I always enjoy hearing about folks supporting Wounded Warriors like you did Cajun and Highwater, I’m not sure how well I’d do in that environment, sounds challenging enough tho

TDog, we all had to deal with a school yard bully at sometime in our live, I figure if you can’t punch him in the nose and beat him you ought to be able to style on him like Michael Flatly and River dance on him.
Judge, I’m north of the Red River about 60 miles right off the I-35 in Sulphur

Judge, I wish I knew you had that pup, I would’ve gave him a home. T dog hope you’re feeling better, I’ll take your word for it on how bad it is, I hate getting sick and don’t want it. Here’s my two dog entry, my male and Ruby dog got after one today and ran it for about a half hour through a brushy stream bottom area. I watched them on the garmin go round and round, they did a figure eight, went east, came back west, I heard Chopper barking three different times where I thought he might be closing in and getting ready to stop him, but the hog won the day. Was still fun to watch them improve and stay in the race the way they did. https://rumble.com/v6jda2g-chopper-and-mischa.html

HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Woods bay event

I went to a woods dog bay event Saturday in south Oklahoma, mostly wanted to see some old friends and make some new ones, both objectives were met. This was a no pro dog bay, which is fine by me since my dogs aren’t pro at anything except eating, sleeping and leaving something for me to clean up afterwards.
I entered my 3yo male in the one dog and he and my 8yo gyp in the two dog. My male made a top ten showing out of about 50 entries, but not good enough to be in the money. In the two dog event mine were doing good but my male had 5 loop outs every time the boar charged, so that put us out of the money again.
There were several folks from different parts of Texas a crew from California and it seemed like running hounds and crosses were the most competitive as well as the yellow curs and catahoula. The usual mix, a lot of fine dogs I would feed. I was the only knucklehead dumb enough to bring jagd’s, but the crowd seems to enjoy watching them. I told my wife, people like to see them in the bay pen because it’s like crashes in nascar, there’s a better than average chance of a wipeout. Fortunately for me I didn’t need to patch them up when they were done.
Had a good time, I’ll post it up next year (God willing) if the have it next year.

I don't think you are inflating numbers, she's a good one. Well done.
Thanks WayoutWest, after fishing for so many years I try to be as accurate without going over as best I can.

Thanks Cajun, yes sir they were on the gas. Standing above the hog keeping her pinned in that ditch. T dog, I was definitely flying high to see some dogs I took from pups that didn’t know nothing to watch them get to where they are now is what I enjoy. I just like watching dogs work, doesn’t matter what they are. I wasn’t sure if they could get it done on their own, we’ve been getting smoked by some runners lately, and I’ve been in talks with some folks about another bigger breed dog to help shut down some of these races. I had a feeling it was just going to take the right hog in the right set of circumstances so they could succeed. I guess this was it for them. https://rumble.com/v6hgzgg-german-jagdterriers-and-heideterrier.html

Went out to a spot I’ve been running the dogs in this morning, everyone is at work except me and the terriers. I get down to where I planned on hunting and there’s some folks running beagles after rabbits. Had a nice conversation and parted ways. We hit the woods in some of the most likely terrain and didn’t get anything going. I decide to switch to the hopscotch mode and check spots as I move about the property. First spot was only 1/4 mile from where I was initially but it made all the difference in the world. I walk into the woods a short way and my male and this heideterrier of mine light out of there. About a minute goes by and I hear him barking, I’m concerned about him trashing so I look at the garmin and they’re about 350 and not moving, my female jagd was in a different area but not far. I start thinking they might actually have something bayed up, they’re barking and not catching so I think it might be a good one too. I get to the scene of the crime and there’s a big hog in a ditch and all three of my mutts are giving her the business. This is their first hog they stopped on their own without being in the company of other dogs, so I’m pretty pleased at this point. Mind you I don’t have a catch dog, when the hog sees me it starts making a move in my direction, what she didn’t see was the Kimber 10mm in my hand. I double tapped her and she goes out of the ditch towards the dogs. She’s fighting them a bit and staggering, I give her another one and roll her over. After a bit she decides she’s got some more life in her, I grabbed her by the tail and used the sticker to end it. They got after another one that ran about 650 and I thought they had it stopped. I start their way and the race is on again, it took me a while to get all the dogs collected up. It turned out to be a big sow missing her left ear and one teet (no idea how that happened). I had a hard time moving her so I guessed her about 180/200, I don’t like to inflate numbers but she was thick.

Yes sir, it was a busy morning and a lot of fun. It’s always good to see the young dogs get some reps in and develop as they go. Thanks T dog, the weather is just the way I like it now, I’m trying to get them in the woods three times a week if possible.

I had to take my wife to DFW so she could go spend time with her family in Hawaii, a friend gave me an invite for a quick round since I was going to be in the area. Drop her off at the terminal and away I go to the meet up. We go to spot right by his house with one of his older bay dogs a few young up and comers and a young pit, plus my three.
We turn out and it wasn’t but a minute or two and we had a sounder of what looked like 20/30 head, dogs get to chasing and they cross right in front of us, a little while later they catch the caboose. We gather them back up and they get after some of the scattered hogs, it sounded like they had a bay in the creek but it blew up by the time we got there.
Not much after that, it was a fun little morning and a good training exercise for the young dogs.

T dog, I was afraid you were going to ask that question, like Forest Gump “I’m not a smart Man”. So I put a link up from one of the main breeders that can tell you more than I can without my errors. My pov, they have about 50% Jagdterrier blood, some selected Airedale, then you might find some ebt, Irish terrier, presa canerio and apbt. An owner of a brother to my dog did an embark dna test and that’s what his results showed. I don’t know how those Germans got that recipe together in a blender to get the result they were after. That’s why I leave the breeding to the breeders and I exchange my money for the pups. I was looking for more size and this litter was available, so I jumped at the chance. She’s young and inexperienced, I’ll have a better answer for you when she mentally matures. Physically she’s grown, mentally she still shows a lot of pup. But she goes hunting, she wants to catch and not bay but hasn’t figured that end of it out yet. Time will tell how she ends up in the long run. My male jagd is a slow starter and it looks like she’s that way too, I never get the quick starters. But I do like the way my male hustles and bays. The heideterrier hustles and hunts, she’s just learning what to do when she’s face to face with the hog. https://www.heideterrier.com/?fbclid=IwY2xjawIA1bdleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHWXRcK2HSAJcAKyUkMIrYc-u3ieqlz1aL7k31_REoevICQUVv-ohQgeBpQ_aem_FQ2_45lOZ5l14HMhxoFpfAYou can hit me anytime I might be better able to answer any questions. 661-816-7464

Red nose and NLA, yes sir, I agree. I couldn’t believe we were going out in that cold but it worked out better than I ever imagined.
T dog, yes, I was the only one with terriers. The other two guys had the usual mix of cat/cur type crosses with the exception of two plotts. I hope to see those plotts some more, they looked good.
Cajun, in my limited experience the rally’s I’ve seen were sows and little pigs. These were all 100lb and up so that was a first for me. The sound was equivalent to a train passing by at close range, could’ve been the cold air and the acoustics of being backed up against the base of that mountain.
As a side not, my young heideterrier went out on the ice and broke thru, so my male jagd goes to her and falls through. Luckily we got them out of there, it could’ve been way worse. It’s supposed to get above freezing next week.
