4  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: The Kentucky Derby on: May 14, 2015, 12:44:20 pm
If we get a triple crown winner in the future I feel it will be a home grown no name type horse that wins. Not one of the big money big racing name stables.
5  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: The Kentucky Derby on: May 13, 2015, 01:30:20 pm
American Pharoah is the favorite...I am a fair weather fan...I usually learn about the horses in the previews...  Grin

my hope is whoever wins the Derby will win the Preakness that way it becomes a hot topic with the media...and it is something to look forward to...

my hope is to someday see another Secretariat...

We will never see another Secretariat or a horse close to being like him again. I highly doubt I will see a triple crown winner in my lifetime.

7  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Abuse on: April 25, 2015, 12:20:34 pm
I can't stand a man who does this. Women are getting just as bad now if not worse at times. I've told my nephews and own son if I ever so much as hear of them hitting or abusing a woman they better leave the county as when I find them it will not be pretty.
8  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Cutvest or no vest on: April 15, 2015, 08:04:06 pm
When I ran pits and AB's never owned a cut vest or collar. They ran as they were, and only lost 1 to a hog. A so called buddies "catch dogs" did a u turn in the field and he went in on his own. Vest or not he would have been killed as the hog slammed him into a concrete water trough an broke his ribs. Never cut him. I never ran less then two sure nuff catchdogs at that time and seen many a pit or AB die from a vest and heat stroke.

Now I run DOGOs and they all have either a vest or will soon have a plate. No issues with them so far.
9  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: where do catch dog breeds hold? on: April 12, 2015, 07:48:57 am
My dogos grab ear or top knot every time. An do not let go. If they do they are culled. Not culling them is the reason for number 2ty dogs in any breed.
10  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Retreiver dog food on: April 06, 2015, 10:33:14 am
When Diamond went as high as it did we started feeding retriever... dogs look good and stay that way for the most part. I know folks who just feed it and a supplement and feed 10-15 dogs or so and no issues.
11  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Running catch dogs??? on: April 02, 2015, 01:28:58 pm
well mine were rcd's till they would get whooped of by a big boar  lol    then they had sense enough to back up a bay a little .  but they were gonna at least try any hog once . when I would hear a dog baying I knew I had a good sized dang mean hog on the other end  .

My old dogs were same way and if you heard them baying better send in Calvary LOL
12  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: not the usual pack on: January 15, 2015, 11:45:21 am
John Favor used to run a rottie cross for a strike dog. I've used a heeler pit cross and labs and lab crosses in past. All were damn good dogs and out hunted some of these "hog dogs" I've seen lately lol.
13  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Hunting @ night on: January 15, 2015, 11:42:58 am
I prefer daytime 110%. When I hunt at night it is due to heat. I don't run during deer season because lots of the places I hunt I hunt free. I lay off during season just so nobody has any issues.

Shotgun
Arkansas

I agree with Shotgun. Most of my places are night hunt places only though. An I've done had dogs shot in past due to idiots with guns and don't want it to happen again.

I payed 1500. For my male. He is out of one of only 4 grand world champions. After 3 breedings from dam he is the only one that hunts.  Im happy with him. Hes everything ive trained/allowed him to be.. he has more potental than I have to offer him. Ive been around a few DOGOs and I feel he is a least alittle better than most. I just wish more poeple can see him in the woods with a open. A huge plus he is great with my kids. That alone is priceless....

Fixit you need to come down and hunt sometime.
You all healed up? Im ready.

Getting there. Been hunting some, but still not 100%

do any of you dogo folks know arron bornstein?  he goes by dogodad online . he had the only sch 3 dogo at the time some years back. that dog was also hunted by himself at times too and he was hell when catching also.

Aaron is a good friend of mine. I hunted with both of his dogos at one time and he got both of his from a mutual friend in Argentina. I'm trying to get him to come hunt with us again to get his mind off things due to just losing his wife.

We hunt dogo's and they are stronger and faster and bigger than Bulldogs. we also have pits. They still catch hogs. The best way to get your money back is sell them at a reasonable price and breed great hog dogs. I love my dogo. Not gonna try to talk you into one if you don't see the appeal but the breed is fascinating and that's originally what got me enamored with the breed. Then I hunted with one that hit and held like a Mack truck. So we decided to try one and loved it.
