THE CLASSIFIEDS / THE DOG TRADE / dogs are gone

Dogs are less than a year old. Bought them as BMCs, they might not be! Starting to fight. Each time get bloodier. One looks to be a buckskin Lacy or cross. One is thick short and fat. I belive the Lacy looking one will make a dog. The heavy one will not be much of a runner! Ha Ha I will swap both for a young good looking BMC, can be worthless but not a fence jumper or people shy or mean. IF no swap I will give free, you choice. I would travel a town or two away for a swap but you will have to come pick up for free. Text I can send pictures

NEWS AND UPDATES / TEXAS LAWS and BILLS / Re: Gun laws in the works

The Militia in the Second does not apply to the standing Army which includes the National Guard or Reserve! In Texas it applies to the Texas State Guard a true Militia. Any one who is between the ages of 18 and 65 who is not prohibited can be a member of the Texas State Guard. That means the Right to Keep and Bear belongs to the People not the Government! The Right to Keep and Bear is to protect us the People from the Government using the power of the standing Army.

Looked at some profiles, "location" is not filled out. Whats the deal? People put dogs or pups for sale with no location or contact number. At least put your state and county! If I do not know the area code in a phone number my interest stops there. A location sure would seperate the legit from the dog jockies. Just a thought.

HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Parvo like symptoms

There is a time after a pup is weened that it still carries immunity from the mother for parvo. If the vaccine is given at that time it is of no effect. When mom's immunity wears off the pup can get parvo making it appear that the vaccine caused it. My Vet believes in vaccinating a lot and early, hoping the coverage over laps.
I had a pup with parvo symptoms. A local dog man suggested two (2) ounces of standard chlorine bleach in thirty (30) ounces of liquid given orally. I used chicken broth, pup hated it. I do not know if the pup really had parvo or even if the stuff really worked but he lived.

I had one that would bust a skunk when nothing else was moving. Get a one gallon pumpup spray jug. Add a half gallon of water, one box of baking soda, one bottle of 3% hydogen perxocide and a squirt of dish detergent mix well and keep on hand. Just a soon as you can after the dog busts a skunk soak the dog down with the mixture. One, it will make the dog smell better. Two, mine hated it worst than any beating. It did not take him long to learn to stop skunking!

There was a good article in the " Blue Press" this month! Good men are the exception not the rule. If the Russian's rule applies here out of 5000 board members only Two (2) that is Two will stand up for freedom. PVC and grease? What you think you will wake up and be back in Kansas is year or two? " I do not own any guns", they will drag you and your family into the street while they tear you home apart looking. You might hide one for a while but what will one do against an army? You will not be able to shoot, they will find you. It happened in Germany under the Nazi's. They were only Jews, so everybody joined in or looked way! Jews, gun owners, very little difference!

HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: smoke house

I use a hand full of briquettes on the expanded metal. When they are white with ash I cover them with smoke wood. Live Oak of coarse. I have access to tons of it. I like to get old stuff, not rotten, that the bark and sap wood is gone from. I use a chain saw to cut slices but catch the saw chips. Add litte water and mix, you want it moist not wet. You can use a old cast iron skillet or heavy pie plate on a hot plate also if you do not have room for the stove pipe and stuff. About four hours of smoke after drying over night and you will have a smoke ring that will make a Brisket cooker jealous!

Without putting it up, I hope these help. I made the thing 38” W X 47” L X 48” H. I was given the plywood and this is how it came out! I ripped several studs length ways for the 2X2s. This is the end with the AC. I wanted a dehumidifier but settled for an AC because I had one. You can see how the 2x2s are screwed on. I put up three sides and screw two 2X2s short ways and set the bottom on them, notice the notches in the corners. The sides are just plain plywood. I just cut a round hole for the stove pipe and cover it with a piece of plywood with two drywall screws when not in use. You can see the 2X2s on this side also. The top is just a little larger than the box, I used four short 2X2s to keep it aligned when not screwed down. The next ones are how I do the smoke part. The pipe is left over 20”. I dig a small trench under the edge of the pipe and a hole in the middle of the pipe. I cover the hole with old expanded metal this lets air under the briquettes and the smoke to go up and out. The plate on top is just some left over but works perfect. I did this in Word so, Hopefully is will copy over.

Mostly just to keep the air moving. It does help cool a little on those hot humid mornings when I try to dry. More pictures on the way.

I have always used natural casings. Most meat shops have them, cleaned and packed in salt and brine. I use pork, but you can get beef ( heavy duty) and sheep. They use sheep for wieners and meat sticks. The old time picnic sausage places use beef because they stand up better to long time boiling better.( Gruenua, Lindinau, Garfield, and such) All you have to do is wash them. I like to turn them and check for holes, just some thing the folks that taught me did.
My City does not allow Smoke houses in the City limits. That is why I built a box. Put it up, take it down, stores flat against the shop wall.

I guess I lost the better pictures. Here is a top down view. You can see the main construction. Length ways, one end has the AC unit, it can be seen in the picture. The other end I just cut around hole and stuck a length of stove pipe with an elbow on the other end in it.

A shock collar is a good training tool because you correct the dog with out assocating the correction to you. With a dog thats wants to fight that is not a good thing. The fighter may take the shock as a bite and the fight goes full blown! A cattle hot shot works much better! Sometimes call the "magic stick" it will work wonders on a fighter. Hit him on the neck or shoulder and it is like a bite from you. This lets him know you are the alpha dog and it hurts like hell!
Is the Lab nuetered?

I just built a box that is just shy of 4'x4'X4'. Used a 4'X4' piece of ply wood for the lid and made the box fit under it. Used 2"X2" for the corners, strips, and slats to support the bottom. The bottom slats are up 6". I just cut a hole that a one 110 AC would fit in. and screwed it to the plywood. On the other end I cut a round hole that a stove pipe would slid in. Two sections of pipe and an elbow directed the smoke in. I dried sausage in it a couple of years. Put it together with drywall screws. When I was done took it apart, it stacks flat to store for next year. It would hold 100# of sausage single hung.

I have had two BMCs that had it. One came from Missouria. The second, just recent, came from around Luling I was told. Both would not load (jump), layed down during the hunt, carried they rear ends funny and were around 9/10 months old. An old Vet with out an X-ray machine said he could feel it. I spent a hundred bucks to confirm the first one because I did not believe him. Did not waste the money to confirm the second. I know of at least one other "line" of BMCs that had it.
