YES! electrical tape works great, I only use a pinky finger sized strip and replace it every hunt or two  b/c it is easier to re- charge between hunts. Thanks ladogos saved my Garmin  Wink

1703  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: boar hog about 175 on: September 03, 2009, 01:45:12 pm

1704  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Please help me explain why these people are idiots... on: August 30, 2009, 06:51:41 pm
Sounds like if anything your freinds did a great job and spent alot of money at two vets going above and beyond trying to save the dog, many cant even do that, amputations are not cheap! Saying lacy's are cut more than catahoula's is spoken by someone who is clueless about hunting with dogs thats ridiculous Huh?. Heat kills more dogs than hogs do, bulldogs are obviously the most injured or killed not curs of any kind. Angry

Great for only 1 cd as well, thats awesome!! I thought catching hogs in the middle of open feilds was your m.o.--last wk when I had the pleasure of hunting with you gents the 3 or 4 we caught was a cake walk, never even saw a briar, I was amazed. Thats the real reason I like hunting with you Cheesy drink beer on a wheeler and casually strole into to a bay put down the ninja moves on 3 hogs and b.s. some more Wink
1708  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: PLEASE HELP!!!!!!! on: August 26, 2009, 09:51:22 pm
Call a lawyer, thats why i have pre paid leagul its only 20 bucks a month.. what did the sheriff say about him beeting the dog to death with a pipe?? that cant be leagul!
I think the real lesson learned is always go to the dog asap and deal with the problem we have permission to get our livestock if it goes on another property!

1711  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: just needing some sympathy on: August 22, 2009, 11:22:11 pm
Ha! And I thought hunting in Farmersville, and the ppc dogo biting the 100lb hogs tail off then catching the next hog, letting go, then catching again and again was funny...even though the hog was only 800lbs with 7" cutters he was an honory S.O.B. - poor daddy didn't marry mommy Grin
1712  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: hunting partners, who and why on: August 19, 2009, 04:37:49 pm
I love hunting with the group of guys that I get to go out with. It is great having some freinds that have the same general outlook on life and politics, and I have never had the chance to meet as many good people on a consistant basis as what I have hog hunting. Most people we hunt with never would ask for help but if they did they would be the first group of gentleman I would drop what I was doing and do whatever it took to help them. (and who else can you call at the weird hours we all keep that arent drug addicts/alcoholics) Everyone has strengths and weakness and they seem to mesh well when getting the job done, hunting partners seem to get to know each other alot more in a much shorter period of time than do the avg. freinds-I trust my hunting partners more than my college freinds.
1713  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Dog Seizures on: August 17, 2009, 04:18:35 pm
after you try panacure if needed get your dog adjusted by a chiropractor or a vet that will do it there are more than you think- and get the dog basic minerals. i have cured hundreds of seizures in kids like this-never a dog though but it should transfer and work the same. phenobarbotal is a joke, like most life long meds.  If that doesnt work let me know and i will get you some specific instructions. just my .02

1716  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: training vs. natural instinct on: August 07, 2009, 10:42:14 pm
seems to me like the instincts to hunt and work should be there and are rarely taught...However all the training comes in to work cows, goats, sheep, etc. or just kill skunks and possums on the way to finding and baying up a hog. Angry Other than trash breaking the only other training i have done is if a pup is suicideal it is good to get him backed up and baying in a pin before getting him on an experienced boar with cutters in the woods. Or if a young dog got whipped in the woods build his confidence back up in a baypen with something he can handle..but they have to have drive! Wink
1717  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: gonna have my hands full next year on: August 05, 2009, 10:53:11 pm
Just a ? for you gentleman who breed half hounds. First of all I want to say the best dog I have ever hunted with owned by tom is a half hound and half cur(spiderman) and own a cur with 1/4 walker in her.----But since there is such a big chance that they will be open is your only option to raise all the pups and cull the open dogs and keep the silent ones??? I dont have the kennell space food money or patiance to find out or ruin my freinds hunts. I have personally just bred a 900yd bmc strike dog to a line bred grand champion english pointer who has a ton of endurance drive etc. hoping to get the nose without the mouth. Thanks for any input.
1718  THE CLASSIFIEDS / THE DOG TRADE / Re: young cheap strike dog for sale on: August 05, 2009, 12:57:57 pm
This is a good dog he is never at your feet, rarely seen by you in the woods and consistantly out 1-400 yards and uses his nose well. For 400 dollars he will find hogs all day long, he is much more than a help dog so if you get a gritty dog to go with him you will catch hogs all day long. He is gritty enough to stop and bay them but will need help on a hell bent runner he uses his teeth to stop them but that is all he has kept severel hogs bayed until help arrived. Great dog to train pups and keep them out a couple hundred yds, he only checks in every half hour to hour and gets out as far as it takes in fresh sighn.  make an offer

Good looking dog, if I wasnt feeding something just like her but a year and half younger I would pick her up. I think help dogs make your strike dogs look better by putting the pork on the table and keep em alive longer so they dont have to do all the work. Not every dog can find them. Shocked
