HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: dew claw??

Got 5 dogs that have lived through rattlesnake, cotton-mouth and copper head bites on a regular basis and they were all born with no dew claws. And believe me, I let em swell and if they make it they make it. I use no drugs for snake bite... natural selection only. Hadn't lost a dog in 12 bites and going strong. ALL dogs are born with FRONT dew claws. The rear dew claws are a genetic trait of certain breeds of dogs. The old timers I grew up around always said that a snake bite wouldn't hurt dogs that had rear dew claws . .

Yes sir, I was talking about Bill...
Nice stick. I see where my eyes were deceiving me now... the flag in the back ground was bleeding through the stick, looked like you'd woven the colors in it.

If you need it, 1st day injectable and follow up doses with the chewable pills. All vets have different opinions so ALWAY consult your vet Marvin... I'm just another dog guy and by no means an expert, I just know what has always worked for me. For u guys that use baytril is the pills or injectable I have both but vet said to only use if it was bad and forgot to ask which to use

I use Baytril on all major wounds. Go to your vet, get a script, go on-line and place an order.
Last time I went I got a script for 200 pills @ 136mg and a bottle of 20ml injectable. COst me right at $700 but I never have to go to the vet so you do the math.
Best thing about Baytril is you only have to give it once a day instead of BID or 2x a day. I've healed wounds that were infected to the bone (you could see the bone) on straight Baytril and never had a problem, all the flesh returned. These were dogs that were brought to me after their owners were too scared to bring the dogs to a vet because the infections had gotten so bad.
Always consult your vet.

Just curious, why would you stack antibiotics? It's one or the other. It's bad advise to be mixing drugs like that... you either start at the top with Baytril or start with Clavomax and work your way up to Baytril if Clavomax doesn't work. Also, Baytril will cause joint problems in dogs under 2 months old. Here's what a simple search on the internet brought up; ______________________________________________________________________ At home, clean the wound with hydrogen peroxide, chlorhexidine or povidone iodine. Do not use a tourniquet; because the venom stays in the area of bite, a tourniquet is not necessary. The tourniquet may cause circulation damage. If you see your pet acting lethargic, begin vomiting or the wound becomes larger, it is strongly recommended that you bring your pet to the veterinarian. Treatment may be necessary to reduce these symptoms. Your veterinarian will treat the bite wound and may give your pet antibiotics to prevent infection. Surgery may be necessary to remove the skin around the affected area, if other treatments do not heal the wound. Generally, pets recover fully from these spider bites after several weeks. _____________________________________________________________________ Either drug by itself that ushog recomended will work. Personally, I prefer Baytril, you only give it once a day unless by personal preference you like to go BID. All other Antibotics are BIDaily or every 12 hours. Hope you need a stronger antibiotic. Clavamox and Baytril together is probably what you need for the dog

I'd have ate dolphin sushi 4 sure! PBJ got nothing on fresh fish. I can tell you how long ago you caught shrimp just by eatin them raw. Last dead dolphin I saw was 39 years ago in the Sea of Cortez.... and it didn't smell fresh... I have seen a few crazy things in my travels but this one seems to stand out the most. A good friend and I were Black Bear hunting on Prince Of Whales Island in SE Alaska. We had been hunting out of a boat and beaching it in bays and hunting the slat grass flats for about a week. One day we had hunted this flat all morning and were going to walk out and hunt the afternoon and evening in the next bay over. We decided to have lunch on the beach and were sitting and eating PB&J sandwiches when a whole pod of Dolphins 30 or so came through the very small entrance to this bay. They came all the way up to us in very shallow water and started to act very strainge, almost beaching them selves at times. About 2 mins later a whole pod of Killer Whales 15 or so came through the entrance of the bay and started attacking the dolphins. The larger whales would ram the dolphins so hard they would fly out of the water 20-30 feet in the air. They would then float on the surface where the younger whales would ram the dolphins over and over hitting them hard each time. This went on for about an hour. My buddy and I were just watching in silence and in almost a trance.after all teh dolphins were dead and the whales had finished they just swam off. We looked ate eachother and were just in shock. It was the most brutal display of force I have evr seen. Nature is cruel at times but amazeing in the same breath. Later I aske a biologist from the ADFG what was happen ing and they said that they think the whales were teaching the young tou hunt. Funny thing was they never even tried to eat a single dolphin that I saw. Just killed them and swam off. Very cool thing to see probably one of a handful of people to ever see something like that.

THE CLASSIFIEDS / THE DOG TRADE / DOG IS ON TRIAL Too Cold Nosed - Semi Finished Mountian Cur for Sale
|
on: February 24, 2010, 05:13:25 pm
|
DOG IS ON TRIAL I’ve got a Mountain Cur that is just too cold nosed for me. I hunt Cat Curs and thought this dog would be a good add, until I bring her out and when my pack pulls off a hog they lose track of due to the fact we hunt on dry ground, this dog just keeps going and going and I have to hunt her down while my pack has re-grouped and hunting fresh sign. Just like Plott hounds I've hunted behind... it's just not my style of hunting. She winds off a boat and is good in the marsh (she will rip through cain) but I only hunt the marsh about 1 to 3x a year. I will give a 30 day trial on the dog, I paid $800 for her and will take $1200 OBO for the years of feed. Her ped is attached, I will take a pics if you really want one, but she is brindle with bob tail and weighs 45 to 60 lbs depending on the time of year. Dog has been on pleanty of hogs, she just tries too hard for me. 225-296-3941 This dog is located in Baton Rouge, LA and I will take trades for firearms.
