose my wording wrong. Idk how to put. Basically I should have said I've got X appoint paid spot.

Do you think I really had any idea I would only had 9. Man I was ready prize out atleast 5 but grouped only 4. Then at 101 pm Saturday I was like dang it why didn't they show after they said they was coming. I Was contacting everybody that I had contacts for and they yes they was coming.

I'm not mad or upset over the feedback. It's just going help me better future events. I know you won't be back and I'm sorry for that.

Title: Re: Gordon TX FFA tournament
Post by: Luke Seymour on April 08, 2013, 09:38:06 pm
Man if I can be of any help getting any of the names or address please let me know and ill get them bud. I don't have anything hide man. I thought it went well. Didn't realize all hells broke loose behind me.

I did pay 2 instead of only havering to pay 1. Wasn't trying to screw any body but I did. I screwed the first place by taking money and spreading it out over 2 instead of 1. I've already got their names and found numbers. Contacted Chantz and apologized to him for it.

I apologize you won't be back but maybe in a few years you join one and come hunt some of my stuff or just for the heck of it.
Sorry that you feel that way about me  but hindsight is 20/20 and y'all helping us put it together better.
Praying it gets a ton better each year all the way around. From sponsers, the handlers, all the way down the hunters !

I am the Gordon Ag. teacher. I was contacted by a person who was in the hunt and told about this site and some of the problems and ?'s hunters had.  The hunt started by Mr. Seymore asking if it would be okay to weigh in hogs at the sg farm.  After everything was cleared through the school, city and sheriff's dept. I told Mr. Seymore everything was a go but I needed to be there. He said since we are going to use the farm the money raised will go to the FFA.  I was pleased to hear that because we have to pay for leadership, judging contest and conventions we attend.  Lucas told me about a few of the prizes he had donated and when it came to the sign in date I was very impressed.  Lucas set up the prizes and said other stuff would be in a raffle.  I told him we could raise more money with silent auction on some of the items.  It is my understanding that some people were told that some of the auction items were going to go to the winning team and there would be no raffle.  I did not know about that and am sorry for the problem. I would like to Thank everyone who participated in the event and say a special thank you to Lucas Seymore and his family for putting this together.  The Gordon FFA would like to keep doing the hunt and would appreciate possitive in put on how to make it better.  I was told earlier would be better so I am looking at the first part of March because my stockshow season is close to over then.
YES ALL THE MONEY DID GO TO THE FFA EXCEPT WHAT WAS PAID OUT IN PRIZE MONEY! The event raised a little over $2000.  Again Thank you very much to those that entered and the towns people who bought  raffle tickets..

The 2nd place team- Cory Bacon, Justin Anderson,Caleb Busby and Stephen Tolar. This team won the Biggest sow and most hogs.  The 1st place rifle team was Justin Scrivener (school board member) Randy Nix and Trey hodgkins.  Justin was the highest bidder for the Bear Hunt which he bought for his 3rd grade son and the cut vest.  The 2nd place team was Billy Cooper and Lucas Seymore.  We only had 9 dog teams and 4 rifle team.  After reading other post here I can see why some hunters where upset with the numbers.  Again I am very sorry for the confusion on the matter.  The boy that had the table to raise money to go play in the CAN-AM football game raised about $70.  Yes; I bought $80 worth of raffle tickets for the event; $15 to Micheal and the rest for FFA.  All the hogs were donated to the WE CARE program in Palo Pinto Co.  The person running that organization said he would like to help next yr. and MIGHT be able to get a gun donated.  If that happens it will be an auction or raffle item!  I was planning on buying materials to build a dog box with some of the money raised and have student build the project take it to Ag mechanics shows and then give it as a prize or auction it off!  I would like input on how to make this better for next yr.  my email is pallen@gordonisd  ag shop phone is 254-693-5957 cell 254-631-4201

I hope that helps clear some things up but if not and you would like to contact the superintendent; Please contact me by phone or email give me your name an number your concern and I will have him call you.  I would like to give him heads up of your concern so he can have some understanding and if you want to come to the school board meeting you can tell him to put you on the ajenda.

Easiest way to say this is, y'all got a long row to hoe to come back from a deal like this, especially being the first contest and having this kind of uproar.

Your right but mr Allen has learned alot on how it is done and how to improve on it. Being the 1st year there is going to be some mistakes. But with me say that I think some of them should have not been made. I know he is going to make it alot better for next year. And I hope y'all give it another try in time

Deerman and Fixitloiue,

I did not get on here and call anyone names like you have done.  Simply responded to Luke Seymour and provided feedback regarding his contest.  As a matter of fact I had a long, civil conversation with Mr. Allen yesterday and he is a stand up guy who was put in a very difficult situation. This forum is for sharing experiences, good or bad, which I have done without insulting anyone.

However - if you two still feel the need to call me an immature little girl, I can easily arrange it so you can have that opportunity in person.

Man, I dont know you, and i didnt hunt this competition but the general feeling I get from it is that it was not a success for the most part.  I havent seen anyone bash another man on here until this.  You ARE implying people are cheaters and would have cheated if they had known there was no poly....  That is just complete stupidity man.  I have had the oppurtunity to hunt with a few of these guys and know for a fact that they wouldnt even consider it.  You need to watch what you say because what comes from a mans mouth is something that can affect him forever.  If you calling them cheaters because they were upset that the tournament wasnt ran how it was said to be, then what does that make the people who may have known?  Im not saying they did cheat, because personally I believe no one is sooooo desperate to win that they would cheat.  Putting your name out there if you were to get caught would never be worth it IMO.  You really need to watch how you word things or what you say.  If Luke said X amoutn of people are in it, and half that show up, then I wouldbe pissed too.  If I was putting in the time and effort and thought I could make a little money and come to find out by the time you divided it between mates, you didnt make jack then yea.... Thats upsetting, doesnt mean anyone is being a "little girl" about it.  Just watch what you say man.
