1  GENERAL CATEGORY / HUNTING AND FISHING / Yellow fever on: September 03, 2020, 06:30:33 pm
Went out Wednesday targeting the yellowtail again. We managed to go 5 for 8 this time around which is a pretty good hook to land ratio. Scored the jackpot, buddy busted his cherry and got his first. It was a good day. Did not use the AK.

NChoghunter, Do you know Ken Spell? I went and made a hunt with him a several years ago. They really have some dinner plate size tracks over there. Just a few years ago Ken shot a 720# or 740# bear. I forgot which. A lot of people dont realize the big bear that come off the coast over there. They really know how to bait too. They will dump a dump truck load of peanuts for bait.

I think that depends on your host, if I remember right the seasons are split for the western (mountain area) and the coastal zone.

I got a pretty good one hanging around!

Cajun, that's a man sized bear you got on your camera. Hope you get a follow up story to go with the trail cam pics.

Me and a buddy of mine bear hunted coastal NC back in the 90’s, there are some massive bears there. Where we hunted was Washington and Terrell counties, lots of corn and big swamps. Our group had bears in the 350/450lb range and we saw some being checked in that were over 600lb. Dress accordingly.

I was a bit surprised by that sow too, and the fact she stood there and didn’t take off after the initial hit/miss

I’ve used cbd drops for pain management for my dogs, it seems to help.

12  GENERAL CATEGORY / HUNTING AND FISHING / Finally got on the water on: July 02, 2020, 10:17:16 pm
As the title says, I finally got on the water. I’ve been showing my neighbor the ropes the last couple seasons, so we get out to Catalina and it’s on. Big yellowtail boiling on bait, this place has reef structure about 60’ under us and those fish know how to break your heart. I was the first to get picked up out of about 20 people, I made it count and got the fish on the boat. Just got done grilling some, hopefully this is just the start. Neighbor got his first crack at one of these, poor dude was a bit under gunned in the tackle department and got rocked.

Hollowpoint... I think my bait was bigger than your jagds hahaha!

Hollow point, good thing we just have the snakes.

No doubt, I’m always half expecting one of my little dogs to become a Scooby snack to one of those things whenever I’m out that way.

I'm glad you're catching those dragons, a jagd wouldn't even give that thing bad breathe.

Can I get a pair of boots out him, or at least a wallet? Thanks in advance.

Gary, 2 years ago a friend in Hawaii (3rd generation hog hunter)  sent me a pic of a double tusk jaw he had caught. I had never seen one personally.
