Title: Need help fast
Post by: texasboy11 on July 21, 2014, 09:16:23 pm
I have a male dog I am wanting pups out of and I have a jam up gyp in heat and he just won't breed her. He will smell on her and get real excited but that's it.. You put another male in there he jumps on her and she pulls her tail to the side ready to breed. Ever seen this?

Leave them in the pen for a while he might have to warm up to it

And I mean you take the original male out and put another one in there the other male will try and breed her.. She is on day 10-12

Got a bulldog like that. Sometimes ya gotta get a bit more hands on than you'd like.  :-\  All depends on how bad you want pups off him. Unfortunately it isn't always as easy as throwin em in a pen together.

How old is he? Has he ever bred before? I had a 2yr old male that was the same way n like ms dianna said, u may hav to take the hands on approach. Thats what the vet told me. I did what the vet said to do n the male did what he needed to do. Iv had to do it withfirst time breeding stud horses too.

Take them both to the vet & let them A.I. her. Time is running out for you.

I Agree with Cajun. Just had the same thing happen. Even taking a hands on approach will not work if he will not mount her!! All you will get is sticky hands!!! Lol....

If he wont climb aboard, u may hav to hav some1 help him get on her n then guide his business in n c if he will go to town. If not, then as cajun and tazd backed. Take hit to the vet n let them rub 1 out for him n then ia her. At the same time or before spending the $ on ia, hav the vet do a sperm count to make sure the male aint blowing ur $ by shooting blank or a low count.

I got a male dog that's ignorant in this category too. The first time I bred him he fooled around with her and I got him by the collar and put him up on her and he went to it then. Try putting him up on her and he should try then. If he hits all around you may have to aim for him.

All he will do I jump on her then get off.. Maybe it's when he's ready so I just left them penned up and I'll know in 2 months

It's gross and feels really dang wrong, but as already stated, you may have to "guide him to his target" once he feels "it" nature should take over from there.

Terry, U think the dog is wrong, try a horse. Its like 20x the size n a lot more messier.  :o

Depend on how bad u want them pup depends on how far ull help him produce them. Like i said earlier, have some1 help him up n u guide it to the target. If he is baling off, hav the other person hold him up there while u line it up for him.

Yes we've had to support the bitch, position the male, direct the missile to its target to get this one male to breed. Not for the faint of heart, or the immature, haha. Darn near had to do everything BUT provide the swimmies.

gotta do whats needed if u want the cross bad enough.

But that's better than having to rub 1 out for the dog to check his swimmer count. Didn't enjoy it, but I wanted the cross. It was like I was violating him, but I don't think he minded.  ;D

I've had to do most of those things at one time or another but not any more. It costs me $45 to take um to the sperm bank [ICSB] up here and let em do a vaginal AI. I took some collateral damage one time and don't really want to do that again!

if he will stroke at it a few times they you can breed him, you just have to be ready and have a extra person there to hold the male up on her. you can just leave him in the pen with her but after she goes out you will have that feeling that you wish you would of just done more and its just depending on how you want  the puppies

Lots of times when you start forcing him on her he will get nervous or the gyp gets nervous. I tried it with my last male and he would not even get on her and she sat down! If they cannot figure it out, then they do not get t breed in my yard! Moved on to her son, and it was a done deal! Wanted the breeding to stay tight any ways, so it probably happened for a reason!!
Now if he is mounting and she is flagging that's a different deal all together! Grab his junk and guide it in! That simple! Hoping they breed when you have not seen it, and really wanting a litter from the 2, you better take a proactive approach or it will be another year till you get the pups you were wanting.
