I haven't posted in awhile between work and everything else goin on I just haven't had the time. We decided to go Wednesday night after meet the the teacher, my 4yr old boy starts pre-k this year. He got word that we were going and begged me to come. I tried telling him we needed to start a schedule, he starts school Monday. His response was, "please dad just 1 more time before school starts, I just wanna catch a boar hog and I know we will." So I loaded the little number 2 up and headed to Brent's. Went to a place we haven't hunted in awhile , we started about 8:00 and was gone by 10:00. Dogs bayed this little boar hog right off the bat. Lil Mitch was super excited. We also took Aldo with us, that was his first ever hog in the woods. Me and lil Mitch with that boar hog he wanted to look at. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Update is he is doing better, the ligament in the heart isn't moving as sporadically as it was. However it's is still moving in there and causing him lots of problems. He'll have to stay in bed rest and blood thinners for the next 6-8 weeks to see if that ligament is gonna do something with itself. If not the outlook isn't good. For now he's home and comfortable.

"Shoot The Moon Doggers" and that's it mostly because after we caught a good barr hog on a wet Sunday Clayton popped the top on a lone star bottle and under the cap it said "shoot the moon" he asked if that'd be a good team name, we voted and it stuck. I'd just like to add that I like "Jewett, tx whipper snappers" it just sounded good.

Yes mam, a specialist at a&am had to see the pictures and video from the ultra sound just to believe our vet that this was the case. As for the fight in him, I wish I had half of what he has.

Ok so just an update, Kreig does not have coondog paralysis. We did and ultra sound on his heart this morning and the results are not good. As it was explained to me. On 1 of the 4 chambers in his heart there are 4 tendons that control the valve that releases blood to the body, the aorta is the vein it supply's. The 3rd tendon down has come loose and is currently flopping uncontrollably in his heart, this has caused the white blood cells to attack just as they would with any other wound. This has caused a clot, which explains why he's been unable to use his front legs. This is a condition that is almost unheard of in dogs, a&am has never seen this happen it's only been talked about. Luckily my vet just returned from a dog heart convention, this condition was touched on while she was there so she thought of the ultra sound of his heart. Sadly but surely because it is so rare the only thing we can do is give him blood thinners to hopefully clear the clot. The idea is that this will clear the clot while giving that 1 tendon time to retract out of the pathway its obstructing. If it works he'll be fine, if not well the outlook ain't good. I realize most of you have that 1 dog that loosing would devastate, this his him for me. Surely hope this sucker pulls through.

No sir, been laid up in the house for the last month. I've got some young prospects I've been using. He ain't done nothin except eat, sleep, and sh** and most of that in ac. Really caught me off guard just because of that reason. He ain't been no where near the woods.

Ya if I said I was down and out that'd be an under statement, I know some view that a bulldog should only be takin off the chain to work, however it ain't mine. This one lives in my hip pocket, kinda like a shadow. He goes to work with me everyday and anywhere else I go. He's more like 1 of our kids, if they can't go neither can we. It'd sure put a dent iny heart if something was to happen to him, my family and I understand he's a cd and that any hunt could be his last, that don't change the fact that I hope it never happens. He's at a very good vet and I'd trust em with more than just my dog so I'm sure he'll pull through whatever it is. Just hope it happens fast or ima have a very upset 4 year old when I get he this evening, I'll have some explaining to do for sure.

So after we hunted the tournaments this year I decided to let my cd take at least the summer off and if something else stepped up I was gonna let him lay up in the house. I decided to go to town yesterday and he goes every where with me so he jumped in the truck. Got over to Brents house and he was down in the front end. Was kinda acting like he'd gotten to hot. Was panting real hard and just wouldn't move his front legs at all. We looked him over and tried to see if he'd cool down if he did indeed get to hot for some reason. 30 minutes went by so I called the vet and ran him over there. After a couple X-rays she said he had some fractured vertebrae and a pinched nerve. They did some laser therapy and some chiropractic work on him. He also got a muscle relaxer shot and she said he'd be 100% better by this morning but that'll his catching days are more than likely over. Well it's 7:35 and he's in bad shape, had to carry him out the house this morning and help him use the bathroom. He can't stand on move his front legs at all. I've got him with me at work so I can take him back to vet when they open. Anyone ever had this happen or heard of it happening? he hasn't acted like he's in pain until this morning when he started whimpering, he acted like he was in a bad position, I rolled him over and laid him out straight as shown in the pic and he seemed to be alittle better. "Whopper" is out of Brent's male dog "wayno" who is a kemmer cur/ybmc/bulldog cross I believe that's right. He's a jam up dog, longe range, seems to stop lots of hogs. hes the yella dog. "Baby girl" is his momma, she's a very good gyp. Super longe range, lots of energy, hits the ground running and is gone type of dog. Don't have a pic of her but she's out of line of dogs from an older man over in east Texas. I picked whopper from the start he was kinda small and looked like a coyote when I brought home, but here lately he's started to fill out and looks to have the potential to be a good dog. Time will tell he's still under a year old. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hadn't posted nothin for us since we hunted montys hunt so here's what we've had goin on. Couple weeks ago Clayton went on a pleasure hunt with his brother in law, wife, and almost his daughter but she decided to stay and play with my little boy so they went at it with out her. They ended up catching 3: a small sow, a small boar hog, and a real nice Barr hog. Clayton had a time with Barr and ended swimming after him in a slew and having to drown him. Ended up coming to my house to get help to drag him out. He got skinned and I made breakfast sausage the other night clayton and his brother in law. We also made alittle run Sunday, mostly with pups and Brent's new bulldog he wanted to try. Tried 1 spot and caught this lil boar hog roaming around, added him to the Barr population. didn't di to much after that so loaded up and hit another spot up the road and ended up with 3 more. Nothin to big we ended up adding a couple to the Barr population and got some good puppy work. My little "whopper" pup really made me proud. 2nd time to the woods and showing lots of potential, owe a thanks to Brent for letting me get him out of his wayno and baby girl breeding. me, Brent, and whopper. This is alittle off the tree on the chicken coop topic, halfbreed sorry about that. I just go into the chicken business what's this about thunder killing and web feet. Pls explain I've got a couple hens sitting eggs now, this is the first ones I've tryed to hatch. We've had some bad weather here(jewett) lately, should I expect some duds.
