1  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Question: Female bred to two different males....... on: March 08, 2012, 02:39:20 pm
when i use to coon hunt i bought a walker female for my male to breed and he had bred like 25 females before always threw good tri colored pups this female come in they tied up twice a day every day she was in a one freakin day the neighbors lab climbed the fence and i get home he was in the pen with her and i let him out now he just bred her once that one day that lab did and walkers are tri colored and when she had the pups the pups were all straight yellow every freaking one of them were out of that lab so I neutered the neighbors lab and he never showed back up.

it depends half will be from 1 and half will be out of the other and they all could be from just one and one pup could be out of 1 male and the rest be from the other male

i get cd's at the pound and I was looking for a cd for a friend and there was this big like 70lb red dog there looked like ridge back and jerman sheppard and the animal control guy said thats our mirical dog Mr. Lucky is his name and he said they gave him the injection he went down heart stopped put him in a bag dumped him behind the dump next morning he was back at the kennel wanting some food he said he called the vet and the vet said that happens once in a life time he heard and that was the first for him and that he would be back that evening and do it for free and that he won't wake up this time and the animal control guy said no this dog survived the injection for a reason and he will stay here til he gets a home or die of old age and i said ill take em i give 10 bucks for him after his first pig in the woods he was a pig finding machin couldn't ask for a better dog and sold him for 1500 bucks a month after i got him we named him P.H. (pound hound).

Mine know the difference.  Definitely get excited at a bark, but know when they've bayed - mostly by watching me and my actions.

One major drawback is that if you get a busted bay before the CD gets there, they will keep following your strike dogs as long as they're barking.  Got to be careful in the heat.  Had a bay break last year and CD's stayed with them for 3/4 of a mile and caught.  Thank goodness it was winter and not summer.

I always run Garmins on the bulldogs and make it priority #1 to grab them ASAP after a busted bay.
Yeah I hate a busted bay i keep garmins on mine to but they caught a mile or further away and couldn't get there fast enough and got killed happened to one of mine 3 in a half years ago and my last one in january had em bayed about 30ft cut em loose the hog hit him head on threw him back and ran he took off after the pig with the other dogs ended up catching one by himself in some thick thick nasty briars and i tried and tried to get to him and he had ahold of one that weighed 280 by the nose and there was another pig hitting him in the flank when i got there the other pig ran off and we caught the one he had caught and he collapse soon as we pulled him off and it sucked did everything I could he was with us for 3 years and thats just whats going to happen every hunter says

My p&p cut vest got cut through this weekend it's just on it's second season.  It is the lighter version but it now has 2 good size punch wholes and a 4" cut. Just my 2 cents

Any vest can get cut or poked through and I'd be willing to bet Larry will repair your vest for you at no charge.

he will patch it for free and if u don't like it he will give u ur money back for it when u send it back to him
12  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Hounds- The original hunting dog! on: February 16, 2012, 09:37:36 pm
ill hunt with anybody long as the dogs don't trail bark i don't hunt with trail barkers i have the most beautiful walker hound u could ever find and he stays home cause he barks on trail if u take him by himself just u and him he's silent but one other dog barks every step
13  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Starting pups, on: February 16, 2012, 08:36:53 pm
put a piglit in a cage get another dog to bark at it and the pups should take interest and just keep moving them up to bigger ones til they get old enough to hunt
14  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: pup question on: February 16, 2012, 08:33:28 pm
I just picked up two pups the other day and this morning I found blood in their stool and it was runny, I was wondering if giving them wormer and changing there food could have caused this, I know that blood is a sign for parvo but I've delt with that before and I don't think that's it! Any advice sis welcome. Thanks

Give them five days of panicur 1 cc per five pounds then an interceptor pill that'll cur them worms
15  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: worming routine ? on: February 16, 2012, 08:30:25 pm
interceptor once a month

" I live on the oklahoma tx border hwy 75 we don't have near as many hogs as you guys do "    Cheesy

Dear sir if you live anywhere south of ADA then you have 10x the hogs down there that i have up here in north east OKLAHOMA. If you doubt me for a second I'll be home from New Mexico late next week say thursday or so. I can pm you my name and number, you load your dogs, take the short drive north and let's see just how good your 3/4 cur 1/4 plott dogs really are. my offer stands any time in the future if you can't or won't come up this weekend  Wink

God Bless

u can come huinting down here and we have a 12 year old catahoula that will out hunt any hound and never trash
17  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Cut vest ?'s on: February 16, 2012, 07:33:48 pm

18  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / what exactly is a curr on: February 16, 2012, 07:25:57 pm
I was always told a curr is a mixed up hunting dog a little hound little bull dog cattle dog bird dog any kind of hunting dog all mixed up is what i told was a curr dog
19  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Hounds- The original hunting dog! on: February 16, 2012, 07:15:47 pm
well i have to say the only hound ill hunt is a silent plott the rest are made for treeing and the last i remember hogs don't climb tree's I live on the oklahoma tx border hwy 75 we don't have near as many hogs as you guys do and are hogs run around here but a trail barking hound don't do the trick for us cause the more they bark the further them hogs run they don't go up a tree like a bear or cat so ill stick with my 1/4 plott and 3/4 cur or catahoula's but nothing can beat a good ol cur dog.
20  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Hog Hounds on: February 16, 2012, 07:03:23 pm
In my opinion any dog no matter what breed if he quits are comes out he gets cull around here.  I have had some mighty fine dogs back out when they got hurt pretty good that I thought would have never done that and I give them a second chance thats a big mistake because if they will do it once they will do it again and I aint taken no chances of that dog ending up life long here and me maybe breeding to  him and me not knowing if he will do it again so you do it once around here you are gone gone gone I dont give a damn how they are bred thats why I dont give no second chances no more.
Get an 1/8 th pit in ur strike dogs and they will do the trick just enough to keep them in but not catch till the catch dog does they'll never back out.
