"Once the hogs die from the poison they will not be dangerous for other animals or people to eat."

I wonder if he or they are willing to demonstrate that......

My hunting partner had this litter of pups. The mom is BMC. She has a good nose, will stick with a runner, and is loose baying. The dad is 1/2 catahoula 1/2 parker. He is a rough dog but not suicidal. The pups are about 3 months old. Text for pictures. $50 (But I will consider giving a youngster that is getting started a pup.) 9  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Stuck at home with the Corona on: September 22, 2021, 07:46:43 am
I'll second that.....My wife is one of those go-getters, only in bed to sleep. She started feeling bad and wouldn't get out of bed. Wasn't talking (and that woman loves to talk). Hanging on to every piece of furniture to go to the bathroom about 10' away. On the end of day 2, I told her to her to take the Ivermectin. By the next evening (about 24 hours), she was walking into the living room and talking with everyone. She wasn't 100%, but she said she felt way better. She took a dose per day for the next 2 days and then stop taking it. Then on day 9, she got slammed worst than the before. So she started back on the Ivermectin and pulled out after that.

The rest of the family started on the ivermec before showing symptoms.  We have 10 kids at home ranging from 22 - 4. Everyone but me and the 4 year old got sick. The older kids (22 - 12) were down about 2 days (but not like my wife) and the younger kids (10 - 6) didn't feel good for about 12 hours. The kids started showing symptoms about 5-7 days after my wife did...my kids were not consistent with their daily dose until they got sick. I think there is something to taking that daily dose when your sick that helps a person get over it.....and that might have prevented me from getting it......but I'm not a doctor and media says that we are fools for taking horse wormer.....

The Louisiana Department of Health is ordering pharmacies not to fill those prescriptions unless there is a confirmed diagnosis of parasites.

The bed and the bumper are very nice. Thanks for the pictures. What is the length and width of the bed?

I built a bed that bolts to my rack. Eventually, I would like to build one like yours, but I don't think I'm that talented. In the future, I may hit you up for some advice on building one.

NLA Hunter, I'm hunting out of a Pioneer 500 and I see a custom built bed. Did you built it yourself? Can you show some pictures of the way you have your P-5 set up?

That bed came out really nice. I bought a P5 in April 2019 and I'm really liking it.

Where did you get the hitch?

15  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Break Sticks on: March 12, 2020, 03:41:25 pm
After scanning through a post on FB, one fellow kept bringing out the point that most people don’t know how to use a break stick and end up breaking the dog’s teeth. I did not see in the comments any instructions on how the break stick should be used, so I got to wondering if I use a break stick correctly. I use an old cutting board for a break stick (Not sure of the dimension). It seems at times my break stick is too flimsy, but for the most part it works. The last thing I want to do is break a tooth. So, here are some of my questions:
1.   To use, or not to use a break stick?
2.   What is a good length, width, and thickness of a break stick?
3.   Where in the dog’s mouth do you insert the break stick?
4.   Once inserted, do you twist the stick (using the width of the stick to pry open the mouth) or use it like a lever lifting up or pushing down (using the length of the stick to pry open the mouth)?
5.   Any other advice?

Thanks for the input fellows, I've pulled trailers with 4 wheeler tires and some with boat trailer tires and yall are right, the wider the better.

Reuben, I like that trailer. The one that is a little bigger with the 4 wheels is nice also. I've also kicked around the idea of making a 4 wheeled trailer with the front set of tires that turn (like a cotton trailer). I was thinking that would take some tongue weight off the SxS. I have a junk 4 wheeler that I would use for the base and build a box on top of that, but that is just one more set of tires to keep up with....Everything I have around my place has some kind of combination of tires, lights, and batteries.....and I always seen to have a problem with one of those three things....

Any other ideas would be much appreciated.

Thanks, I was planning on the rubber mats and the water tank is a good idea to kick around.

I'm glad he learned to mind so quick! That's a good hog.

I like that concept....Do you have know the dimensions of the compartments and the height? Do you feel the height is sufficient for a big hog to stand up? I reason I ask is, we lost a few hogs during the summer that I think if we could have got them untied where they could stand up, they may have cooled down quicker.
20  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Ideas for Hog / Dog Trailer on: December 04, 2019, 07:09:20 am
I'm looking for some advice for a hog / dog trailer to pull behind a pioneer 500. The main box will be 6' long and 40" wide. The length is not necessarily limited, but the width is limited by the axle and wheels. The trailer's primary use will be for getting hogs untied and on its feet, then transporting. The dogs will be primarily hauled on the SxS or on top of this trailer. We have kicked around ideas for the number of compartments and types of gates, but have not settled on it. Here are some of our questions that I would like to get opinions on:

-Gates that open to the outside. Should they be swinging gates or sliding gates? If sliding, slide from the top or the side?
-Compartments. How many? Should they run the length of the box or the width? or both? and should the compartment dividers swing, slide, or be solid?

Any thoughts would be appreciated and if you have pictures of a trailer that would be even better.
