What he didn't tell you is that while we were out tryin to find another one I ran a layed over tree through the A arms, through the plastic, past my leg ont he quad. It was stukk and we had to spend 40 minutes getting that durn thang out. These guys are great hog hunters, great teachers, they are a real credit to this sport. Good to hear the Meathead is gonna heal up, maybe by the time the baby is here and my back is healed up a little better, he'll be ready to go get that sob that cut him up, who knows maybe Copper will put his mouth on one this time. Hell I'm happy to see him gettin the idea.

I work at the unemployment office, seriously, been here 10 years, and I part time at our family bbq joint. I only have one "started" dog, so my hunting is at the mercy of my more experienced hog doggin friends.

I met a member from here in Canton and bought three pups from him, He said that they are line bred out of stock from Waco. I got one for me, one for my co-worker, and I gave one away, well my co worker has decided she doesn't want this pup (can't keep her in the fence, doesn't really have a lot of time for her) so she is giving her away. She'll go for free to the first person that can come out and get her she is located in the Marshall, Karnack area. Call Roberta at 903-220-8880

I don't like the guide rods, they blink, I like one that stays solid. Unless its going on a Glock 40 I would go with sonething like a TLR-2, that way you have a light, if it is for CC just get some trijicon night sights. I always found that if i was looking for the dot on the target, i shot like crap and real slow followup as compared to looking down the sights at the target, just my 2 cents though

HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Cowboy Churches

I am the music minister at my church too Levi!! We don't have a pianist so I play guitar and I have a bass player on Sunday. We are a small congregation, but all the guys here at the church hunt and fish and will come out to help with anything. Our hog trappin honey hole is actually our pastors back yard. I have been thinking almost the same thing; about trying to have a church sponsored hog hunt, or hunting expos. Have you ever heard of Fishers of Men? My pastor used to fish that circuit. They are a bass fishing organization that has tournaments, in order to fish, you have to attend a church service the night before, and they are encouraged to invite a "non-Christian" as their fishin partner, that way they have them at a church service the night before and in a boat all day to share the gospel. I wonder if something like that annually would draw a decent hog hunting crowd to spread the good news?

THE CLASSIFIEDS / THE DOG TRADE / FREE YBMC Pup 12 wk old - Already Gone
|
on: March 22, 2010, 08:56:44 am
|
Already Gone, thanks for all the replys!! Went and met a member from here yesterday, bought 3 YBMC females, we only wanted 1, gave one away to a friend, need to find a home for this little girl. Free to the first person that says they can come get her this evening, we live in Harleton, TX we can meet you in Diana, TX or Marshall, TX. What he told me about the pups; she is 12 weeks old, line bred out of hard hunting dogs out of Waco, he is a cattleman/hog hunter he went out and bought the most of this litter and then his friend gave him a couple hard line bred pups, so he cut his loss sold these for kennel space. She is colored real cool, her muzzel fades and she has a dark neck and the end of her tail is black, pretty pup. We would keep her but only have room for one more at our place. We don't want anything for her, but for her to go to a good home, prefferably hunting!! So. . . someone please come get this pup!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can send pics via phone after 3pm hotrodsdime2000@yahoo.com or leave a message with my wife and I will call you back, my phone is broke and I am at work:

HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: What do I do??

Hey man, I feel your pain, I'm in about the same boat. I have a 7 month old BMC, I'm going to pick him up a little girlfriend on Sunday, seems like every time I have tried to find another pup something has gone wrong. I have a place to put a shoat, and build a good sized bay pen, but I can't find one. Me and my pup went huntin with some great guys I met on here, happened to be the guy I got him from, but he (my pup) was a little confused about what all was going on his first time in the woods. I just haven't found time to get back in the woods, maybe when summer gets here and college is done. I want to get something started, but it just aint working out for me. We decided on BMC for a pet more than a hunting dog, we really love the breed, but the bug has bit and I really just want a couple of good find a pig, coon, squirrel, any game that I can hunt with them, shoot over curs. Just keep pluggin away and it will all come together, thats what I'm gonna do!!

We changed insurance after the first year on our house, and farmers home owners went through a list of breeds asking if we owned any of them. BMC and Shi Tzu were not on the list so we were good

GENERAL CATEGORY / HUNTING AND FISHING / Re: Educate me on Coon Dogs/ coon hunting
|

I'm glad I found this thread, ok so I got a BMC pup with the thought of hog doggin, I haven't given up that thought, but I haven't found the time to get him in the woods with other hogdogs, or a piglet to start working him in a pen at my place yet. Well, me and a friend put out some traps and got a coon yesterday. My dog is about 7 months old now, when we showed him the coon he went nuts, and when we dispatched the coon we dropped it out of the trap still kickin, he grabbed it and commenced to shakin it rough. Is this a good sign? I am salt curing the hide and am going to play with him and do some drags, want to see if he takes to them. Whenever we go in the woods he is always nose down on some kind of trail. I'm pretty sure he has some hunt in him, I just hope I can train him, never trained a huntin dog before.
