Post by: Rimfire on March 10, 2013, 12:46:10 pm
Please call or email your state representative David Fielding 870-234-6143 Bruce Maloch - bruce.maloch@senate.ar.gov. This bill will be voted on Wed 3/13/13

House Bill Number    HB 1478

This will prevent the capture, ownership, transport of a Feral Hog. This will mean no Bay Pens, Bow Pens etc..... in the state of Arkansas. This wil also help set a standard for other states to follow.

Basicly a 40 ac pen full of Barr hogs. It may be bigger but that's the gist. High fence hog hunting.

Bill passed saying we can no longer transport live hogs. It is HB1478 that passed. It is currently sitting on the governors desk. The only issues I see with it is the only high fence hog hunting places that can operate are the ones that are already in operation. It will also be illeagal to transport a live hog to ur home to use in a bay pen. The bay pen issue isn't that major for me. The way I read it tho is if u catch a pig say in a trap u can have it tested then once quarantine and testing is over it is now a domestic and can be hauled.

If u are caught with a live pig on a 4 wheeler, trailer, truck, or anything even if ur still in the woods where u caught it. The fine is $1000.00 and a felony. A tested pig that has tested clean will get a ear tag that u have to break to remove it. The tricky part on the first pig is in order to quarantine it u must have a second fence outside the first at 4ft away. Without the double fence they won't give it a clean bill of health and a tag.

How are you going to get it tested if you cant haul it out of the woods?

Take the vet to the trap. Other than that I ain't figured it out yet. I do have hogs come behind my house. If I trapped them here it would be easy to put up second fence and have the vet come to take blood sample.

they have to be in quarantine for 60 days before you can get them tested

Sounds like I need my trap on the pond so I don't have to haul water.
