well, no huge buck on opening day, but had great hunt that night! while sitting in my stand I noticed all the areas that had been rooted up in front of it, as well as the area around my feeder. Sun down, moon up time to change species. Went back to camp, ate a little bit, changed gear and weapons. put the .243 up and broke out the SKS Paratrooper, recently scoped and sighted in with some PCI ammo loaded with Hornady V-max 123gr. headed out back to the stand which is on the south end of a 20 acre meadow. as I skirted the tree line, i could here some rustling and grunting in the trees, so i stopped, moved closer to the trees and just as i got ready a large body made an apearance about 30 yards in front of me. moon was bright enough that i put the x-hairs just behind the ear and squeezed. the V-max did a number, he went down and never moved. large amount of blood pouring from his mouth and nose.

walked  up on this one rooting around near the tree line, soft breeze in my face let me get with handgun distance. one shot back of the head with a Win. 147 gr SXT. DRT!

it worked ok as lond as the temp was above 65 degrees. 3rd time i used it the hogs got spooked an' ran at about 150 yrds. the Millett has a large objective (56mm) and good glass, just a little moon goes a long way. i sold it last month cause I just didn't use it like i thought I would. If you buy one buy the Subzero for the cold it's worth the xtra cash. my focus now is buying a Ruger Gunsite carbine and putting a good 1-4 X 24 scope on it  and mounting a PVS-14 night vision on the rail in front of the scope. should be a good day/night  setup.

so i picked this little paratrooper up the other day for a small fee and it looked like crap. missing magazine, mismatched numbers, finish all worn off.

i spent all day dressing her up and then I thought might as well go out and show her off. haven't  been out in 3 weeks almost cause of work. well anyway, spotted her date about 100 yards out. stalked in to 25 and planted a kiss right between the eyes! looks like she is on the money! cell phone picks suck, but it's what i had with me.

183 yrds with 15 mph crosswind. even though i hit her high she was DOS when i got to her. AMAX's are devastating. will not be using them for deer season.

the yote lost. small female. shot at 67 yards with my recently acquired Century 91/30. handload of 125 gr. Sierra ProHunter over 45 grains of IMR 4895 with Prvi brass.

well not quite true. group of 10 with this little sow at 336 yrds. loaded some 168 gr Amax bullets backed with IMR 4895. the Howa seemed to like them. she turned her head just as i dropped the hammer, not that it mattered! sorry about the pics, all i had was my phone.

full moon out last night gave me an exceptional view of about 30-40 shadowy figures moving about. ranged this little female at 266 yards. put a 155 Scenar thru her skull. didn't even need the laser genetics ND3.
