Title: Cd dog stud
Post by: Judge peel on January 10, 2017, 12:47:56 pm
We'll have tryed and looked high and low for a dog to breed this dog to and have not been successful. You won't find a better cd then this one. Would like to get two or 3 pups out of the deal. Color don't matter but build and temperament will size to don't want no 80 lb bulldog (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170110/b33fecde8607d3588112b68fb647368d.jpg)

Any idea on his bloodline?

Title: Re: Cd dog stud

The blood line is unknown. But one look at him and u can tell he is very well bred. When he catches a hog you can tell he is cream of the crop. He rides in the cab of my truck and sleeps with my boy in his bed. Never offered to catch any thing other than a pig. Never has fought with another dog. Leads around like a charm will fly to a bay regardless the distance. Needs no help holding a pig. So with that being said what ever a paper might tell you it will never tell u all these things

What that pedigree might tell you is the likelihood of him reproducing those traits, undesirable traits that he may not be expressing but are in the genetics, etc.

That's great that paper can tell you what the ancestors of that dog did. But I know the dogs before him where good and they can be vouched for but there is no paper trail on them. I know folks put a lot of stock in the papers of a dog. For hog hunting I do not. It boils down to the individual dog works or it don't and that is the truth. You could have ten paper dogs and ten no paper dogs one from hog hunters one from none hog hunter. I would go with the hunters word not the paper dogs. Don't mean they aren't good or what ever. Know if I was in it for money and name sake I would be all about the papers

I like to know what is in the dog's genes. The papers do not tell the whole story of the dog though. The fact that you know what the dogs before him were about and what they have produced is the same thing as having a pedigree, it just isn't written. I can look at an APBT's pedigree and have an idea of what he "should" be like but I have never seen or heard of a dog that could read so what the ped says he should do does not always hold true. I know a lot of old dog men that had hand written peds for all of their dogs. Some of them matched what was on the dog's registration papers and some did not. I was asking about bloodline because he looks a lot like some of the dogs that I have had for the last 20 years. How much does the dog weigh? Has he been bred before?

I'm with judge on this, papers might tell you there history, but it sure ain't gonna tell you their future.

Tmatt I already posted the answers to your ? But here they are again 55 lb and no. I don't just breed to breed I am very picky. Holler at me and we can hunt and I will show u why I put no stock in papers

I didn't see the answer to how much he weighed... I looked back through the posts and see where I missed it, my bad. I see where you said y'all have looked high and low for one but nowhere did it say he has never been bred. I completely agree with not breeding just to breed. Too many people breed dogs that should have been could to begin with. Like I said, I have never seen a dog that can read so papers aren't what I base any breeding on. The dog has to be worth breeding first and foremost. How long have you had that dog? He is a good looking dog. Let's set something up. I'd be happy to see a good one work.

I put zero stock in a papered dog versus non papered. But the pedigree of the dog is important to me. Be it hand written or from a registry, it can provide useful knowledge when attempting to make better dogs. If you have hands on experience with the dogs before him, then you are familiar with the dogs pedigree at least to that extent.
To me the pedigree is just a piece of the puzzle to go along with the performance requirements, temperament, etc.
I hope you find the gyp you're looking for...it's a shame when you have a good dog and can't get any pups from them.

Mr. judge this dog may not meet your build criteria but she has absolutely everything else. She is one of the best dogs on my yard if not the best
