Title: Dna Testing Kits?
Post by: l.h.cracker on March 01, 2020, 11:26:00 am
I know this has been discussed previously but I can't seem to find it.

I purposely bred my best female Cypress to two males Hambone and his Great Grandsire. The reason being is that the Grandsire is very old with a low sperm count(I had him drawn and he only had 180,000 live count)but is a proven producer of great dogs and I have been waiting to breed Cypress for 2yrs and didn't want to miss this cycle.I figured either sire would produce what I like so why not try for both.My question is have any of yall used a dna testing kit and what lab did you use?I hope to have pups from both that would really ramp up my program in a hurry but need to know either way. Thanks

DDC vet
Haven’t used myself but have been recommended by some good dogmen to me

I have talked with them on the phone tho- seem to be fairly simple

I appreciate the responses Goose I remembered you giving the prices if you can find it I'd appreciate it.
Thanks Muddy I'll look them up.I'm gonna check a couple sources out cause a $15 difference each sample with 9 pups is worth checking around.

I have used DDC Veternairian. They will want you to submit dna samples on the mother and both sires plus all the pups. They charge 38.00 for each sample tested. They will send you the dna kits.

Here’s the link to the company I found that was more reasonably priced...

Notts problem contemplating on doing it myself with my old girl b!tch, once in a lifetime dog and puts it in her pups and she’s getting old, I found myself getting in my emotions a little when I took her out for the first time since May and really noticed the grey building up around her muzzle, turned her loose for the first time that day after noon, and by dark we wasn’t worried tying another dang hog, it was to the point of let one person worry with the hog and catch dog and the rest ambush girl as she rolled out, don’t know how much more time the Good lord is going to bless my life by allowing me to apart of hers before she’s gone so I got to pick, choose, and time it all wisely, have you read up on it anywhere on the best results from what procedures....

Have you given any thought into putting the old male on a sperm builder of any type?

Goose I took him to the south Florida breeding Institute to have him collected last May but his count was to low only 180,000 which is to low to freeze. They like to see 800,000 + on account of dead loss. They gave me a script of "cf-plus(LB)" and told me it was the best semen booster on the market and they see very good results with it.It also helps stabilization of a bitches cycles.I kept him on it twice a day until I did this breeding so we'll see.
