6  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Finally,a Rank Boar caught in VIRGINIA... on: February 20, 2012, 08:33:32 pm

First off thanks to all of you for the great reads. Wish I lived & worked where I could hunt on a more consistent basis. But living 60 minutes from Washington DC we dont have much here but we do have a little herd . It was imported from L.A 10 years ago to start a Hunt Preserve, Never happened and the hogs escaped. THANK GOD for bad fencing.
Now I know you guys get on these Rank boars , but all we caught have been smaller tooth less aggressive hogs, Well that all changed yesterday. Been stalking a big boy for a couple weeks. my partner CHARLIE's Mason CAT got on him alone about a mile out and got shredded 2 weeks ago. Yesterday we went to his area and made a pass to no avail. On the way to the truck, Charlies 3 curs headed up and in bout 200, my Plott went straight in. Per the Garmin they were headed right at each other. And when the Bay popped off we didnt hear any Squeeling. And my lil plott is real catchy. So we figured it my be BIG, and it was tough getting there so we cut the Bulldog loose at 200. ANd even after he got there still no pig noises. Well we found out why. This hog had so many scars and meat hanging from him, broken top teeth from fighting it was crazy. ANd all his shots on my dogs were Throat and center chest. Very skilled pig. Hell he didnt even squeel when he was stuck...Got super lucky my Bulldog had another collar under his vest and my plott got just pure lucky, she took one to the side but it came through the center of her vest. Thanks for reading and we are still a little pumped up here n Yankee land....."So yes Virginia their are Rank Hogs here"

Got a Call from a new contact, he is a Business owner and the Hogs have been DESTROYING his Nursrey. Me and my partner Charlie headed out bout 10pm. We took Charlies KEMMER CUR  "Cornball" , his BMC/REDBONE "Sonny" , my Croceket PLott "KEMA" , my Mason CAT "CANNON BALL " and my Bulldog "Dirty Dog". We cast them out to the fields and headed for the wood line, after a 20-30 min we heard a yip from Cornball, indicating he was on a hot track, after 2-3 more min our Garmins indicated all 4 Baydogs were headed towards the same spot, so we proceeded quickly. On the way  we heard all 4 open up , and while running we could hear the rumble , snorts and comotion of a pack of pigs. We cut the Bulldog loose at about 110 yrds and then heard the big Squeel's. As we got there I noticed My cat Rolled out ending up 900 yrds in aBeeline. I guess he was runnng something that broke. When the dust settled is was an fat sow we had caught..

After letting the woods settle and my Cat coming back we headed back out to see if we could pick up any straglers from the pack, We headed across the road to the cornfield and cut em loose again, And again we heard Cornball bay, and then I cut DIRTY loose, except the bay broke and after a short time the Bulldog came back . The Garmin showed he went out bout 200 yrds. Not long after he returned we heard a quick bay and I held the bulldog to see if the bay stuck and we hard the Big Squeels and I knew my Plott bitch was there and had it caught. I cut the Bulldog loose anyway for more experince, we when arrived it was a little guy 30-40 lbs . Now we had to go clean up our dead pigs and call it a night.

I know the pigs ain't much but we are way north and not far from WASHINGTON DC, so anything is a plus. We are seeing some Serious sign of huge hogs and I can't wait for that BAy. Until then we will keep learning about wind, rubbs, wallow sign and reading the dogs . Oh yeah and pray for  a number 2load of LUCK....

Me n my Bulldog "Dirty"

Charlie,me and his 2 baydogs Sonny & "Cornball"

Thats Charlie, and some random CRACKHEAD at 7/11 that wouldn't leave us alone..lol and my 2 dogs, "Cannon" and "Kema" the plott
16  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Dog Transporter on: November 06, 2010, 10:55:17 am
Just used Cajun Pet Transport and it was super nice. the dog came from Mr Masons in TX to 10 min from me IN Central VA , for $300.00. Guy even sleeps in the Sprinter so the dogs are never alone. Real knowledgable as well. He tended to a couple scrapes and didn't freak out about the dogs weight , which was lean due to being worked alot. Check him out you shouldn't be disappointed..

Great looking Bitch for sure.. I must have just missed your dog as I stayed with Eddie & Jenna in March for there AB show. Would have loved to seen her. And I have a few dogs down from ROSCO, and so far all have been good Bulldogs, catchin on the ear and starting early at it. How is your Queen dog bred?

I was under the impression SOME algae is ok. It acts as a  natural filtration system doesn't it? like streams which have some algae.
