1  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: on: August 07, 2014, 05:43:17 pm
I've had that black dog in the pic for 4 years he's caught on the nose probably 85% of the time.  He'll dang sure make a hog sit back,  haven't had too many broken snouts we sell all the hogs we catch to a buyer.  We can't barr hogs around here your reputation for releasing caught hogs would put you out of business.

Any info on someone that will brand dogs?  I need to have mine branded. There's lots of dog thieves around central Texas nowadays,  if you've got some good dogs better to be safe than sorry.  At least maybe you'll have a better chance of locating them.

I use the 55 gallon blue barrels.  Cheapest and probably most durable way to go

Here's my samurai it still needs a little work.  Gotta repaint it and get the dog box built in the bank of it but it's a damn good rig.  They're tough as nails and you can't get the Sucker stuck.  If you road hunt your dogs 4L 1st hear is perfect for just piddling down ol pasture roads.

Jas anyone tried the homemade remedy with vinegar Epson salt and Dawn.  I tried it and it never worked,  just wondering if anyone else had a different result?

I use eraser.  You can get it at almost any feed store it takes it a few days to kill them but once the start dying they will stay dead.

We catch and hobble or kill all the hogs we catch.  The local farmers and ranchers wouldn't like the fact that you're letting hogs go that were caught. You wouldn't have a good Mabee very long.

Not real sure the guy I hunt with that have him to me knows more about him.  He came from Joey Johnson.  Think his sire was from Johnson and the dam come from Parker

This is what mine looks like.  Kinda a small framed dog.  He struck this big boar as his first hog at 9 months old at 250 yards.

I've got one I got from a guy a month ago.  He's 10 months old and he already kinda hunts by himself and ranges pretty good sometimes.  Kinda wondering what to expect from a Parker.  I've never hunted around any before.

Dies anybody on here run Parker curs in their crew?  How do you like them if you do?

I know some of the big time breeders give a guarantee for a year but when it dies or gets real sick you have to have some solid proof of what it died from.  A lot of them also have a statement saying the dog can't be put on his until after one year of age or it voids the guarantee.

Yes we hunt in Coryell County.  Mostly out toward Jonesboro but we hunt some places out on Coryell Creek some too.
