1643  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Any Paris TX hogdoggers on here ? on: December 01, 2009, 09:44:19 pm
I have hunted quite a bit in Paris, it is hog central! That will be a good spot as long as all the local hunters dont run it out there are alot of doggers in the area, I like most of them i have met. Get to that spot asap you will have a great hunt!
1644  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: sorry boys another big toothy on: December 01, 2009, 09:38:02 pm
The fact that you have a pack of rough dogs dont run a cd and catch hogs like that on a regular basis without getting dogs cut down every hunt and laid up for wks amazes and impresses me! Good job as you know,,this lets me know I still have not seen it all and still have alot to learn.
1645  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Does anybody feed Enhance Hunters edge on: December 01, 2009, 08:43:03 pm
I have been on diamond high energy and star pro 24/20 over the past yr since i lost my good dog food connection and could tell the dogs needed more food and had loose stools..I just switched to sport mix the dogs love it and i am cleaning my kennels with a pitching wedge instead of a water hose!!
1646  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: How many catchdogs?? on: December 01, 2009, 08:39:39 pm
I am glad to hear this, when i was hunting two years ago or so everyone was so worried about getting top dollar for the hog they would rather risk the dogs than tear up the hog!
I believe if you have to sell the  hog to pay for dog food or gas money you should get another hobby....maby frisbee golf      2 cd's is how i role if at all possibble
1647  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: rough dogs or not rough on: December 01, 2009, 08:30:44 pm
I have two curs that can keep most any hog bayed up by themselves for as long as it taks to get help to them (cd or 2) that are not rough at all, at the end of the hunt i dont have to deal with cut collrs etc. and have not used a staple gun all year! its conveniant.
I still enjoy hunting with rough dogs but I dont want to get rid of mine as long as they are doing their job. I think bottom line its all about finesse to keep the hog bayed rough or not but it sure is easy without all the trouble of staples etc.

1648  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Weather on: December 01, 2009, 02:54:26 pm
yea, it was pretty chilly last night too, when my buddy had to swim the tank to get his cd. lol

Ouch! the rain/snow should be gone by noon tomorrow (in mckinney) then perfect hunting weather!
1649  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Need advice on catchdog on: December 01, 2009, 02:52:43 pm
Yea it seems like a month on the chain and a fisty hog would do her good. let her watch from outside the pen as well a few times then put her back on the chain without letting her in and dont use another cd. .02
1650  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: weatherford ben bloodline on: December 01, 2009, 02:39:28 pm
Oh, bobs told me about you he said your like a mad scientist when it comes to line breeding and genetics. he said you have studied all the books etc. and i believe was telling me that a line bred dog thats a cull will throw more good dogs than a scatter bred dog who hunts well but his lineage didnt. What kind of books? I am interested in that stuff.

1653  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: weatherford ben bloodline on: December 01, 2009, 10:49:45 am
Contact bob cox curdogcox@yahoo.com or cell 817 360 4685 he has the tightest ben breeding i believe is possibble if not its in the top 2% no b.s. I am amazed when i see his dogs that dont know anything hunt like a finished 4 year old dog and its only there 2 or 3 time in the woods unbeleiveable work ethic wtih john wayne ross on his waiting list for a pup...thats the man who registers bmc's in texas.
1654  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Dogs voicebox on: November 30, 2009, 06:28:54 pm
I think it would be an excellent idea  Wink. If i were made of money i would do it for sure, my luck is it would die of heat stroke the very next hunt.  Angry A freind of mine who hunts visla bird dogs does it for all the ones he keeps in the city b/c of a crazy neighbor, last i was at his house i think he had 4 like that, they were perfectly happy dogs without a voice box!
1655  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: ANOTHER ONE FOR THE WEST TX - NEW MEXICO BOYS on: November 30, 2009, 06:21:11 pm
Great job nice hog! What did the vet say about when they pis blood? my assumption would be let em take it easy and just made his organs (kidneys) bleed but it will pass, just want to know so i can save myself a vet bill one day, or not take a dog in thats in need of treatment.

1658  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: barking dog on: November 30, 2009, 04:01:23 pm
I have used both the waterhose method and the bb gun.I have had better luck with the water hose especially if its really cold at night, they will run into thier dog house but I climb in the house with them. After a good doses with the hose they are shivering too bad to bark.Someone could be next to my kennels now killing me with an axe and they will not bark.Do that a few times when its really cold out and I promise you wont have any more problems.

Thats just mean  Grin
1659  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: barking dog on: November 30, 2009, 03:59:34 pm
Yes i do shoot them with the bb gun, after about 15 wks or so! after they figure it out a hush up and shake of the gun is all thats needed 90%. Between that and bark collars i have never had a problem for long and i live smack dab in the middle of the city with neighbors that hate dogs.
1660  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: barking dog on: November 30, 2009, 01:18:40 pm
I stick with a red ryder bb gun and who cares if the bark collar is to hard, they figure it out quick.... as long as they are quiet!
