Annual Penelope FFA Varmint/Hog Hunt Fundraiser

Hunt date: October 26-27, 2013
Registration at 8:00 AM October 26th Begin Hunting at 9:00 AM October 26th Check In at 10:00 AM Sunday October 27th

Signups/ check in/ Weigh in will be held at the Penelope Volunteer Fire Department Building****ONLY CASH WILL BE ACCEPTED AT REGISTRATION ON OCTOBER 26TH****
On-site Registration is not mandatory as long as MAIL IN ENTRIES are received on or before October 19th, 2013.  Mail in entries are payable by CASH, CHECK, or MONEY ORDER.

Breakfast Tacos will be served to all teams attending the Weigh in on October 27th at 10:00 AM!

$100 per team (up to 4 hunters per team).
50% payout (for each contests)
10 entered teams= 2 Place Payout
15+ Entered Teams= 3 Place Payout
The weekend will consist of two contests in the same weekend, hog hunt/varmint hunt.  Teams can enter both contests for $200 or one contest for $100.  There will also be side pots for both contests that will be winner take all ($5 from each entry for side pots will go towards Penelope FFA fundraiser) .

Both Contest will have JACKPOT OPTIONS that are available for buy in for each team entered.  Each jackpot will be winner take all. $25 per Jackpot Category ($5 of each entry will go towards fundraiser for Penelope FFA)

**Head Shots will be counted ONLY from the bottom jaw up, and if there are no other holes in the body cavity of the animal.  Judges decisions will be final.

VARMINT CALLING CONTEST RULES
1.   Everyone hunting in the contest must have a valid 2013/2014 Valid Texas Hunting License and hunters must follow all TPWD Hunting Laws and Regulations. No road hunting.
2.   Hunting is allowed anywhere in the state of Texas that you have permission to hunt or on State Land where varmint/ hog hunting is legal and you have the necessary permit and license.
3.   All animals must be called.  An animal must at a minimum, stop and look at the call before you shoot.  If you are driving across the pasture and spot an animal you must come a complete stop, call, make the animal respond, and then you can shoot.
4.   Trolling is allowed.  You may run the call while driving and shoot an animal as long as you adhere to rule 3.
5.   No hunting bait piles or dragging dead animals to hunt over.  If an animal dies on its own then you may hunt by it.  If the landowner drags dead livestock to an area (and he is not entered in the contest) you may hunt the area.
6.   Hunters can split into 2 groups as long as it’s on the same property and only one vehicle is used.  A backup vehicle can be left at the gate. ATV/UTV are allowed.
7.   No pooling of animals or adding weight to an animal.
8.   No trapping animals or using dogs to catch, bay, or track animals.
9.   No hunting out of boats or aircraft.
10.   All animals must be killed during tournament hours.
11.   Kids are encouraged to participate and just sign them up as a member of your team. Kids under 18 must be hunting with a parent to participate.
12.   Entry fees must be mailed and received by the Saturday before the event or paid in cash at Official Check-In at the Penelope Volunteer Fire Department Building.
13.   You do not have to Check-In in person but rules must be read aloud over the phone to at least one team member prior to the end of the day Saturday the 19th.

15.   Teams are responsible for proper disposal of all animals that are brought to weigh in.

CONTEST WILL BE JUDGED ON A POINT SYSTEM AS FOLLOWS:
LION- 250 pts      
REDFOX- 50 pts      RACCOON- 10 pts (limit 10)
BOBCAT- 40 pts
COYOTE- 30 pts
GREY FOX- 15 pts
