I've killed 34 in the past 3 weeks all between 5 & 6 1/2 feet. Much fatter than the ones in the pic above. So I've decided to start catching them if I can find a buyer. I would post pics, but don't know how to do it as I'm pretty computer illiterate.

Anyone know of any buyers in south texas?  I can catch all a person would want out here.

Half catahoula/half bmc be ready in a week. Daddy is an awesome all around dog, works cattle, finds and bunches strays & catches runners,  strikes hogs only when he is collared up. Also works sheep and goats like a collie. Momma is purely a hog dog with lotsa drive, good nose and enough grit to stop a runner but not catchy. $200 each 1 male/2 females. Got 1 well started 1/2 mountain cur 1/2 bmc 18 months old, will find her own on occasion, hunts hard, fairly rough. Smaller dog, but very fast.
1 blue lacy male 1yr old, been in a pen twice. Never hunting
1 red cur, about 14 months old, not started.
1 pit,  older dog, catches like a freight train, and only catches on ear. No aggression on ground, but won't ride in box with other dogs, needs to be on top. Starts whimpering when dogs are baying.

Lost my job about a month ago, & am going to be moving for my new job. Will take a reasonable offer for any or all. Only keeping my best 3 dogs for the move.

Sorry to hear bout the red dog that didn't make it. Was it yours or Pete's?  I killed a good one not far from where that one was killed 2 nights ago.

MAYBE I JUST DONT UNDERSTAND, WERE YOUR CATCHDOGS BAYING, OR DO YOU NOT RUN TRUE CATCHDOGS SO THAT YOU ARE ABLE TO SHOOT THE HOGS?   DEF, NOT DISSING YOU OR YOUR DOGS, JUST TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHY DOGS TURNED LOOSE FROM THE TRUCK WILL BARK AND NOT CATCH.

jp, if you want a challenge,  load up your best 2 dogs and come hunt with me some time this week! these hogs are fast!!

dont know anything about colby lines or any other line, but i have had excellent luck with ab/pit crosses & dogo/pit crosses as far as lung capacity and drive.  i dont personnaly care about the lineage to much, just look at if mom and dad catch and how the dog is built.  not really answering your question, but figured i'd put in my 2 cents. 

i agree with tbob, i like to get them all growed up so the wife and kids aren't all lovey dovey with them.  but with that said, i have two that i have raised from pups, and are just getting started in the woods.  every time i turn them loose or work them on a mock hunt, first thing my wife says is that she hopes they make it.

i agree with tinytexascowgirl!!  any thing to remember the people who got over looked, that gave their life to do a job, trying to provide for families, they got over looked by ducks, shrimp, fish, and forgotten within 3 days of the accident!!  RIP horizen hands!!

if you decide to try border collies, i will hook you up with an old man near uvalde that has the best around.  he sells pups to the people that do the national competitions and win.  they are the real deal, smart as a whip, and will do what ever you tell them.  ive seen them get sent from the house to get sheep, go over 3 miles, bring the sheep in and pen them, work cattle & get rough, and seen them catch a good boar when he tells them.  may be the best blood line of collies in the US.  and he isnt a dog trader, if he dont like them at 6 weeks, they dont get sold.  but, at the same time, he just took a bmc pup off of me.  said he has a soft spot for them!

my 2 best dogs hunted as a team when i first got them, and then went thru just what your talking about.  now, they hardly ever are seen together unless its a very hot track, but they 100% honor each other.  if you see them take the same track, park the truck and get ready to turn cd's loose cause he will be bayed shortly!  sounds to me like yours are perfect!

i have a mtn cur/bmc cross that will do exactly what your sayin.  after watching her for the last month, she only opens on track when my older dogs get to far out in front of her while working the track, i assume due to the fact that she doesnt work a track as fast.  she is only 14 mos old, but if she is still doing at 2 yrs of age i WILL get rid of her because she def makes it a little harder to catch hogs that arent withing 100 yds or so.  she is silent when she is doing things on her own, so hoping she learns to work fast enough to keep up or surpass the older dogs.  good luck

seems to me that the ears are the way to go, they appear to have more control there.  i wont keep one that catches the snout for very long. personally have never had a cd that caught the neck, but do have one that when run alone catches the ear but when run in tandem she catches a front leg.  she will snap the leg and get under the hog and force it to lay down.  but if your catching hogs with the dog, it really dont matter.  kinda like some may not like my strike dogs, but they produce a load of hogs. do what works for you!

dont sell many hogs on my side of the state, what is a head bonus?  good hog tho!

thats the size teeth that seem to do the most damage to my dogs!!  good hog!!
