1st Annual Hermleigh FFA Hog Hunt
February 21-23, 2014

2014 Official Rules and Regulations:
1.   The tournament will be held February 21st through February 23, 2014.
2.   The tournament pre-register entry deadline is February 21, before 5 p.m..
3.   Last minute registration will be from 4-6 pm CST at the old Hermleigh football field at 278 Cardinal Street in Hermleigh Texas.
4.   This is a dog-knife hunting division ONLY. NO SHOT HOGS!
5.   The tournament entry fee is $200. First place team will be presented with 4 trophy buckles. A plaque will be presented to 2nd and 3rd places.
6.   The tournament will have 4 side pots: Biggest Boar or Barr (In case of tie the hog with the longest single tusks will win), Biggest Sow (In case of tie the sow with the longest head, tip of nose to the top point of head), Biggest Teeth Boar or Barr (In case of tie the hog with the heaviest weight will win) Biggest Teeth Sow (In case of a tie heaviest hog will win). Side pot entry fee is $25 per pot 
7.   Teams for the tournament must consist of four individuals. ALL TEAMMATES MUST BE REGISTERED.
8.   Teams for the tournament are allowed 2 helpers. Helpers may only assist once the hogs are dead. They may help drag hogs and lead dogs. THEY CANNOT BRING DOGS OR ASSIST IN THE KILL.
9.   The only individuals allowed on the hunt are the four teammates and two helpers. For a total of six.
10.    The tournament will begin on February 21, 2014 at 6:00 pm CST.
11.    The tournament weigh in will be at 12:00 pm CST February 23, 2014. NO EXCEPTIONS.
12.    All teammates must hunt together. In case of a split bay, the team may split but must catch dogs and regroup before turning out again.
13.    Each team will weigh in their 5 heaviest hogs for the division as well as all hogs to be entered in the bonus division.
14.    ALL hogs are to be chosen by the team BEFORE they enter the weigh in area.
15.    Hogs cannot have been previously trapped, kept, or held for the contest. Hog caught outside contest hours may not be held for entry into the contest. Hogs caught with dogs during contest hours may be held, but must be weighed in field dressed and cannot be shot. 
16.    ALL teammates must be present at weigh in with a photo ID and valid hunting license.
17.    ALL Texas Wildlife regulation must be obeyed at all times. Hunting will be open. (Hunt in any state)
18.    ALL hogs must be dogged. No hog shall be trapped or held before the tournament.
19.    ALL hogs must be free range only. No high fence hunting allowed.
20.    ALL hogs must be dead and field dressed and packed with ice. Proof of sex must be left on hog.
21.    The tournament will use a supplement to polygraph for the top team. Should a team member refuse, the team will be disqualified.
22.    There will be a group of inspectors that will examine each hog as it is weighed in. If the inspectors find a hog to have an unhealed/fresh bullet hole, that hog will be disqualified. If 2 hogs are found with unhealed/fresh bullet hole, that team will be disqualified. This rule will be strongly enforced.
23.    Disqualified hogs cannot be replaced.
24.    It is each team’s responsibility to have the final and current copy of the rules.
25.    Weigh-ins will be at the OLD football field at 278 Cardinal Street in Hermleigh, Texas.

Since its our first one. Just two teams so far. Its so close ti the Hooligans and a few others that have been going  on for a while. We are hoping for a good turn ut I will post rules and registration  asap.

I was just wondering not doing any hunting, just seeing if there were any hog hunters around here. I'll be here til Sunday visiting family. Maybe talk to a few and share stories.

Thanks to everyone who has commented on my post its has been a blast taking my son and hopefully upcoming Hog hunter. He loves it!

NT-HOGGING, It was awesome he was very excited to be there and a little nervous, he had a great time.


Hoghunter59, there is no better feeling than watch him get so excited about it and finely get to experience it.

Rowdy, I hope she turns out she is the one that struck and started baying, I've never had a good strike dog and she looks to be turning into a good one.
