1  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: What states have how many hogs? Results of survey on: January 08, 2010, 12:31:57 pm
Well since this scientist is such a genius with the knowledge of tracking these pics and counting their numbers, I think we should go get him on the payroll to show us exactly where to start dropping the dogs out at. We should have a 100% success rate if he's so certain about all of this.  Grin Grin Grin Grin
2  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Read An Interesting Article About "Where To Find The Trohpy" on: January 08, 2010, 12:08:14 pm
And the top 100 is from the Safari Club Record Book. Maybe be we should compare it to the WWT and see what they think about Texas then  Grin
3  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Read An Interesting Article About "Where To Find The Trohpy" on: January 08, 2010, 12:06:16 pm
I was suprized to find Missouri in the top spot for High Fenced, but I would like to see as well if these were hybrids or what they're classifying as a trophy.
4  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Read An Interesting Article About "Where To Find The Trohpy" on: January 08, 2010, 12:04:30 pm
The article was basically coming to a conclusion with what the record books of the Safari Club Record had available. Which in my opinion would not be accurate if they're not going to look at all the records from different organizations. (just my opinion)
Here's some of the results I left the lower numbered ones out.

I was just reading an article yesterday about where to go to kill "Trophy Boar" and have great odds which was strictly figured off of the record books and the results were:

High Fenced/Ranches
1. Missouri 34 of top 100 taken from here
2. Texas   11 of the top 100 taken from here
3. Ohio      6 of the top 100 taken from here
4. NY/PA    4 each

Free Roaming

1. California 33 of top 100 taken

2. Hawaii 31 of top 100 taken

3. Texas 10 of top 100 taken

4. Florida 8 of top 100 taken

5. Georgia 6 of top 100 taken

That seems a little inaccurate but I might be wrong.

6  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Hound Tracer Collars on: January 07, 2010, 08:27:58 pm
They look like they would be worth checking into. Although the collars are $250.00 a piece but a good dog is worth a lot more than that. I'm gonna try to call them and see what else I can find out from a rep. All the info about them on the site sounds great but real life is always different from a sales pitch. And they do offer a 25 day money back guarantee so it might be worth trying on one dog for that and see how it goes.

at least the open dog is hunting and on to something

This is true.

There isn't a sweeter sound than a hound hot on a trail.
8  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: what breed of dog is in him? on: January 07, 2010, 08:03:01 pm

I sure will be glad to see this economy pick back up to about what it was 3 or 4 years ago. We was booming at work back then. I think we should just go ahead and vote a new President in now so we can salvage the economy as much as possible.   Grin

defintely open track is worse that can be heard for along ways. But next time just tell them before you hit the woods that this is how it works, and if they can't do it then don't take them back.
12  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: what breed of dog is in him? on: January 07, 2010, 06:45:44 pm

13  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Hound Tracer Collars on: January 07, 2010, 06:44:34 pm
Anyone ever tried these collars? They're by tiny loc. They run off of GPS with a 13.6 mile range + radio tracking with a 35.4 mile range. Their website is www.tinyloc.com I've never heard of them before.
14  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: WAS DIGGIN THRU SOME PICS ON MY COMPUTER! on: January 07, 2010, 10:17:00 am
Yes it was real fun, had a farmer pretty upset cuz they were tearin up his corn field.  So we flushed the field with dogs and caught about 4 than had shooters set up with buckshot and night vision rifles.  Sounded like war was goin on that night. Smiley

OK NOW I'M JEALOUS!!!!!!! Wink!! lol sounds almost like running deer dogs

18  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Just A Little Tip on: January 07, 2010, 12:33:32 am
I had a 8 week old pup get into some rat poison a couple of days ago and called the vet, and they said to give him 1/2 teaspoon (about 2 cc) of hydrogen peroxide every 15 minutes until he throws up and one he starts he will keep on on his own until everything is out. So we gave him the 2 cc and that was all it took and about 30 minutes later he was back running around just like nothing had happened. Just thought I would pass that little tip on. I've never heard of it before but it sure seem to do the trick.  Oh yeah and this was between 30 minutes to an hour of him getting into it.

20  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: GOOD HUNTIN WENT BAD on: January 07, 2010, 12:25:57 am
Well you did good getting him to the vet pretty quick. I'm sure he will be o.k. but it still sucks being down a good dog. But you definitely got a good hunt and some nice boars and atleast you caught the one the cut the dog.
