This is the 8th year I have been involved in the TDHA hunt, showing support for the group that works to inform you of what is going on in Austin, helping members with Legal battles, and helping the needy.

Where is your support as dog owners?
Come out enjoy and have a great time.  Just like in an election, if you don't vote your was lost.
73  NEWS AND UPDATES / TEXAS LAWS and BILLS / Re: disturbing news on: February 24, 2013, 09:34:43 am
There is a change and guns, dogs, and being able to hunt is on the line.  Most still think that it'll never be taken away but they are setting us up for the big push and the Anti's have more money and votes that the hunters with dogs do.

Think, we didn't have a say about the National Forrest but just a few people took this away, hunting deer with dogs was passed, now they are saying it's inhumane on the hogs and dogs to hunt.
If we don't work together we will be facing big changes in the next 4 years.

75  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: animal planet at our next bayn on: February 05, 2013, 06:14:02 pm
Anti's in Austin are telling me that they have gained the upper hand and the dog hunters will defete ourselfs.

It's outlawed in FL. all but Uncle Earls in LA.  I have been too and entered a lot of bayings and have never seem one where no dog, at some time, didn't put their mouth on the hog.  Only takes one.  I have had film crews come sign contracts and I have yet to see the film before it came out on TV.

Hope you have looked at everything really close, good luck.
76  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: animal planet at our next bayn on: February 05, 2013, 02:27:40 pm
This is the worst thing you could do.  If only one dogs bites a hog they will show it over and over and tell how curel this is and you let it happen.

I agree, because I have been there many times, thay say that you will see what they will show but fact is you only get to see it when it's on the TV and you can't even remember what they show and how bad it looked and they keep showing it over and over.

77  NEWS AND UPDATES / TEXAS LAWS and BILLS / What's going on in Austin on: February 03, 2013, 11:06:44 am
TDHA is there, where are you??

From RPOA Texas Outreach and
Responsible Pet Owners Alliance
Crossposting is encouraged.
February 3, 2013

On January 31, 2013, US District Court Judge James Nowlin denied Responsible
Pet Owner Alliance's request for a Preliminary Injunction to block
enforcement of the 2011 Dog and Cat Breeder Act and the rules promulgated
therefrom while this case moves forward to its resolution. Our request for
a Temporary Injunction was previously denied.

This was not unexpected as we'd forewarned that the injunction would be very
difficult to obtain.
But most unexpected were statements made by Judge Nowlin himself. We lost
before we ever entered the courtroom!

We realized we were in shark infested waters when the Security Guard asked
at the door: "Are you here for the HSUS lawsuit?"
HSUS and Texas Humane Legislation Network (THLN) filed an Amicus Brief
supporting the state of Texas, and Texas Department of Licensing &
Regulation (TDLR), but we weren't aware that this was "their" lawsuit. Hey,
HSUS did write the Texas bill! Forgot about that!

Judge Nowlin previously served in our state legislature and informed the
court that he was a personal close friend of Rep. Senfronia Thompson,
sponsor of HB 1451, the misnamed "Puppy Mill" Bill, and they had lunch
together last week. Surely this was just a coincidence! The judge assured
everyone this would not affect his decision.

HSUS, their state affiliate Texas Humane Legislation Network, the state and
TDLR had an entourage of six attorneys at the table. RPOA had our attorney
Steve Thornton and members James Smith, Mary Visser, Teresa Arnett, Tina
Patterson and George Armstrong at the hearing to our knowledge. There may
have been others.

"It ain't over 'til it's over," so this is only the beginning, the first
step so to speak. RPOA will persevere with the lawsuit as long as we obtain
sufficient funding to pay our attorney.
In the meantime, our focus is to "repeal and replace HB 1451" with a new
state law that correctly defines a "High Volume Commercial Breeder" and
transfers administration to the Texas Department of Agriculture, eliminates
the Breeder Advisory Committee, Breeder Bounty, Snitch Fund, and many other
onerous sections.

We'll have a Legislature Action Alert in a few days. This flyer below
explains what is wrong with HB 1451 and the changes RPOA seeks with our own
bill.
http://www.rpoatexasoutreach.org/Brochurs_Flyers/TexasBreederBill_ChangesJustification.pdf
Save to your computer and forward to legislators, media, friends, relatives
and all. Do not let HSUS define us in Texas. We'll define ourselves, thank
you, as we're the "reasonable" voice for Texas animals and their owners.
Let's be proactive, not always reactive, and protect our animals from the
extremists who claim to "advocate for animals." Simply not so!

FYI: There are a number of URLs below of articles from various news sources
regarding our lawsuit. We want to give a special Shout Out to Texas Tribune
reporter MAURICE CHAMMAH who demonstrated "real" journalism with his article
below. If you wish to subscribe, Texas Tribune has an excellent email list
reporting on "all things Texas Legislature." This URL was sent out to all
their subscribers and hopefully legislators themselves.

78  NEWS AND UPDATES / TEXAS LAWS and BILLS / Re: Group wanting Obama to stop all Trapping on: February 02, 2013, 07:50:55 am
Your so right and have been trying to get the Hunters that use dogs to stand together but they want and about 9% work so hard and the other 91% conplain and sit on the side lines.

If we want stand together how do you expect us to fight for our rights together?
We all have a choise and some times we choose to fight each other look like.
79  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: I just joined TDHA, who else is going to ? on: February 01, 2013, 01:56:57 pm
Lance,
Thank you for your offer.  It's been a lonely 8 years but have had a couple go once or twice.  It's a Zoo over there and really only need to be there when they have a Bill we need defeating.  We have a lot of other support from Ducks Unlimited and about 60 more outdoor groups that stand with me over there on anything that comes up about Hunting.

Most might not have read the post I just put up about now is the time to voice your thoughts on State and Federial parks and hunting rights because they will be deciding what and how by March first.
Keep nformed is the best way to know what is going on.

Thanks to all that show your support for TDHA and next year we might just have a hog hunt.
80  HOG & DOGS / HOG HUNTING CONTESTS / Re: wow on: January 31, 2013, 05:03:38 pm
Circle C, TDHA has no President at this time.  Paul was and stepped down because of his work and there want be one until an election.  The 5 BOD and the only voting members are running the show.
I, for one have given many hours and miles to TDHA and will keep going to Austin to stand up for all dog hunters.  There is very little interest by most to go and spend the day waiting on Bills and discussion to come up.
I helped restart TDHA back in 2003, with the help of a couple more people we got Incorpated with an Attorney and CPA.  I make 8 to 10 trips to Austin each year at no expense to TDHA and try to inform all dog hunters about what is going on and feel that no one reads.

Since we started the Hog hunt 8 years ago now every Tom , Dick, and Harry is having a contest.  We don't have a processer that is big enough to handle the amount of meat we bring in so we started going to a live hunt and selling the hogs and will again this year be having a place on the entry form that the hunters can pick one of three places we donate the money.

Looking at the # of members on ETHD we had about 50 at the most that are TDHA member that do support by their yearly dues of $25.00.

If the hunters that uses dogs don't come together we will loose our rights to use dogs in hunting.

As to hog contest, hunt the contest you want to and enjoy.  TDHA will give buckles this year to the top 4 places with lot of other items that the other places might win also.  Extreme Mag. along with Pigman will be at the contest and also hunting in it.

All I have every asked is for the dog hunters to support the Cause.
