Yes sir yall got a fine program going on Nla,Nice setup, good dogs and a fine family.I sure do miss being able to make one I'd be thrown outa south ga if I got caught around here.Good hogs.
Thanks Wow. Tdog I never bred BJ I gave him to my son in law.The pups out of Pearl a Hambone/Maggie gyp and something a little ranker my plan for these are mainly smaller tracts and corn/crops at night.
T-dog they don't build ones that look better suited for running than your grown dogs tend to turn out I'm sure ol King will follow suit he is a good looking sucker. There ain't no hiding that ol tri color walker is there lol.
The Feel or Stock sense is a necessity for me in my dogs that's what determines whether they're a hog dog in this line to me or not.The ability to control a hog according to each individual hog and situation.Highwater I'm sure ol Cajun is right about putting him out solo I've seen lots of dogs that'll catch out if a poodle is with em but bay solo.
Took the boys and my brother in law and nephew on a Sunday hunt.We brought Peaches and Diamond my young gyp that I feel is really special. This was there third straight day hunting and we had already bayed a big boar in the bed that broke and put us in pigs and sows.We jump this big boar at 10am he bayed 3 different times over the course of the next 4hrs but just would not hold when we got there. We saw him cross the rd 3 times and the last time his mouth hanging open and I told my brother in law he didn't have any thing left in the tank.He crossed the big creek one last time and bayed so we had to drive way around the highway to get to the other side. We go hauling butt in there and right where the dogs are is a truck the woman says she saw the hog and he went in the pivot ditch right there. She also told me her grandson was on the way to catch him and she informed me that she was the owner of the property and we introduced ourselves I respectfully told her I hunted for the farmer who leases the property but I would get out of the way for her grandson to catch the hog I told her he's good and tired and had no more running left in him and I loaded up and left.I text her grandson and told him it was a big black boar with some gold on his face and he should be easy to catch.5 min later I got a Picture of him and he said he died as soon as he tied him. When we were headed back to the house she chased me down and apologized for messing up my hunt but I told her I was just happy he got him.I couldn't be happier with this young gyp Diamond and ofcourse Peaches. This is the route they ran minus loops and zig zags it's about 8.5 miles.Diamond led about half the time and ran right by us crossing rds and never checked up for a single second.
Lol Highwater that woulda definitely been a easy way to get shot. The country boy group from TN were scared to death and had to be talked into even sticking a hog that we had legged and the city slickers from NJ were crawling head first in hog tunnels holding bloody knives in they teeth wanting more lol.
Got asked to guide another hunt at Browndale plantation took a group of guys from New Jersey they were gun ho the closest they'd ever been to a hog was on the television screen. The dogs showed out we ended up with 4 and a really good boar by the end of it I was just sending them fellas to take care of the hogs while the boys and I eased that way lol.Peewee Bayed the big spotted boar way in a terrible briar thicket I was crawling in from 100yds and them fellas were all on hands and knees single file behind me it was a good time. Came back home and hunted here at the house casted Peewee Kong and Diamond they got .85 and split Diamond went north peewee and Kong south Diamond bayed hers several times but couldn't hold it Kong and Peewee got theirs bayed so we went to them it was a good boar about 230lbs headed to Diamond and she was still running hers she was getting to close to Highway and I called her out but man I was sure proud of her it was her first hog to run solo and she stayed on it for 1.5hrs back and to across the creek and never thought about quitting.
