let him see a few get caught and if they small enough duct tape their mouth shut and let him on with another cd, let him maul a piglet, start em as young as possible i reckon, just make sure its nothin thats guna pizzle em and put em off, if he's runnin with another rcd then let him at six months, but if he's guna be the only dog on the ground and the first there to catch you might wana let him mature up and get some power about him.

because you get to direct raw instinct into a precision hog hunter. the pay off of seeing that little pup turn into a good dog due to all the hard work and time put into them. plus rifle hunting was gettin too easy for me. haha. but since i substituted a rifle with a knife i couldn't hit a barn door with a shotgun :p lol

go for it mate. staghound, deerhound and wolfhound X bull blood are some of the best dogs out over here. i'd put him over a stocky little bitch with a big head so it evened out a nice size. if it were me. each to their own i guess.

crackerc- pointers have excellent noses and used in lots of crosses over here and are one of three breeds used to create the bull arab. the most widely used and proven runnin catch dogs in the country. to us the bull arab is as popular as BMC's are to you guys. i was just puttin the pointer bulldog idea out there. i know the most guaranteed you can get is to get pups from proven parents

bull arabs are the pretty much the only pure breed used over here, and they were developed from bull terrier, greyhound, english pointer. they're just insane all rounders. flat, hilly, thick, open. good noses too. everything else is a bitsa. we use everything over here. lol. pretty much most dogs are mastiff, bully type breeds crossed with running dogs, staghound, wolfhound, danes then gundog, hound types for nose. in the early days most used bull terrier blue cattle dog crosses.

just wonderin how good you's think a hogs nose is. do you think they could wind about three kilograms of sorghum grain from around 400 metres given the wind was right? kuz our dam was the only water around and it would have easy to catch em but now its rained theres water closer to thick cover so their not comin into ours. but i know their pretty thick around 400 metres away. just have no reason to wonder that way anymore. i was thinkin start feedin em where they are then every day put the feed closer and closer so they eventually find the trap. i could move the trap to a good place but its a big job.
