5  THE CLASSIFIEDS / CLASSIFIED ADS / Gas powered Air Compressor on: January 02, 2012, 11:13:24 am
Has a Kohler 10 hp motor. I had it running a couple of weeks ago and it pumped up air presser in the tank, but I think it needs the carb rebuilt as I couldnt keep it running. I have the manual for the motor and from what I can tell it’s a  Saylo-Beall system. I dont know much about this, I picked it up a few months ago and just have not had the time to mess with it. $ 400.00 or lets see what you have to trade.
The compressor is in La Porte

I wish I could take some of the credit for these two dogs, but truth be known, the credit needs to go to Mr. Robert (Bob) Cox for his knowledge of the breed and ability to put together the breeding’s that made these dogs, and Mr. Douglas Mason for his skills and knowledge to get them started off right.

The only thing I have done is feed and take care of them.

I am grateful to both these men for having the wisdom, foresight, and ability to bring all the needed traits together in these two dogs for the makings of what I hope to be the foundations to build my hunting string from.
7  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Lets see them Yellow dogs Mr. Cox has been breeding on: August 20, 2011, 09:58:07 pm
I have had privilege of calling Robert Cox my friend for the past 3 years. I have two dogs that came from Mr. Cox, one is the ACE dog Mr. Mason talked about, and the other is a female I call REBA that is at Mr. Mason right now. The ACE dog is (by my calculations off his pedigree) a littler over 70% WB.

Mr. Cox has had a couple of dogs from Ben Jordan and I know one of the them was a dog called Maggie that he really thought was an outstanding dog. Now I can’t speak about him and Mr. Wright, but to my knowledge he has never had any direct dealings with Mr. Wright.

Mr. Cox started looking at the WB dogs about eight years ago and couldn’t find one that fit what he was looking for in his dogs. A few years later, he ran across TANK, a high % WB and liked what the seen in that dog and bred some dogs to him and liked the results.

I ran across a post Mr. Cox had another forum that I think really explains his thought and feeling towards these yellow dogs better than I can, here it is;

I have settled on Blackmouth Curs. I have seen some awesome crossbred dogs, catahoulas, etc.Have had and tried some different lines of Black Mouth Curs. As time has gone by and my opinion of what a good dog is has changed. I have gone to running the old Stock type BMC to the high percentage Weatherfords Ben dogs. Have a few bloodline pedigree names I look for in any new blood I may bring in.
It's a lot of work but very gratifying when you see your best laid plans and hopes come together. It often does not. I really give credit to the men who created the dogs and those that have kept their stock true so that we can have the opportunity to work some of these dogs or attempt to make them suit our individual needs today.
 I got into attempting to breed dogs I would like because I had gone through so many that weren't worth keeping. Spent good money on dogs that would not even make help dog status just to cull them out.
It came down to having to "luck" into a good dog and hope it never dies or gets killed. If it does I was back where I started.
Part of the down side is at times having to put a dog up for a later breeding than risk getting it killed. The upside is having the dogs to hunt that suit you.

11  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: PLEASE HELP!!!!!!! on: August 26, 2009, 10:54:02 pm
It would seem to me that this would, at minimum, be a civil case, but I would think you may still be able to get law enforcement involved. While it is true that in Texas a person has the right to kill a dog or coyote that is attacking livestock, I would have to say that if the officer who responded to the call documented in his report or recorded what this person said in regards to beating the dog to death with a pipe may be in your favor in a civil suit. You may want to look at;

Texas Penal Code sec. 42.092. Cruelty to Nonlivestock Animals -

(Cool “Torture” includes any act that causes unjustifiable pain or suffering.

(b) A person commits an offense if the person intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly:

(1) tortures an animal or in a cruel manner kills or causes serious bodily injury to an animal;

(d) It is a defense to prosecution under this section that:

1) the animal was discovered on the person's property in the act of or after injuring or killing the person's livestock animals or damaging the person's crops and that the person killed or injured the animal at the time of this discovery;

I would think  this person would have to prove that your dog had injured or klilled one of his livestock animals first off, and second that it was justified it BEAT this animal to death. I would not think the law was written to include the killing of an animal in a cruel manner.

I think the advised given by Silverton Boar Dogs is on the mark "My advise to you is to go talk to the sheriff yourself, and then talk to the DA."

Sorry for your loss, and best of luck to you.

Just a foot note, the Bell County animal laws are on line at http://www.bellcountytx.com/Sheriff/animalcontrol.pdf

and it states in Sec. 3.02

“3.02 The Animal Control Officer or any peace officer shall be authorized to capture and
impound any stray cat or dog and place said cat or dog in an authorized animal shelter. The Animal Control
Officer or any peace officer may issue a citation to the owner of a stray cat or dog whether or not the
animal is subsequently impounded.”

Also in the definitions, an Animal Shelter is defined as;

1.03 "Animal shelter" means any facility used for the purpose of impounding and/or caring for
animals that is operated by a humane society, another governmental entity, a private entity, a veterinarian,
or Bell County, and which meets all standards for such facility as required by law and the Texas
Department of Health.
15  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Upsetting phone call on: July 06, 2009, 11:25:36 am
While I would have to agree with Circle C on the fact that both parties must share in the responsibility of the fate of this animal, I would have to say that the Animal Control may still be liable for the end result, as the animal was in their care, custody, and control at the time of the animals’ death. As with a humane that is taken into Police custody, a certain level of responsibility and care are assumed by that agency. Please don’t misunderstand me, I am in no way comparing an animals’ life to the value of a humans’ life, just using it as an example for the assumed level of responsibility.

I would make sure that you have all of the facts regarding the incident from both sides. Most Animal Control Agencies do their best to insure the animals in their custody are housed in a safe manner and can reasonably prevent the animal from injury or escape. I would make sure that the Animal Control Officer who picked up the dog followed procedure for impounding the animal and if he/she did not, then you might have a leg to stand on as for holding them financially responsible for the dog.

You said the animal was placed in a crate in a barn? Why an Animal Control Officer would do something like that I don’t understand, as it would appear that they have a facility for holding stray animal from what I could find on their web site. http://www.bellcountytx.com/Sheriff/11animalcontrol.htm

Still either way, I’m sorry to hear of the dogs’ death.

How much is that collarum?  You say it comes with it's own bait?  Do you think it's more effective than other types of traps?
The coyote size runs around $ 80.00 I think. As for the bait, the ones I bought didn't come with any bait, but I do know you can buy bait/lures from the same company.

Might want to take a look at this type of trap. I have used it and cought several coyotes with it. The onky draw back is if it's in an area with lots of coons, they seen to trip it alot. http://www.collarum.com/
Here is a video of the trap in action

Mismanagement and underinvestment by the U.S. Air Force could possibly lead to the failure and blackout of the Global Positioning System (GPS), a federal watchdog agency says.

The risk of failure starts in 2010, according to the Government Accountability Office (GAO) report quoted by PC World.

The failure would impact not only military operations, but also the millions of people and businesses who rely on the satellite-based navigation systems built into cars, boats and cell phones.

"If the Air Force does not meet its schedule goals for development of GPS IIIA satellites, there will be an increased likelihood that in 2010, as old satellites begin to fail, the overall GPS constellation will fall below the number of satellites required to provide the level of GPS service that the U.S. government commits to," the GAO report states.

The report says the Air Force has struggled to build successful GPS satellites within cost and on schedule.

1984 Honda 200 ES, with reverse, 3 wheeler $ 750.00

The bike runs good, the only thing I know that is wrong with it is the brake lever that has the emergency brake thing on it broke a couple of years ago. I took the one off of the other side and put in its place, so it’s missing on brake handle and has no emergency brake. If you watch on EBay I have seen them on there from time to time for around $30.00.

It has an after market fuel tank on it, other than that I think everything else is original. This has been a good dependable bike the ONLY reason I am getting rid of it is because I got another 4 wheeler and now it just sits at the deer lease.

I will get some pictures of it on here as soon as I can. The bike is in La Porte Texas if you want to take a look at it.
