HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Bark prevention.

Used the BB gun with a lot of success. Moved to a house where my dogs are 170yds from my room, and had to use other methods. Most of mine decided they didn’t want to get wopped by a lead anymore, but occasionally one would be hard headed. After the smart dogs learned fast, the rest followed suit. A light wop and holler HUSH. For the last 6 years I have been able to holler hush from 170yds and all you hear are crickets. I guess the old teaches the new. I know it doesn’t help, my method, but expect a learning curve and some aggravation. I would correct, and if I got all the way to the house and heard one bark, I’d walk back and correct again... as many times as it took. Usually have about 12 head. Consistency and perseverance is the key.

Several years back when I was using the 1.47% imidacloprid the calculation I came up with was about 13 cc’s for a 40- 60 pound dog...
Forgot to mention pour on between shoulder blades and top line... Pm sent Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If some of you want to go a bit cheaper, I use dominion 2L. I use it sort of like frontline 2-3cc at tail and neck. Active ingredient is imidacloprid, same as advantix. I put it on once per week till fleas are gone... usually 1-2 treatments. Around $20 of 20oz

Dang Cody I hate to hear that, sucks loosing one period but makes it worse when it's one that you have that bond with, if your interested I got a litter of bulldog pups on the ground now off some solid stock that your welcome to one of you wish, still won't be ready for another month or so...
I appreciate it, but as luck would have it, Semmes just had another litter out of her sister bred to her half brother. I’m getting pick of litter female out of it. What I am looking for tho, is a well started catch dog ready to hit the ground that only needs fine tuning. Since we aren’t too far apart, keep an ear to the ground if you can. That sucks bad man sorry to hear that. Any intestinal or peri sites would show tell well before that point sounds like cardiovascular or pulmonary issue. She was a very beautiful dog my friend

Thanks Noticed something off around noon, 4hrs later she passed. Leaning toward hematemesis... but can’t truly pin point it. Definitely has to be something out of the norm. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

RIP Roux-ga-Roux (Roux) Had a strong bond with this one as she has gotten me out of a bind a couple times. Most recent I shot her off to a boar running straight at me with curs on his tail. At about 5 steps, seen her and ran. She grabbed his hock as he turned and straddled him around a tree. She took a small beating, as I was on it in 10 seconds. Only time she didn’t catch ear, was to save me, and the couple times she didn’t have room on the head. Could always count on her to have my back... lock, shoulder and anchor. Raised her from a pup, and had 4 good years of training and catching. Easiest to handle, no beef, but hell on a pig... this one hurt like hell. I guess the worst of all is that I have no idea what happened, and still don’t know how to tell the kids. If anyone is extremely well versed in parasites, or intestinal/internal issues of a dog, I would really appreciate some answers. Please PM me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Biting flies

Those pesky biting flies are back for the summer. They usually get my light colored dogs ears pretty bad but noticed a few others getting hit and some sores coming up. Has anyone tried using the Python cattle tags? I picked up a box yesterday and plan to try them out this evening... just looking for a few pointers. I read up that they help with flies, fleas, ticks and possible mosquitoes.

Dang... that’s a big wallow!

We found a couple more but none that size. Weird thing is around each one... every single tree within a 30yrd circle was muddy. This was one of the trails off the big wallow Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Still can’t get away from the meat hogs, and shoats but had a successful hunt. One out of 5 were photo worthy. Haven’t been on this place in 2yrs and we are the only ones with permission. The sign in this place has blown up. Pretty sure we found a regularly used community wallow. Got the first one and played hell getting the dogs off of shoats, but left 8-10 little ones alone to grow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

As far as I know it’s a bi-monthly magazine unless they change it over the last 2 years. I did a lot of work with Ed and his crew with getting material and sending in my own... back in my pre-divorce days.
You won’t find a better group of people that are more devoted to our sport. If you ever get a chance to sit and talk with Ed, do yourself the favor.

Nice hunt Mike. Bull and I go back to high school. Played football with him and his brother for a few years. He’s always been a great guy and tough SOB. Still text him a few times a month. Planning on getting him to bring those hounds a a place or two of mine within the next month... keep laying them over!

I’ve experienced those before joe, just not often on a sow. We catch fairly regular... just have a lot of running hogs on those 2 leases. We got a big boat around Christmas that didn’t make a mark on anything Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
