2  THE CLASSIFIEDS / THE DOG TRADE / Want to buy NALC female on: April 22, 2021, 03:43:56 pm
Looking for NALC female.

Woods dog or straight bay pen dog, don’t matter as long as she’s got working drive, hunt, bay, etc.
Prefer a leopard. Want her to be good size, good looking bitch. Wanting to breed to an old stud dog I located that ain’t gonna be around very long. Not looking for a puppy. I will want to see her bay, either in person or on a video. Better if she’s raised a litter, good mother.

If you’ve got the dog I’m looking for . . I got the $.

5  THE CLASSIFIEDS / THE DOG TRADE / NKC Am. Bulldog puppy (male) PICK OF LITTER on: November 09, 2016, 07:45:47 am
Male puppy 14 weeks old.  PICK OF LITTER.  I was going to keep this puppy but wife is nagging me to sell him.  By far the biggest and best pup of the litter.  This pup is very well made, excellent head, even bite, good structure, big boned.  Weighs over 30 lbs now.  His sire is Greenlee's Southern 130 lbs athletic AB with outstanding movement for a big dog.  The dam to the pup is my 90 lb female, real good looking athletic female with a hybrid head and body.  I would call this pup a "bully hybrid".  He has an even bite, breaths good, will have some leg on him, but he's still a stocky built pup.  I figure he will mature at 110 - 115 lbs.  He has got good prey drive already and will flirt pole his ass off and do hang time on a hide.  He's had all his shots and been wormed, eating taste of the wild feed, running loose on a farm, already socialized to cattle (wont bother them), and already socialized to children (6 yr old plays with him every day).  If you're looking for a very good looking, well made pup with some eye appeal and size . . . here he is.  I'm not selling him to be a catch dog prospect, but like I said he does have some drive and will get after anything that you tease him with and he will catch hold of it.  I tease him with a hide or a shop towel and he will catch hold and hang on.  He's super friendly and not shy.

I have the NKC papers in hand.

I CAN TEXT PICS OF THE PUP AND PARENTS.

$400 FIRM   Located close to Texarkana   Please DONT CALL or TEXT unless you are seriously interested.  You want find a better quality pup for this price.

6  THE CLASSIFIEDS / THE DOG TRADE / NKC American Bulldog pups on: October 01, 2016, 10:17:24 am
I have 2 female AB pups, NKC reg, papers in hand.  Dam is Dailey, Braveheart, Bull Metal Jacket, Whooly Booger, Medicine Hat, Gaucho.  She is 90 lbs, athletic, good drive, solid muscle, square hybrid style head, great temperament, good watch dog.  Sire to pups belongs to Greenlee American Bulldogs, name is "Southern".  He is a true 130 lbs and solid muscle, very athletic for a dog in this size category.  Most impressive looking big AB I've ever seen, not your typical sloppy Johnson bred dog.  This male has great structure and athleticism, even bite, powerful rear end.  Pups should be 100 lbs.  lots of bone, big wide heads, athletic structure, and great temperaments.

If you are looking for a great family pet, farm buddy, smart yard dog, guard dog . . . here they are.

The 2 females I have are not left overs.  There were only 4 pups is the litter, the males are spoken for.  These females are huge, with lots of bone.

$500 located near Texarkana.  I can text pics of pups and parents.

11  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Proven CD Inbreeding, wanting opinions on: June 22, 2016, 06:48:26 pm
Based on what Bob said, I would just be trying to double up on "George" . . . regardless of how he was bred.  Apparently, George is what everybody is looking for in a catchdog . . . especially the temperament traits and no re-grip.  I would just breed her back to George.
12  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Proven CD Inbreeding, wanting opinions on: June 22, 2016, 08:13:57 am
What are the advantages of keeping a tight Frisco ped?  If the sire is a good catch dog with all the traits you desire in a catchdog, then breed back to him.  Other than that, there is no reason or advantage to keep a tight Frisco ped.  Having a Frisco ped doesn't help the dog catch hogs.  It's the traits that breed true in bulldogs . . . not pedigrees.  Examples: catch and hold / gameness / no quit attitude / stable temperament w/ other dogs / wind, stamina.  These traits are not unique to Frisco bred dogs.  These are traits that are just common in any functional working bulldog.

It's not like your trying to preserve something unique or rare by having a tight Frisco dog.  Garner has sold thousands of tight Frisco pups that's way tighter than what you have.  You can probably go on his website and see 4 or 5 litters right now that's the tightest Frisco blood in the world.  I know at least 10 dudes that have direct grandsons of Frisco right now.  There are probably a thousand super tight up close Frisco dogs walking around right now.  But there again, no advantage to that when it comes to hog hunting.  Frisco dogs are known for biting hard and being powerhouse type bulldogs.  But there is nothing unique or special about having Frisco bred catch dogs.

Linebreeding / Inbreeding only offers advantages when you're trying to concentrate some set of specialized traits.  If you're just wanting to make some catch dogs, there is no more upside to having Frisco breeding than there is down side.  It might just be that the individual dogs you are thinking about just happen to be good catchdogs that have some Frisco blood by chance.  But Frisco in their pedigree doesn't necessarily make them good catch dogs, nor does it prevent them from being good catchdogs.

If George is a good catchdog and you like him, then I would go with him.  But I would never breed brother sister.  Inbreeding brings out the bad traits just as much as the good traits.  If old George is everything you want in a catchdog, and your bitch has a lot of George's traits, then I would breed her back to George and hope you get a litter of little Georges.  I don't know the ped on your dogs, but I would bet $$$ that Frisco is so far back in the ancestry that it has a very small impact on the overall genetic make-up of your pups.  At the end of the day, Frisco is just another bulldog with name recognition.  But if Frisco is in your dog's 4th or 5th generation, and only appears in the ped once or twice . . . you're really not breeding Frisco dogs.
13  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: sick pup need advice on: May 10, 2016, 07:36:30 am
PS.  I would highly doubt if the pup had coccidia or giardia.  It is very unlikely that "one puppy" in a pen would have coccidia and not have spread it to the other pups.
14  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: sick pup need advice on: May 10, 2016, 07:31:01 am
Puppies don't vomit if they have coccidia, they just have runny, mucous stools.  But while we are on the subject of coccidia, here is a little known preventative.  Go to your local feed store and purchase something called "CORRID".  It is for scouring calves.  It used to come in 1 gallon jugs, but now they sell it in a small bottle.  Put a capful in the pups' drinking water and change the water everyday.  Pups don't get coccidia until after they start to walk and eat food on their own.  What spreads coccidia is this . . . 1) the pups begin to explore the pen.  2) they poop on the ground of the pen, instead of in the dog house.  3) they step in feces.  4) they then step in the water bowl.  5) they then drink the water.  As long as the puppies are nursing milk only, they won't get cociddia.  Also the mother's instincts are to eat the pup's stool, so the pups remain clean inside the dog house.  It is only after the pups begin to walk and explore the pen, and start pooping outside the dog house, is when they can get coccidia.  Also around this same time, 5 weeks, is when the mother will stop eating the puppies' stool.

CORRID works as a coccidia preventative on puppies (NOT A CURE).  However, if you will water the puppies in a small water bowl, and change the water everyday, and ad a capful of CORRID to the water each time, then your pups won't get coccidia.
15  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Starting out on: March 09, 2016, 06:27:09 pm
AND ON ANOTHER NOTE . . . ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT A SURE-NUFF GOOD DOG IS ALOT EASIER TO SELL IF YOU GET IN A BIND, OR DECIDE YOU WANT TO DO SOMETHING ELSE.  DON'T BE AFRAID TO PAY FOR GOOD DOG.  IF ITS A LEGIT GOOD DOG, YOU CAN GET RID OF HIM NO PROBLEM.  EVERYBODY WANTS A "REAL DEAL" STRIKE DOG.  NOT ALOT OF FOLKS LOOKING FOR A BELOW AVERAGE DOG.

EXAMPLE:  WHEN IS THE LAST TIME YOU SAW SOMEBODY POST THE FOLLOWING:  "I'M LOOKING FOR A VERY AVERAGE STARTED DOG THAT MIGHT FIND A HOG IF I PUT HIM RIGHT ON ONE.  I WANT THE DOG TO HANG AROUND THE ATV, TRASH ON EVERYTHING, NOT STAY BAYED, OPEN ON TRACK AND HAVE ABSOLUTLEY NO HANDLE.  I WILL PAY $200 WITH NO TRIAL".

IF YOU BUY A $200 DOG, THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO GET.  GOOD LUCK.

16  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Starting out on: March 09, 2016, 06:03:05 pm
ABSOLUTE WORST THING YOU CAN DO IS START BUYING UP CHEAP DOGS.  CHEAP HOG DOGS ARE USUALLY CHEAP FOR A REASON.  AND ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT NOBODY CULLS FROM THE TOP OF THEIR PACK.  WHEN THEY DECIDE TO SELL ONE, IT IS USUALLY GONNA BE THE ONE THAT THEY CAN LIVE WITHOUT.  IT DOESN'T HAVE ENOUGH HUNT, IT OPENS ON TRACK, CAN'T STOP RUNNERS, IT'S TOO ROUGH, ETC. ETC.  I ALWAYS LOOKED AT WHAT THE MAN WAS KEEPING VS. WHAT HE WAS GETTING RID OF.  THERE ARE TIMES WHEN YOU CAN CATCH SOMEONE WHO IS "GETTING OUT TOTALLY".  THIS GIVES YOU A BETTER OPPORTUNITY TO GET THE CREAM OF THE CROP.  I LIKE IT WHEN THE MAN SAYS "EVERYTHING MUST GO, DOGS, GARMIN COLLARS, BARRELLS, VESTS, ETC."  THIS MEANS HE'S NOT KEEPING THE GOOD ONES FOR HIMSEF AND SELLING THE CULLS.  WHEN I STARTED GATHERING HOG DOGS, I TRIED TO GET OUT CHEAP AND BUY A BUNCH OF $300 - $400 DOGS.  AND WHAT I GOT WAS A BUNCH OF CULLS.  I PROBABLY HAD $2,000 IN 5 DOGS THAT COULDN'T FIND A HOG.  I HAD 5 "HELP DOGS" ACTUALLY.  I FINALLY FIGURED OUT I WAS $$$ AHEAD TO JUST BREAK DOWN AND BUY ONE REAL GOOD TOP NOTCH DOG THAT WILL LEAVE OUT AND GO HUNTING AND FIND A HOG.  THEN YOU CAN GATHER A COUPLE OF HELP DOGS THAT WILL PACK UP AND STAY BAYED.  THEY DON'T NEED TO HAVE A WHOLE LOT OF HUNT TO THEM, AS LONG AS THEY WILL STAY STEP-FOR-STEP WITH YOUR GOOD DOG AND STAY BAYED.

I THINK THE BEST THING TO DO IS DETERMINE WHAT STYLE OF HUNTING THAT FITS YOU.  SOME GUYS LIKE DOGS THAT WILL RANGE A MILE IN NO SIGN, AND OTHERS WANT MEDIUM DOGS THAT GO OUT 400 - 500 YARDS AND MAKE A LOOP AND COME BACK TO THE ATV IN 30 MINUTES.  AND THERE ARE SOME THAT LIKE DOGS THAT GO OUT 200 YARDS AND THEY CAN WALK BEHIND THEM.  ALL STYLES WILL CATCH HOGS, ITS JUST HOW DO YOU WANT TO HUNT?  YOU CAN EXPECT TO SPEND $1,500 - $2,500 FOR A STRIKE DOG THAT WILL LEAVE OUT AND FIND HIS OWN HOG, NOT RUN TRASH, BE BROKE OFF CATTLE, STOP A HOG AND STAY BAYED.  ALL DOGS HAVE FLAWS TO SOME DEGREE, YOU JUST HAVE TO FIGURE OUT WHICH FLAWS YOU'RE WILLING TO PUT UP WITH, AND WHICH ONES YOU WON'T TOLERATE.

I TALKED TO A FRIEND THE OTHER DAY WHO HAD A DOG FOR SALE.  THE DOG WAS 4 YEARS OLD, SUPER FAST, PLENTY OF STOPPING POWER AND WOULD STAY BAYED.  THE FLAW HE PLACED ON THIS PARTICULAR DOG WAS THAT HE LACKED HUNT.  WHEN CASTED ON HIS OWN, HE WOULD RANGE ABOUT 250 YARDS AND MAKE A LOOP, AND COME BACK TO THE ATV IN ABOUT 15 MINUTES.  IF HE GOT IN SIGN, HE WOULD ROLL AND HUNT, BUT HE WASN'T A LONG RANGE DOG.  THIS FELLA ONLY LIKES "GO YONDER" LONG RANGE DOGS SO HE DIDN'T FIT THIS PARTICULAR PERSON.  A DOG LIKE THIS WOULD MAKE A GOOD HELP DOG IF HE STAYED PACKED UP WITH A RANGIER TYPE DOG.  HE WANTED $500 AND ANOTHER BUDDY OF MINE BOUGHT HIM, BECAUSE HE FIT HIS SHORTER STYLE OF HUNTING PERFECTLY.

FIGURE OUT HOW YOU WANT TO HUNT, THEN GO FROM THERE.  I ENDED UP WITH DOGS THAT WOULD ROLL A MILE AND A HALF OR MORE IN "NO SIGN".  ITS IMPRESSIVE AND ADMIRABLE TO HAVE DOGS WITH THIS KIND OF HUNT, BUT I FINALLY DECIDED THAT THEY DIDN'T SUIT ME.  I GOT TIRED OF GETTING OFF LEASES, SPENDING THE WHOLE FRICKIN DAY GETTING PERMISSION TO CROSS PROPERTY LINES, HAVING PEOPLE COME OPEN GATES FOR YOU, ETC, ETC.  AT THE END OF THE DAY, I LIKE HOG HUNTING, BUT WHEN I'M READY TO GO HOME, I WANT TO GO HOME RIGHT THEN.  NOT 2 HOURS LATER AFTER I'VE GATHERED ALL MY DOGS IN THE NEXT COUNTY.

17  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Getting bulldog on ear on: February 26, 2016, 07:30:32 am
Bulldogs LOVE praise.  Have someone hold the hogs back legs.  Put him on the ear and praise the heck out of him.  Pet him all over and "baby-talk" him, etc.  When he goes anywhere else on the hog, immediately break him off and tell him "NO".  Put him back on the ear and praise him.
18  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Putting weight on skinny dogs on: January 27, 2016, 07:23:41 am
Forgot to add that boiled noodles added in a meal every other day will help with the carbs, and help them maintain energy, in return have excess energy which in return will lead to excess weight.

Dogs don't have the same digestive system  we do.     Noodles and pastas will not have the same nutritional value to them because their digestive track is not designed for breaking down and use this type of complex carbohydrates.  They make use of simple carbohydrates though.     What we know about our own digestive systems does not closely mimic that of dogs and thus lots of things like this are done with really good intentions but have little nutritional value to a dog.

C-O-R-R-E-C-T.  k9's do not have access to carbohydrates in the wild.  Therefore, they were designed and have evolved to thrive on a diet of protein, fat and bone.  What K9's use for energy is animal fat.  Their systems are designed to run on fat for energy, this is where they get their fuel.  K9's produce energy from protein, fat and bone through a process called gluconeogenesis.  When you feed a K9 carbs, it alters the way their body is designed to produce energy.  However, K9's will use and burn the carbs, it's jut not a natural process.  It is correct that carbs have little nutritional value to dogs.  However, if you did give the dog some noodles, it won't hurt them in any way.  It's just not as much bang for the buck as using fat.

Thanks where can I get Droncit at?

YOU CAN GET DRONCIT PILLS AT THE VET.  JUST TELL THE VET YOUR DOG HAS TAPEWORMS.  TELL HIM YOU SAW THE TAPEWORMS SEGMENTS IN HIS STOOL AND THEY LOOKED LIKE GRAINS OF RICE THAT WERE "WIGGLING".  HE WILL FIGURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT AND PROBABLY GIVE YOU THE PILLS WITHOUT MAKING YOU BRING THE DOG IN.  1 PILL PER 15 LBS BODY WEIGHT.
20  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Putting weight on skinny dogs on: January 23, 2016, 07:55:02 am
And do I cook the hamburger meat or feed it raw too?

ALWAYS FEED MEAT RAW.  WHEN YOU COOK MEAT, IT COOKS ALL THE GOOD STUFF OUT.  K9'S ARE DESIGNED TO EAT RAW MEAT.  DOMESTIC DOGS ARE NO DIFFERENT THAN A WOLF,COYOTE OR FOX.  THEY THRIVE ON RAW MEAT AND BONE.  K9S DIGESTIVE ENZYMES AND STOMACH ACIDS ARE MANY TIMES STRONGER THAN HUMANS.  THIS IS WHY YOUR DOG CAN EAT A DEAD ANIMAL, OR DRINK OUT OF A MUD PUDDLE AND NOT GET SICK.  IF WE DID THAT, WE WOULD GET E-COLI OR DISENTARY.
