1  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: SOUTH CAROLINA.... looking for info on my old dog. on: May 21, 2019, 07:38:01 pm
Thank you sir. That message you sent me is the right guy. I have his number but cant get ahold of him. I heard that he had sold him for good money. I was supposed to have first shot at him so that may explain that one.
2  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / SOUTH CAROLINA.... looking for info on my old dog. on: May 21, 2019, 08:51:58 am
Long story short I let go of a good one that I was supposed to have first buy back option for and been kept in touch about. Neither one of those things happened.  All I know is he ended up in south carolina.  I know it is a long shot but I sure would like to know how that dog is doing. He's a registered BMC that I called boomer. I'll try to post some pictures from when I had him.

That tone training is where it's at. I may be the guy on this site with the least experience training dogs. But I had a smart as a whip black mouth and he was 100% tone trained by 10 months old and it sure didn't take long. We was hunting some big farms down in South Georgia and the dogs got out by the road. I told everybody where they were and they all took off running and hollering for there dogs. The dogs were working a track and dang near a mile out. I toned my boomer dog and didnt even take a step in his direction. The land owner was with us and didnt have a dog in the hunt. He asked why I wasn't getting after my dog to. I said he's on the way back here now like a bat outta hell. And sure enough me and the land owner watched him come all the way back on the Garmin. He was sure impressed with that. 45 minutes later here come the rest of the crew and dang near to tired to keep hunting.

I've been to Don's house and went through his yard with him. He's got some nice dogs for sure.

The easiest way is to use the Tapatalk app on your phone.
Trying to post through tapatalk. Let's see if this works.

Wife came home with a little bulldog pup the other day. Her friend at work had a litter and this pup was supposed to go home with my step son for him and his dad to work with. His dad said no at the last minute.....I said no to but long story short he's still here. I don't know the breeding behind this pup or anything. And the people he came from don't hunt.  All I can say is the parents look good, behave like they should and have plenty of drive. This pup is smart as a whip and pretty calm. One thing I've learned about bulldogs is when it comes to catching hogs (for the most part) they either will or they won't. There's usually always a few things to work on but there ain't to much in between. I'm going to keep trying to figure out how to post a picture because last time i was posting pics on here I was using photobucket and that ain't happening no more.

Some health issues, finances and a move to another house forced a sell out for me. I know how it goes. Real dog men don't sell out. But sometimes when it comes down to the nitty gritty.......well that's how it goes. I was new in the game and went through a thousand Craigslist HOG DOGS that was 250 bucks and guaranteed jam up and jelly tight. Well I learned my lesson on that real quick. Especially with the ammo shortage that was going on back then. I finally got 2 bmc dogs and a bulldog that I was happy with. A female I had got from a buddy, and a male I bought as a pup. I put as much effort into him from day one as I possibly could and man he sure started turning it on early. I had started finding and catching a few hogs here and there, the ole chest started sticking out a little further and then crap hit the fan.....long story short I took a man's word on an owner finance deal on our little farm and we were 4.5 years into a 5 year payoff when the bank foreclosed. We paid the man......the man didn't pay the bank....that's life I reckon. Anyway I sold the dogs after all that and some health issues on my end. But I sold them to someone I knew (so I thought) under the agreement that I could get first option to buy if they were ever sold again. Well several days ago my phone rings. I said hello......the guy says are you Shane? I said yes sir. He said I bought a couple of black mouth dogs about a month ago and your name is on the papers, I just wanted to ask a few questions. I said go for it. He proceeds to ask me if I had any more dogs just like that boomer dog and before I could say no was already saying how he was ready to make an offer that would be well worth my time......blah blah blah. I said sir I don't have anything here but an old chocolate lab that ain't good for nothing but fetching sticks and licking his balls. He said he hadn't had that boomer dog for a month and he had already been on 20 something hogs and found 18 of them by his self. That's real good for around here. He also said how he didn't even like the black mouth dogs but would take 20 just like this one.....All this sure made me feel good seeing as I'm the one that trained that dog, and the man doing the bragging had been hunting hogs with dogs almost as long as I've been alive.....but I was pretty bummed out that I never even heard that the dogs was for sale until somebody I don't even know tracked me down to brag on them. Anyway.....we may be about to pull the trigger on a little cabin on a few acres that we will own instead of rent and my wife actually came to me and said babe let's get some more hog dogs, I really miss doing that. Well that was it. She lit the fire again. I been reading on here about y'alls stories just to scratch the itch a little but with a little luck I'm gonna start trying to rebuild a crew again. Probably just start from pups unless I see some dogs that I know about already. So it will be a while regardless. But I enjoy working some pups just as much as the rest of it. So we shall see. Long winded post but I'm bored,  and it's to cold to go fishing.

18  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Would y'all hunt 300 acres? on: August 03, 2017, 07:38:06 pm
I appreciate the advice folks. The guy did say we can get off the property a "little bit" ......I'm gonna have to find out more details about what that "little bit" means. I kind of took it as one bordering land owner won't care, but another one will. My old dogs are tone trained. At least they were. I hope the guy that bought them kept using that with them, because I had just got them to where they were coming back real good when that tone went off. I surprised the heck out of some boys with it one day when the dogs were bee lining a track straight towards the road.
19  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Would y'all hunt 300 acres? on: August 03, 2017, 01:26:33 pm
Got an offer to hunt 300 acres with a bunch of hogs. I quit hunting a while back but still have access to my old dogs. The thing is they ain't real gritty. They'll put teeth on a runner but at the same time I've seen them on some LONG races. On the other hand my buddy has some rcd's that'll put the vice on one in a heart beat. What would y'all do? Call in the alligators, or pass on the small property ........
