7  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: what breed of dog is in him? on: January 07, 2010, 10:28:51 pm
thanks for all the replies everyone, i like the he can be whatever you want him to be

how does his bark sound? Pits have a high pitch bark, and ears tend to hang different.
looks like he has some lab in him.
How old is he? Is he a young dog or an older dog?
Ive seen some good dogs come out of the pound. Azn

he's a younger dog, i think a little less than a year, he hadn't dropped his manhood when i found him,

I can tell from the pic he is 23.8753 % Staffordshire Terrier, 18.6348 % Border Collie and 8.3257 % Lab...but I can't tell you what else is in him......... Grin
man you do know you dogs, if you can tell that from a picture then you need to just start taking peoples money and tellin em from a picture what they're dog is, id do it if i had that kind of TALENT

10  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Regulation bay pen on: December 28, 2009, 09:19:50 pm
a regulation bay pen would be good though
everyone could build one if needed, and dogs could be use to the size they have to work with
11  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / How important is conformation? on: December 24, 2009, 09:36:22 pm
my question is how important is conformation to a hog dog? I was reading a post at another board and a man said a dog can only perform to its full ability and conformation has everything to do with it,

is it really that important?

Thanks for any info
12  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Should a dog have a good handle before being put in the woods? on: December 24, 2009, 05:54:09 pm
thanks for all the opinions
i personally haven't hunted hogs with dogs,
i haven't been able to, but i like reading about it, maybe one day i will
i asked this question to find out if a handle is nessacary, i can see that a handle can make or break a dog for some people, i have a young dog that might make a coon dog, if not i'll throw him near some hogs and see what he does, he's a stray i found, figure he might need to earn his food, thanks for all the opinions and information,
13  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Should a dog have a good handle before being put in the woods? on: December 23, 2009, 05:30:21 pm
i didn't want to jack anyone's post that i saw,
should a young dog have a pretty good handle on them before they go into the woods?
or should you worry about that later on?
i'd like to hear both sides of the opinion if there are two sides
thanks for any information

17  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: how old do u cull pups? on: December 07, 2009, 09:06:16 pm
I'm new to hog hunting
but have been around dogs quite a bit
i wouldn't cull a young dog till i know for sure he's not gonna go for what you want
i would give him all the time and patience that he needs till i can see it in his body that he just doesn't want it
18  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Couple ?'s on: October 28, 2009, 09:22:17 am

19  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: TnT Baying coming in October! on: October 06, 2009, 09:56:30 am

20  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Dog bites..no, not that kind..... on: October 05, 2009, 12:31:38 pm
i don't believe the bite would affect a bay dog,
some breeds are meant to have an underbite, but not many,
one breed that comes to mind is a boxer, but you don't see many of those on hogs
i wouldn't worry about it, since he works good in the woods
