Title: Bite force of a Dogo Post by: HIGHWATER KENNELS on April 07, 2020, 05:40:50 pm This past weekend I seen first hand the bite force that a male Dogo of ours has on a big Barr. When my son legged the hog he told me he heard bones cracking in the front toward the head of the hog. We were concerned with our male dogs teeth cause he normally doesn’t catch on the snout and has always been a ear dog. I think the position of the hog made it hard for him to just flank him and we only had loose dogs on the Barr so he didn’t get any help from them in positioning himself. The Mingus dogo I hunted for Cscott last year had a helluva bite... I had to cut the ears of a lot of hogs to get him off. Title: Re: Bite force of a Dogo Post by: Cajun on April 07, 2020, 07:34:43 pm Not downplaying your Dogos bite by any means but bull dogs that are nose dogs generally break the snout on any hog they catch. My Hammer dog was notorious for this and we tried to keep him on big hogs but he still broke their snout. still takes a heck of a bite no matter what breed of dog it is.

I had just never seen it because all of ours have always been ear dogs and not snout. I’m kind of like Mike and like it when I can tap on the cd head and he releases and not break ur wrist with the breaking stick lol.

I have to check w/Chris to be sure but we crossed my ppc female up to his male that just died, that is related to mingus if i remember right and at a yr old not only did the 2 we keep start early (6 mo in controlled situation/ caught first hog he ever saw) same with his brother clue "the old man' on here but they are hard as nails with break stick needed or your back will need a chiropractor after pulling them off lol Ive been VERY impressed with all the dogs from them. La cocha bred, my first experience with anything other than ppc/LADOGOS that were to my liking. |
