Title: New hog laws in Arkansas
Post by: arkla hunter on June 06, 2013, 06:03:40 am
I dont know all the fine print (so if someone does pls jump in and give the hole scoop)  but from my understanding anyone caught transporting a live hog will be fined up to a $1000 plus could lose everything they have with them. (Truck, dogs, guns, ect). Also no baypens allowed. Anyone caught with penned hogs will face the same fine. Only way u can transport a wild hog is to tag it, have it dna tested and take 2 a hunting ranch 2 sell. No other hunting ranch are allowed 2 be opened but existing ranch can still operate as long as the fencing requirements are met. All ranches must have the fences inspected and pasted according 2 the new law.

Looks like its just one more place our rights are being taken away!!! I understand there concern with getting the hog numbers under control but this isnt the solution! If they wana make an impact on the hog population they prolly shouldnt piss off all the hog hunters. Now very few folks will ever kill a hog just bayem, catchem and turnem back. The problem they think they have will be twice as bad in 3 years!

What are yalls thoughts on this garbage?

I pretty much agree with everything you have said......BUT if one were to need a live hog at ones house it probly wouldn't be to hard to tie it up and hide it for the trip home  ;D ;)

I think it dang sure just weeded out any guys that are interested in getting started in the sport and trying to get dogs started. Easiest most effective way to start dogs is using bay pens and woods pens. Get pups introduced without getting em wrecked. Probably one of the most hindering laws yet glad I live in LA

Sounds exactly like the laws in Tennessee we have to smuggle hogs like  drugs here its pitiful its so bad that in stores the have wanted posters up that say $3,500.00 reward for any information leading to the arrest of anyone buying selling or transporting or relocating wild hogs and they are only 3 countys in the whole state where you can legally hunt them with dogs and you have to have a permit to do that Luckily I live in one of those countys and we fought like hell to get it legal here

Seems like a logical way to help get the problem solved would be to loosen the reigns on the hunters so they won't be in fear of being fined etc. and would be eager to help. Not the other way around

My thoughts are I will continue to catch hogs and if I want one in a pen, well good luck them proving it was not raised in a pen..

i don't agree with all the laws, a man aught to be able to do what he wishes with any hogs he catches.

part of the problem here, i believe, is all the public "advertisement" on the net pertaining to stocking places,  catch and release, pen raising and turning out, and people openly criticizing others for killing all their catches, etc.

when the right people read those types of statements (and they do), hog hunters become part of the problem, as a whole, not part of the solution. then laws are passed to crack down on these doings.

this is not directed at anybody, and is not meant to stir anything up, as i know well, there are very strong feelings both directions on the issue. just calling it how i see it, i could care less what a man does with his hogs.

Mississippi has the same laws. Hunters there still have hogs in pens and still transport hogs. I don't see anything changing because there is no one to enforce the laws.

Get a bunch of hunters together to fund enough corn to pour a corn trail from the woods to the courthouse lawn, the country club golf courses, and the high dollar neighborhoods. Don't kill or casturate any hogs for a few years........then sit back and wait.... they will change their minds.  8)

This is the reason I just bear hunt now. I wouldn't kill a hog in Tn if it was in my garden. Bunch of CRAP!
