HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / garmin question

i have the 220 and started out with 3 of the dc30 collars and they do ok i usually dont loose them until the dogs get to 600-900 yards. i recently bought 6 of the dc40 from a coworker i added them to my 220 and done all the updates on them, and went hunting last weekend and i was loosing connection at 200-300 yards with the dc40s, we were in a place that i have tracked with my dc30s and never had an issue. i ordered the tuff skin antennas for the collars and the long flexible antenna for the 220, i swapped out the antennas yesterday turned all the collars on made sure i had a good signal from them i put them out in the middle of my yard (no trees in the yard to block the signal) i drove down the highway and lost signal at .85 on all 9 collars i thought that i should be able to pick them up further than that. does having several collars on at the same time interferre with the signals like it does with the radio type collars? i have heard people talk about tracking dogs at over a mile in the woods, i dont know what else to do just wondering what kinda range yall get with them, and any suggestions yall might have.

mike-im Sure you get static interference from lots of things, the power lines , alarms on oil pump , cell phones have given problems too xm radios that's the same pulses that gives u a interference! i have used the quick track for over a year ! I stop using it for that reason because i have lost good dogs an jagds at that! ya i see yall stand point on insurance to have a back up! but i do hunt south Texas brush an find garmin works just fine!
Need to come hunt our country, not so user friendly. Alot more pines here then you have I d say bud i do hunt pines too in winnfeild, la... im not knocking your dogs but all i can say is they must not get out very far cause i hunt in winn, bienville, and natchitoches parishes all the time and my garmin consistently fails when the dogs get to a little over 1000 yards, and yes i have the long range antennas on my collars and on the handheld and the only way i can track past 1000 yards is if both me and the dogs are in a open cutover. it makes me happy happy happy when a hunting buddy has a sorry ole telemetry collar that i can put on my dogs.

well over here in louisiana we run deer with dogs and i have seen several times you could jump a buck in a block of woods nobody get a shot at him then come back to the same block of woods the next morning and jump the same buck. i have seen it happen on more than one occasion.
