"Jackson" went home!!
Funny story for y'all.
When Aimee picked him up, she told me his name was Bayer. I asked how she knew and she replied "it's on his tag." I was like oh ok. So when I met her in town I went to looking at the dog and saw the "tag". I'm sure all you know it was a cattle ear tag for the bugs. I about laughed myself out of the bed of the truck. She couldn't figure out why I was laughing so hard till I could stop laughing long enough to explain, then she wanted to argue with me for 10 mins till I finally took her to the feed store to prove it.

My sister found a BMC on 937 and Cole branch Road between Maquez and Franklin this morning. He was wearing a couple of collars but no ID plates. He has some significant scars.
If he's yours contact her at 469-309-2155 and identify the scars and collars. He was rather shaken up and lost.

Hey. Sorry. Been dealing with all the stuff here. I took the mare to the vet yesterday on my way to take her to the new pasture. Had a blood panel and fecal done on her. She was slightly wormy, bout a 3 on the 1-10 scale. We are running a power pack on her this week. She tested low red bood cell count, but everything else was fine. Couldn't find a cause on the red cell being so low. We also had her teeth checked, and they are in the best 18 yr old condition my vet had ever seen. He said if we didn't know with 100% accuracy that she is 18 he'd have guessed her at 15-17.
CutNShoot and Circle C, Yes, she is actually eating ALL that feed, and asking for more. She's on a 14/8 broodmare/Senior type feed. I upped her feed back in April when the baby was due, and never backed off it, he FINALLY made his appearance 3 weeks late on May 7. I've tried the oil on her previously with no results, it's not that she won't eat it, it just didn't have any effect on her, even when her feed was dang near floating in it. I'm trying Red Cell on her now and will see how it turns out, she got her first ounce of it today. After 24 hrs on the (previously fertilized, as in April) coastal hay patch she is now turned out on she is acting way more perky than she has been so that's a good sign. She is always a very worrisome momma, starts nickerin and searching if her babies get more than about 20 yards from her. Before being on the dang good grass, she had gotten to where she was so tired and weak that she wouldn't even look up when her colt wandered off, now she's back to huntin for him if he gets to far for her liking which is a good sign to me.
My aunt isn't doing so hot, she is still having touches of amnesia when she wakes up from a nap and can't remember why she's in the hospital. They ran another cat scan today, but I didn't hear about the results. They are also putting off her orthopedic surgery on her SHATTERED shoulder and left arm, but won't say why. Ugh. Please keep her in your prayers.

Are you meaning in the mare's feed? The colt, oddly enough, isn't even beginning to sniff Momma's feed. Every other baby I've had was at least showing interest, but both this mare's colts had to be completely weaned before even remotely wanting to try feed.

HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Prayer Request and Praise Report

My Aunt was involved in a motorcycle accident Sunday evening. She flipped several times and landed on her head hard enough to split the helmet into several pieces. She has some major cuts and bruises, a shattered shoulder and arm, but miraculously no brain or spine damage. Praise god. Please pray for her a speedy recovery.
While all of this is going on, my mare had her colt a few weeks ago. She has really started to draw down on me the last 2 weeks to the point where no matter what I feed her she is a walking skeleton. It had gotten to the point where I was ready to put her to sleep and bottle raise my colt. My Uncle Mark, who is my injured Aunt's husband overheard a conversation I was having to make arrangements to have the mare put to sleep. He promptly told me that wasn't an option and told me to bring my mare to his place which has belly deep coastal hay growing and turn her out there, which is close enough to me that I can go and supplement the colt with bottled a few times a day to try and help the mare out a little. With all that is going on in his world, he still reached out to help me. Praise god for good people and amazing family. Please offer a prayer of gratitude for people like him and ask for strength and guidance for him.
P.S. if any of you horse people have hints on my mare, please feel free to offer advice. She has been wormed, checked by a vet on teeth and palpated to make sure nothing got left in, she has been getting 8, yes, 8lbs of Omalene broodmare feed twice a day, 4 scoops of weight builder powder, and free choice hay and grass. I'm at a loss on what else to do for her and she is literally scaring me that I'll walk out there and she's gonna be dead.

Something that is light and easy, get a ziplock baggy, put as much baking powder in it as you can and it still fit in your pocket. It's a cheap blood stopper. I wouldn't go to a bay without it.

HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / You can't have it both ways.....
|

I haven't posted in a while, and to be honest I haven't even really been checking but something is eating at me, and I honestly think The Lord has been telling me to say something so here goes...
No matter what, I think everyone should always strive to do the morally right thing in every circumstance. I'm guilty of not always holdin true to that, so I'm not condemning anyone. But society tells us "live and let live", the turns around and says "If you see someone doin something wrong you should speak up." AND THEN turns around and refuses protection to those who do speak up.
You can't have it all people.
Here's what's weighing on me. If you see or hear of someone doing something that has the potential to get someone injured or killed, step up and blow the proverbial whistle. In addition to that, if you are in the crowd and "whistle blower" starts getting persecuted, step up and stop it, or you're no better than the person who had the whistle blown on them. Don't allow people trying to do the right thing to be treated like a lepor. It's wrong. Period. I'm tired of watching the world go to crud because everyone is too scared of retribution to stand up and do what's right. Look around your workplace, I'm positive you'll see what I mean.
Ok I'm off my soap box now.

Wow. Where the heck did Golden Soul come from? Calvin just didn't make his move fast enough for Rev, if he'd moved just a little sooner I think he would have had Orb. Great race over all. FAST for being a sloppy track
