Heck I cant remember the last time I was 25 yards from a bay much less felt I needed to get closer to cut the bulldog! It really must have been thick Jimmy.  I have read this same story 100 times, prolly the same hog. Yall must have ninja hogs or something, my dogs rarely lose these Arkansas hogs and I don't have nothing but culls.

Blood stop powder is good for small stuff but be careful using it on larger cuts it basically cooks the outer layer of the cut and will stunt the healing process extremely. Those vein pokes do look bad and cause bad infections but you know how to handle em now

When you are hunting pups you need to find the sign for them. You need to drop them on hogs. If you let a young sog hunt when he doesnt know exactly what he is hunting you get your dogs trashing..... on everything except hogs. Then you spend the next year trashbreaking them. I dont think it takes any potential out of a dog doing this. Once i can pass a deer track up i just seen and dogs dont raise their noses or start yipping in excitement i am comfortable to let them hunt in no sign.  If they can wind one in no sign 400 or 900 yards away thats plenty for me. Big o , baiv and haldbreed got the right mind set.......
