2  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Starting my own line of dogs on: February 05, 2014, 08:19:51 am
I have been hog hunting my whole life and had my own dogs 10 or so years now. Most of my family has been hog huntin for generations so I has some pretty fair dogs handed to me to work with when I started my own pack. My yard looks like a rainbow with all the different breeds and colors now but all are hog dogs. I have decided to use a half plott half catahoula LONG range male and a pretty lounge range catahoula female as my foundation. Both dogs have tons of hunt lots of bottom and a fair amount of grit. I have a full catahoula pup out of the catahoula gyp and his sire to mix in if need be down the road that are both proven dogs. Any pointers on how tight they can be breed and culling pups and when to out cross or just any pointers

Took her huntin Friday and Saturday. No dog aggression at all. Super fast getting to a bay. One heck of a bite and pretty nice leading a small dog to a bay instead of a tank. We run 2 CDs so there a bigger one always to anchor

Dog has caught 100+ hogs around 55lbs working weight. Straight ear usually turn him loose around 50 yards or so but if he can hear it he will be there.
Selling him because him and my old male catahoula hate each other and have other CDs he is fine with any other dog he is around except my old catahoula  $300 1870-575-2683  t_phill28@yahoo.com

No problem with other dogs at all. That's why I got her one of my main male CDs and my old catahoula hate each other. He is fine with any dog other than him both want to be dominant dogs

Wish I knew bloodline. Guy that had her before me said wasn't 100% sure but came off yard with lot of jeep dogs. All of my bulldogs in the past have came from dogs that been in my family forever  for catch dogs. I'm not real knowledgeable on game breed lines been around a lot but none myself

I have ran lot of different kinds like already said most do the trick. My favorite are the hardcore hog dogs deluxe cut collar well made and like the location of the double d rings for rigging dogs and the way tracking loops are made

15  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: how many dogs do I need? on: January 27, 2014, 11:39:16 am
I agree with y'all on catchin hogs with 2 good dogs or even 1 dog but only having one or two dogs to hunt gonna cause you to miss out on some hunts. It ain't if they get cut down run Down or to sick for some reason to hunt its when. Of course lot depends on if your running same 2 dogs several days a week or just a weekend warrior

I know some dogs are more mellowed out than others but for the ones that are not what do you do to train a pup to walk calmly and quietly into a bay?

I believe the problem is broken wire that goes from antenna hook up to board on the hand held can't figure out where it hooks to on the board
