Title: Anyone else have a bulldog in the twenty pound range?
Post by: MrsLouisianaHogDog on January 21, 2014, 11:26:43 am
Figured this may be a long shot, since most prefer heavier bulldogs for catching, but if anyone has a bulldog weighing in somewhere in the twenties I'd love to see! Here's a little b*tch of mine that is creeping up on a year old. Caught this cell shot of her yesterday. She's about 20-23 lbs soaking wet, but don't let the small package fool you, she's ALOT of dog, lol.

She's a shade over 30 lbs.  I haven't really messed with her except throwing her in a pen and I did get her to catch eventually, she went and caught an ear.  She got loose and caught a steer calf a few weeks ago, so took her to the woods and bayed a good Barr that night, she didn't wanna have nothing to do with the bay.  I haven't exposed her to much to bays or hogs so couldn't blame nothing but myself.  She is on a short string here though.

I don't know what it is ben but I've got a thing for yella currs and black bulldogs. She is a fine specimen as far as build goes, hope she turns it on for you.

Nothing against any of the other dogs as there are some sure enough fine little dogs in this thread but for one reason or another i've always been partial to a black bulldog. I believe it may be Ryantbh on here that owns a black bulldog gyp named jane, she has to be one of the best lookin bulldogs ive seen, solid, small, hard, all business lookin type dog.

Hey cutnshoot I really like the looks of yours. I bet she is a ball of fire. I had a little redboy gyp that looked similar, one of the most hyper dogs I ever had, always was at 110%, everything with her was live action lol.

@ sanman, your LuLu is adorable, lol. I used to own a little black bitch that looked almost just like her....made me reminisce.

This ped is named/posted under the guy who I regretfully sold her to, but here's how she was bred. Only dog I ever owned with blood like that, and she left not much to desire out of a dog, all 17 pounds of her!

http://www.apbt.online-pedigrees.com/modules.php?name=Public&file=printPedigree&dog_id=310793

The Ablizin's Daddy dog, my old aquantance Mr. Wood had him imported over here straight from Dimitri himsef. Pretty intense line of dogs.

I don't run any of that blood now, but I wouldn't hesitate to try it again if the opportunity ever arose.

Mrs. La, she was a pick up. Don't know squat about her, but she is an awesome little dog. Don't make a peep, and turning into a pretty nice little catch dog. Built her a vest and collar awhile back. Had to do some modifications on the vest since then.

Looks good!! Well, all in all, a good dog is where you find 'em.
When you're in bulldogs for a good while, you come to be able to recognize 'a look' exclusive to certain lines of dogs, if that makes sense. Funny because I'll see dogs with unknown history picked up, and I always wonder, where they came from, and what line of dogs they could have possibly been off of going by these 'looks.'

She's a good looking girl for sure.

Good lookin dogs everyone. I think over time its been forgotten exactly what pitbulls looked like. They were not these mammonth sized 120# plus eating machines people see in rap videos. They were 40# an under and 40# was a big dog then. I like seeing these dogs out there gettin it done. Just another example of the old saying, " it ain't the size of the dog in the fight, its the size of the fight in the dog" . Once again good lookin dogs everyone.

Ryan wishes he owned her! Lol Jane is a little closer to 40 lbs. than 20 but still what I consider a fairly small bulldog. Shes caught a few hundred hogs for me the last few years and has taken some pretty bad hits without a thought of quiting. She isnt perfect by any stretch and might be considered a cull on someone else's yard but I have no doubt she will do her job or die trying day in and day out and there's something about that that I respect.

Always a crap shoot no matter where they come from. I've seen pits out of parents that were great catch dogs have no interest at all. And got them from the pound and they catch rock solid and would go in on the devil himself. Even if you buy a "guaranteed catch dog" from someone else there's always a reason they don't want it anymore.... Then again one mans trash is another mans treasure. Just got to keep trying them till you find one YOU like not wat someone else does

These are some fine looking dogs. I've always liked red dogs for some reason around the 50lb mark. They get a bad name for the bad people that have them just like the sorry people that have other types of dogs. But I have always been amazed at the pain they can endure without giving up. I have seen them on quiet a few occasions caught and be bleeding out at the same time and never give up I don't think it's any other breed of animal with that type of heart they have. I just thought I would put that in there. It's no other type of dog I had rather crawl in a thicket behind than a bulldog because I know they won't give up on you until they die

Not full Pit, but this is Ringo and Molly. Brother and Sister Jagd/Pit cross. About 30lbs each. My Jagd breeder decided to give it a try. Bred his Stud Jagd to a Game Pit gyp. Same Sire as my Jagds, so they are 1/2 siblings to mine.

They are hell on hogs and they destroy coyotes and coons

Not full Pit, but this is Ringo and Molly. Brother and Sister Jagd/Pit cross. About 30lbs each. My Jagd breeder decided to give it a try. Bred his Stud Jagd to a Game Pit gyp. Same Sire as my Jagds, so they are 1/2 siblings to mine.

They are hell on hogs and they destroy coyotes and coons

I wish these were my dogs. I dont have any room for more than my 2 current jagds right now. I'm in the middle of a move right now, might get one of these if the breeder makes this cross again.

PS: How can you say a jagd is ugly? haha

Swine dogger, I just got a bulldog yesterday that looks identical to him(http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/06/28/u9e4ebap.jpg)

I'll try to get a better pic later. He's about 35-40 pounds, but hasn't seen a hog yet

He's about a year and a half, but I'm in Georgia so I doubt there's any relation but who knows.

Bad news on my mini gyp. She has a bad under bite that I didn't notice first hand. Showed her a pig and while she was trying to catch, she kept slipping off. Just thought mabe she was biting. But afterwards I seen her with her lip tucked (seen it before on underbite dogs) so I checked her and sure nough he had an underbite big time ha. Good news is my wife LOVES her and she's the sweetest little dog. She wants to keep her since she lets us know if something changes outside ha. (http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/17/a5ape3ar.jpg)
I could still use her to get some pups fired up cuz she hated that hog and wasn't scared at all :)

I've got a female AB with a at least a 1/4 inch underbite and she will catch like a steel trap.  She also has nubby teeth. I don't think it is the underbite.

This is Chongo (monkey in Spanish) he's supposedly a pure bred APBT but I think he's just way to big and leggy. He's 3 months probably 15-18 pounds and I'd say about 13 inches tall maybe. (http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/01/27/4f209f599c763dbee570f31cc25f9d37.jpg)
