Not every horse makes a cutting horse, some of the best calf roping horses and team roping horse are crop out cutters. As far as the rider not looking like he/she is doing anything in the pen, most of the work comes in the practice pen just like anything else. By the time you get to the arena it should look like it is all horse and the rider is just along for a smooth ride.

I have had this happen before, and in fact the dog was just showing off. I was extremely jealous but I did move a female dog in heat next to his kennel just to make me feel better. That will show him. J/K haha

HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Hay prices this year?

I agree if you know somebody that is paying 175/ bale then let me know. What I was saying is that I had that much in it. Mainly in fertilizer. Then by the time I pay for fuel, labor, wrap, and alittle for wear and tear, it doesnt take long to add up. And as far as not cutting it, I could have turned in on it, but I know where the cows would have camped out also. So I decided to bite the bullet and cut it and at least get some hay before the grasshoppers and heat destroyed it. It doesnt matter if you paid cash or have a note on your equipment or if you are custom farming or ranching, what ever you are doing it is a business. I personally am not in it for my health, and even though I enjoy it, I am in it to make money. Therefore I decided to have something at least for my money invested. Let me know what equipment dealer yall use because mine doesnt care if it is a drought or not. It cost them the same to make the equipment and the get it hauled in no matter if I am getting rain or not. JMO and experience

i dont know were yall come from but there is still a few honest hay farmers around like myself.I sold my hay for 40 a bale. when my neighbor is gettin 85 a bale. But i remember when i didnt have nothin commin out of high school feedin a few horses and calves we had a dry year and they were gettin a 100 a bale. Right then i vowed if i ever got in the hay business that i would take care of people like myself. We got a sayin about this sort of thing i call it a 'do gooder' Do gooders never win but i can sleep at night. i dont know if im stupid or not but people always com back to buy more hay.
I am a Do Gooder also, a do gooder for my family and my stock. Including fertilizer and baling I have $175/ bale in my hay this year. Yeah that is not a misprint, made a whopping .6 bales to the acre. So does that mean that I need to sell my hay for 40/ bale. The market is up because the cost is up and the supply is down. Due to no rain. I have raised hay, jockeyed hay, custom farmed. My margin was always the same. Just because the hay is 100/ roll doesnt mean the people selling it are making a killing. They are probably actually losing money. Not trying to be a D**K, just saying if the farmers were to "help" everybody out, then they wouldnt be in business long.

Looks like those guys in Florida and Hawaii could use a good blade or a .44 mag and just split their wig. They could of caught alot more instead of walking out with just 2-3. But I forgot that a gunshot will spook the hogs out of the country. Isnt that the point. Where are the cur dogs at? I wish I had places like that to hunt, where I could just drive around till I spotted some hogs and then dumped some bulldogs on them. Hell if I can see the hog, I dont need the dog, I would just shoot the nasty SOB.

3/4 pit-1/4 greyhound. 1/2 and 1/2 just looks like a greyhound but 75/25 seems to be the best mix. Get the best of both worlds, bottom and catch. It is either that or go old school on em and tailgate about 10 rough cur dogs. You better get there quick if you wanna tie it though. Hahah A good set of rough cur dogs will shut down just about anything.

Just got back home and noticed the same thing as all of you. I thought that maybe it was something else wrong with my dogs but we will see. Almost all of them have loose stools. I was very happy with the last batch so we will see what happens with this one.

I have had a dog with it also, and to my understanding, you will never cure the dog just maybe and its a big maybe get lucky enough to control it. Nothing ever worked for me. The dog would clear up and start growing hair back but as soon as you went hunting and the dog got hot or got cut, anything that would cause the dog to have some stress, then the mange would come back. Just my experience, but good luck. And also it doesnt ever happen to the bad ones. haha

Is it a pistol or rifle? dont know alot about them but was considering one for doctoring rank cows. Put them down before they get in the brush.
