HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Tuesday night boar
on: November 18, 2011, 03:54:43 pm
My buddy Scott and brother in law Richard turned out on a new place Tuesday night... Turned out to be a good spot. We had this guy bayed twenty minutes after turning loose... Only problem was the dogs decided to bay him on the wrong side of the river... Took us two and a half hours to get him out there! If we hadn't promised the ranch foreman we would bring him anything we caught, he would still be where we found him... Lol On our way to the new place about 2 miles from the ranch head quarters on a county road, we saw a boar that would go over three hundred easy... Took everything we had to keep the dogs in the box! On the way out close to the same spot a group of twenty or more hogs crossed in front of us.. four of which will easily go over 200... Needless to say we now have permission on another new spot!! Hope to have some new stories soon... from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk

THE CLASSIFIEDS / THE DOG TRADE / Finished strike dog
on: June 07, 2011, 12:37:28 pm
6yr old male 3/4 BMC x 1/4 Lab He is a finished strike dog that will defiantly find you a lot of hogs. He has been hunted by walking, roading and four wheeler.... He usually hunts out 100 to 200 yards until he gets in fresh sign then he hunts out as far as it takes. He is a great winding dog that really does his best when hunting grain fields but will also take a trail. He is silent on trail and if he is barking it is at a hog... Blue bays real hard and catches with the catch dog but has not been cut in the two years I've had him.. We purchased this dog from a guy in East Texas to help train pups with and he did very well at that. I can give you several references to check into…… I believe M Bennet of the board hunted with this dog a couple of years ago will give him a good reference as well... He is not a burn up the woods kind of dog like the pups he has trained..... which is the only reason we are selling him. The one fault I can give him is you have to load him.... he will come to you and has a good handle, just will not load on his own…. 1,000.00 one week trial Located in Snyder TX (West Texas) Michael - 325-207-3397 email raisingkaynekennels@gmail.com

HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Bay Pen Idea's
on: March 31, 2011, 12:33:06 pm
I am looking to build a new bay pen this summer and would like some help with the design...... I'm going all out on this one and it may be used for competitions as well. Mostly a practice pen but would like to have holding pens attached. Any size ideas, water setups, trap door designs, walkway's etc. I'd like it to be were one man could work dogs if possible... Would appreciated any Pic's if you have any... My main dilemma is how to build the main pen as far as.... would tin around the bottom work better than just panels or plywood or is there something better?

HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / How do your dog's Celebrate?
on: March 15, 2011, 05:06:28 pm

While posing for a few pictures after catching a nice boar......... we soon learned how our dogs like to celebrate themselves..... It’s a hell of a thing to have to wait on while there are more hogs to be caught!
