We hunt old mine property so we got some monsters. Been huntin there for years first time its happened to me. We avoid the pits with aggressive gators in warm weather and thought we would be OK but we were wrong last night. It happens but were working on getting the collar back and given that youngun some piece of mind. I trapped for the state for a little while and my experience with Gators is if they have the opportunity they will take it nothing you can do or say to stop em other than lead to the skull.

Yea I'm central Florida every time you hear water splash your heart drops. Unfortunately most the hogs around here run straight to water. Gator never grabs the hog

What batteries do yahl have the best luck with in your garmin. I've been running cheap alkaline and only getting a few hours out of it. I heard lithium is the way to go but is there any particular brand anybody prefers for long life?

Hardcore makes a collar that use the garmin and quick track collar to hold the cut collar on. Its not what you mentioned but may work for what you need.

IMO a hog is a smart animal and has the capabity to think through a situation. If that hog in that very moment feels running is going to increase his chance of survival hes gonna do it. If he thinks holdin still is be better its gonna do that. I dont know about yahl but i look at it as when i go to the woods the hogs already know im there. Im no expert but thats my opinion

He was given to me by a freind of the family when he was 9 months old so i dont know any of his parents traits. He was not started when i got him i put him on about 8-10 so far he hunts 50-100 yards out without hot sign when he gets a hog stopped he trys to catch unless it whoops him then he backs up and gives it space but dont bay he just stares it down
